Zen United is publishing Persona 4 Arena in Europe

FINALLY got a listing on ebgames AU.

Probably will cave and buy it from EB on the day it comes out. I don't think I'll want to wait a couple weeks longer for it to arrive from the UK since I'll probably be playing Tekken Tag 2 by then. |:

We probably won't even get it this year. It will be just like Blazblue.
Sigh, a fighter cannot be delayed like this.

We're not getting it in August.

That much was known, but what's the point of getting a fighter several months late? And at full price without any bonus at that?

Many gaffers dont care about people like us in Pal countries because they are fine on their ...quite sad.
I only need english subs/menus but we cant import...
This game can flop for all i care.
Late releases are a sin especially when bundled with region lock

As much as I love Arcsys and the game looks great from what I've seen, the P4A scene will be destroyed by TTT2 sadly enough. Especially seeing that we can play TTT2 already.

Huh? Are you talking about CT or CS and CE? Because the first one had such a big gap as ASW was in search for a new publisher in Europe. When Zen United got the contract the delay of ASW releases weren't that big. How often do I need to repeat myself? :>

Yeah, all the Guilty Gear and BB players will switch to TTT2 instead of Persona. What?

With CS it was a 5 month delay, not really something positive.

I think he means the casual scene. Mot people who play fighters for fun will drop this game by its eventual release in pal-land, but I don't think TTT2 will have much effect on it, considering it will be released early September worldwide. This game's worst competitor in pal-land will probably be GG online.

UK getting lumped into the EU set is so infinitely frustrating when looking at US releases. Already in English, add in those extra u's or don't, give now. French/German/Italian/Spanish version can be the one everyone waits 6 months for, not me.

Assy move on the region lock means I wont be supporting this title at all, maybe give it a quick rent. Hopefully a one off, as I loves me my Persona.

Just out of curiosity, what are these "U's" that the British version would have over the American version?

It was still an aftershock of CT. Which was released in the same year as CS in Europe. Look at Arcana Heart 3 or Extend.

What was their excuse for Continuum Shift II then? And didn't Arcana Heart 3 take four months with the US release date of April and the EU release date of August?

Would it be immature to repeatedly pester the Persona Europe Twitter for some kind of release information?

That seems incredibly optimistic of you. How about Continuum Shift 2 for 3DS? Six months later. Still an aftershock as late as November last year, hmm?

CE which is a retail re-release of CSII:
JP December 17, 2011
NA February 14, 2012
EU February 24, 2012

Wasn't the US release of Arcana heart 3 PS3 and digital only?

Er... So at first it was "Yeah, well after CT they got it right!", then it was "Well after CS they got it right!" and now it's "Well, their most recent game got it right!".

Which is true! Unfortunately it also voids your whole point. There's no evidence that Zen have got their shit together just because they released a single game in a reasonable time frame. They still derped EVERY SINGLE OTHER RELEASE.

I take 4 months later over no 360 and retail version to date, though. And 4 months is totally derped? :>

Color/colour, armor/armour etc.

Not that it matters, I haven't seen a game which has been correctly localised to British English for many years. It is part of the reason UK gamers get fed up of having to wait for a European release, we don't need any of the other languages and companies don't bother to localise it correctly for us anyway - heck, XBLA/PSN titles don't even replace the ERSB logo with the PEGI one - so why shouldn't we get it day and date with the US release?

Yes. And you said the delays 'weren't that big'. When the best delay is four months, that is not good. When it is six months that is terrible.

Yes, I feel that 'totally derped' is a fine way to describe Zen's release history.

So they messed up Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift, Continuum Shift II, Calamity Trigger Portable, and failed to release Battle x Battle. And yes, they got Extend right, but they had to, as releasing it is as a Vita launch game was needed. So they got one in six right in the BlazBlue series. And yes, Arcana Heart III was PS3-only in the US. I'm a PS3 gamer so yes, that was still four months.

Licenses aren't shared with the US, they're shared with Europe. Aside from that, they have no reason to do so: it would totally ruin mainland Europe sales and most game publishers already dislike the UK due to the Pound and the fast drops of game prices.

For an RPG, it doesn't matter that much but it still sucks. For a fighter it guarantees a very unfun experience for beginners.

Persona with a 4 month delay will kill the game over there. Might give Skullgirls an opening to be big in Europe, like the FGC's version of Jerry Lewis.

As far as i'm aware skull girls awareness in players mind in europe is minimal at best .....

Given DOA5+TTT2+STxTVita , i'm pretty sure there is no space left for it if released too late

Catherine for the European regions uses the British English spelling for "colour" and "rumour" and that's after 7 months wait XD, soooo worth it -.-

A six person team translating a massive script like P4A's into two additional languages?

Boy I hope you EU folk don't mind waiting.
='( We're used to it but, it still these delays are incredibly vexing for a fighting game.

You just blew my mind. Did not know that.

SO THAT'S WHAT DEEP SILVER WERE DOING FOR SEVEN MONTHS. TIME. WELL. SPENT.

I vastly prefer American English in my European games for some reason. In school the sole reason I didn't completely ace English was because most teachers deducted points for using American English. Only one teacher ever really was cool about it, as long as you didn't mix British and American English over the course of your test.

Wait us (the UK) are getting a different published version and won't have to wait as long?

Phew!
Pqube is a Zen partner and is pretty much only doing the distribution for the UK version. You won't get it until the rest of Europe does, maybe a couple of days later due to the UK games release on Fridays vs Wednesdays for continental Europe thing.

What will you guys play instead? KOF might stay popular in Europe- especially since Orochinagi was pushing both games (is Orochinagi even relevant in Europe though?)

street fighter and marvel like everyone else always plays already, at least in Australia.

The overall fighting scene will give it less of a chance over TTT2 if Arena is released near or after TTT2. The arcsys fans will of course be playing it, but it's not insane to think that there will be crossover between the Arena crowd and Tekken crowd, and that TTT2 will most likely dominate Arena in terms of the size of the scene. Tekken is pretty popular down under from what I've seen.

I feel for you guys, you are getting hosed.

How hard would it be for you guys to import Japan or US consoles in future- if you're a FG fan I'd say Euro consoles aren't worth it period.

I'm kinda split on whether to get DOA or Tekken, or neither. I really like VF, but I'm realistic in that I don't think it will last long past Tekken here. If Persona is awesome I might just hold out- though I'm hitting a tourney to see DOA early.

Realistically speaking the fighting game scene in Europe as a whole isn't that big and the fact that we're all so far separated in terms of distances and language barriers makes things even harder. P4A is going to be a niche title for a community, in regards to the competitive community, that's already relatively small so it coming out later than the rest of the world isn't going to really hurt it in that sense. The people in Europe that want to play it competitively will wait and still play it once it comes out.

I actually considered getting a cheap Core 360 off EBay after this mess, but it seems a waste so late in the life-cycle. I think Arena is the only game I'd use it for.

EDIT: Bad news guys. I tweeted Zen, asking if they were still on track for an August release (Which is what they said back when the region lock thing kicked off). Here's the response I got:

@psychodantis Hey there! We've yet to confirm a specific release date as yet I'm afraid - though we hope to do so soon!

Soooo, goodness knows when we'll see the game.

No, almost every other major fighting game publisher releases it in a reasonable time here. The only problems I've had thus far is skullgirls and this, and even for skullgirls you can just buy from a different region PSN store by purchasing a different region PSN card.

I think at this stage it's safe to assume it will roll over to September.

Probably Blazblue and Skullgirls. Maybe I'll also go back to UM3 and VF5.

I'd love to see that happen. Even November will be a damn miracle in my opinion.

If blazblue is any judge Australians will need to wait till about a week before P4A Golden is released in the rest of the world.
