It's a silly stance but let's not lose the context of the Darkstalkers. They had stances to suit their character, not an orthodox fighting style in any of that cast (except maybe Talbain). Meanwhile I get the sense that we're supposed to take the cast of MK vs DC superheroes or KOFXI/XIII seriously.

There was a thread recently that contained an interesting video interview with boon (I think it was conducted by Gamespot), where he shared a retrospective look at the series' history, development, and how most of the character motions were captured.
