Part 5 seems promising, finally get to see some of the editorial staff talking about stuff instead of the behind the scenes work, which is sort of interesting but not what I came for.

#4 made me wanna puke. This stuff doesn't talk to me. AT all. Sorry, but there was no need for this type of documentary. Seriously. ughh.

It's like watching an entire episode of the 1up show filled with corporate folks and suits.

So like, this site launched right? It has the same annoying layout as The Verge and the same news/articles/reviews content I see on every other website. Where is the world-changing stuff? Or is still a "site within a site" with just more content?

Not launched yet. I assume it will launch after the last episode airs.

I just watched the first episode of this.

Wow, that was bad. Its like someone saw a few indie films and said "Yeah, I can copy that." What the hell at Arthur getting a tattoo during an interview, who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

No wonder no one ever takes game journalists seriously.

Wow, really that much? Is it because they're all in different parts of the country?

Hey, we all live in different parts of the country and contributed to this thread (which is way more entertaning than that documentary series). Maybe we can low ball and get MS to give us half a mil to split.

At the very least I will be more understanding about "Nintendo/japanese gaming is doomed" articles from them, in much the same way I wouldn't expect Microsoft PR to say something negative about Halo 4.

I always assumed Gies was carrying around Microsoft's banner for years, for free.

Now, I'm not so sure!

I always got that impression from the RebelFm podcast. Also the way he tries to paint himself as knowledgeable about tech rubs me the wrong way. A few weeks back he was talking about networking between the different consoles and touting incorrect information as fact. Being in the industry, it really irked me.

Can't wait for that Halo 4 review

imagine: all that sweet white space and weirdly formatted text sitting on top of a literally glowing (supported by liberal use of <marquee>, only in IE9!!) 10/10

Uuugh some Verge dude was on This Week In Tech a couple weeks back going on about how he would quit the site if they did sponsored editorial content... So yeah, what the hell is this, then?

not sponsored editorial content. if it was microsoft sponsoring a documentary about how awesome microsoft is, that would be sponsored editorial content.

deals like this don't impact editorial. the latest episode of press reset actually talks about this! at the end of the day it's about finding the funding to run a site while intruding the least on the users' experience.
