Considering when these games will come out I would bet both Zoroark and the BW starters will be the Gen 6 equivalents.
Seeing some of these posts from competitive Smashers makes me wonder why there isn't a thread for competitive Smash talk like there is for dem fighting games.
So that different types of smash fans can antagonize each other, and again, the threads will devovle.
Does Brawl really count, though?
Melee is superior to Brawl, but come on, people act though as if it was a terrible game. It was fucking fun, just not Melee levels of fun.

There probably will be when Smash 4 comes out. I don't think a Melee or Brawl thread would thrive at this point.

I doubt they'd change Pokemon Trainers Pokemon. I mean, there's a reason they had him use the original starters rather than gen 3 or 4 starters.
I think Sega may try to get Sonic in again. Sonic games simply sell the best on Nintendo systems, and the Sonic and Mario at the Olympic games is one of their best selling products.
Yeah. They are iconic and represent the concept of evolution in Pokemon, in a way. Trainer is fine by himself too, I wouldn't want another trainer with different Pokemon when they could put that effort elsewhere.

We actually have a bunch of competitive Melee heads in GAF (grats to Anth0ny for making bracket at IMPULSE <3) but we've never gotten together.
Its hard to mesh with the casual smash-GAF group because we don't really share the same interests, I suppose.
I agree its odd though; smash is the only major competitive game not featured on GAF.

Competitive Smash seems to exist in an unfortunate area between casual-Smash and other fighting games and both sides seem get rather hostile to you guys. (at least in years past)
Basically a Ryu/Ken thing?

FYI Sakurai wants Wolf in. In that Smash thread it was said he's been pushing him in Smash since 64.

Assuming it were to be in its own thread I don't see why the two sides of smash would be butting heads since the casual side wouldn't (or should I say shouldn't) be there anyway, a simple rule as to not shit up such a thread with blubbering about either games superiority and how it's "supposed" be played sounds simple enough to enforce, well maybe.
I guess the real issue is are there enough competitive smashers here for such a thread to thrive?

Actually I hope Panther makes in and just strap Leon as an assist trophy. It makes more sense anyway.

I'm not sure why everyone seems to auto assume Rob would be cut from a future smash bros game, he was included because of the role he played in Nintendo's history (helping the NES be marketable). Same with people assuming characters with unique move sets will be cut like Diddy Kong or Ike, look at the characters cut from melee
Mewtwo, was replaced by Lucario and was originally planned to be in brawl

Young Link, was replaced by Toon Link

Roy, was planned to be in brawl like Mewtwo, I wouldn't consider Ike a replacement though some people might

Odds are no one will be outright cut (except maybe Toon Link) they'll be replaced by someone else (Ike -> Krom or Lucario -> Gen 6 dude). The only characters who's status would be in limbo are snake and sonic being 3rd party, but considering Sonic was the most requested character for Brawl and Nintendo and Sega continue to do Mario/Sonic games and Snake was requested by Sakurai's friend Kojima and is popular (and he's rumored to be in Sony All Star) so I really can't see anything getting in the way of them coming back.

Why doesn't GAF just have its own roster vote a la that one they keep doing for all the cool kids in Japan whenever a new Smash is to debut? I'd love to see the statistics that would come up from a GAF tally.

Geno is probably the only remaining "first-party" character I can think of actually wanting in. The rest of Brawl's cast is downright perfect. Maybe split the PKMN Trainer to 3 full characters, and give us back Mewtwo and Roy. (Dr. Mario should be a pallet swap)
Oh yeah, forgot about Wolf in the opening. (makes sense, so they really planned to have all 3 in it seems)

I think it was IntelliHeath who has had the plan to do something like that, though it was more of a prediction contest I think. A roster vote could be interesting though, i'd be up for helping with such a task.
Isaac's chances have gone down considerably after Dark Dawn both bombed and was an awful game.
And those chances weren't any good before either.

The only thing I really, really want is a playable character from Golden Sun and not just an assist trophy. It could be Isaac, Felix, Garet, Matthew or any other, I don't care, as long as Golden Sun gets a character I'll be happy.
