I guess I expected more out of GAF but I guess fanboys will be everywhere. Play the game first, then judge it. The point here is that he hasn't even played the game and is already speaking this way. I don't think there are a lot of original ideas anymore so this doesn't bother me.

It's a rip-off alright, but that's not necessarily bad, although rip-off does have negative connotations. I don't really know what to make PSASBR other than the roster being eh to me.

People who played the beta said it doesn't play anything close to brawl or melee. I mean its a mascot fighter. Yes nintendo started the first successful one (I don't know who actually started it), but thats like saying if capcom made the first fighting game that all 2d fighters are a ripoff of Street Fighter.

I don't understand why people are so upset that PSABR is conceptually similar to smash. Wouldn't you want more games in a genre you like? Did people get this upset over stuff like Torchlight?

Ill never understand replies like this. why do kamiya swery and kojima flood my feed daily but Ken Levine posts like once a week? But keep making assumptions
Kamiya and Kojima only tweet for a couple blocks of time a day but they do a lot in that time.

I thought the folks at SuperBot admitted that they were inspired by smash? He's right, but I don't understand the hate.

Kamiya trying to secure dat Nintendo relationship.

pretty much....he is on nintendo's payroll and I don't expect him to say anything good about any Sony game.

But yea that Sony all star game is a total ripoff...same goes for that little big planet cart racer.

Well, he's right! Difference is, I just don't care. I don't really have too much of an issue with them just lifting that formula.

I do agree that them making a 3D game would have been more fitting, but eh. That'd require effort.

Lol at the youtube video tags. He's definitely right but idfthe game is good that's all that matters. Its nice that he believes in creative integrity as a developer, but as a consumer I'm not bothered.

The concept is a direct ripoff of SSB but that doesn't mean the end product would be. I haven't been paying too much attention to Sony's Battle Royale so i don't know how similar they are though.

Well, I got to agree with Mr. Kamiya!

They don´t have to reinvent the wheel but if they did something unique with it, changed the formula here and there, i would be cool with it. But his looks more like Copy and Paste approach of the concept.

This is my opinion, and i stand by it.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Am I the only one who really wished it is a direct rip-off? So far the current mechanics made me feel turned off.

Kinda like how I wished Digimon Rumble Arena 2 would be a Smash rip off but it played off.

Except that Smash Bros players who played the beta don't think it plays similar at all.

Your opinion seems to be wrong. Yes

I enjoy Smash and am looking forward to PSABR but the amount of ignorance in this thread is shocking. Impressions have stated that the games don't really play like each other at all, but you still have people who only watched the first trailer thinking it's identical to SSB.

It isn't even the same formula. The way characters are knocked out is completely different from Smash. There are no ring outs, which is essential to Smash Brothers.

This is true, but honestly that has just made me think they made an even worse version of Smash Bros. I hate the system conceptually, but maybe it works better in practice.
