Halo |OT12| Last One Out, Get the Lights

I thought within 3 it was based off the rank of your highest player. Not the average of your party. IE if a 40 paired with two 20's they would match with an opposing team that had a high rank of 30 or above.

Rank splits > 10 apart were considered Mixed Skill parties. I don't seem to recall it being based off the highest player, probably better to say that it was a weighted average though. If I went in to RP with GAF or PA guys, the randoms would be fairly competitive. If I played with my brother and his friends who don't play that much Halo and are more casual in how they play, it was like a feeding frenzy for me.

However, add another one or two high skilled players and the randoms would be competitive.

It was a problem for me in Social BTB since people would be having fun all night then invite me, and I'd start pulling higher ranks. If we invited my buddy Ratsult, we'd start pulling 45-50s regularly (at that point I was at or near being a playlist General in BTB, so my invis-TS had to have been pretty solidified). If I went in by myself it was a straight up Brig/Generalfest.

They didn't mind losing, but they did mind getting obliterated, so I only played BTB when srsbsness clanmates were on.

I'm not sure this problem has a solution I can think of :( From what I've seen in various communities, it does tend to shape who plays with each other, even if they don't overtly realize why.

Out of interest did anyone redeem that seventh code that Cyren posted earlier? I redeemed it on Waypoint but when I went into Halo 4 it didnt even recognise it or say anything, didnt get the XP or the emblem.

What does the emblem look like?

as someone who hasn't played BTB in any "competitive" capacity: for example, does 8v8 CTF break down at higher levels of play in any of the Halo games? it has always struck me as weird that I've never heard of a competitive scene for BTB and I've always attributed it to the game being on console/logitistics shit/netcode shit

It said 'Recruit' for the emblem. Isn't that the starting one for everyone?

I just input it, restarted my Xbox, and I had it.

The emblem is the same emblem that you start with, though. Weird...

Oddly, turnout was too high for the first week last week let's see how it goes this week.

lol Ghaleon was namedropped on the latest 8-4 podcast (approx. 32 min in) by sprsk as "the hard morst hardcore" player that he knows and mentions his disappointment in 4.

Yea I just listened to it last night. It was actually a really good segment and I found that I share a lot of the same opinions as those guys which I totally didn't expect.

Are they worth it? Is the story good? I know it is one giant QTE but that doesn't bother me.
Yes and yes.

Depending on how they wrap it up with Episode 5 in a few days, potentially could blow past X-COM and be my GOTY, despite the "game" bit of that phrase being a little loose.

I mentioned it either in the Halo 4 OT or the Halo 4 Spoilers thread, but I'm going to try and "reboot" the Prometheans with more ranks between species, more actual species, a few new weapons, maybe vehicles, etc. over the next few weeks. Here's a preview, mind the doodling.

I think the Prometheans could do with a 'Heavy' class, and another light class (yet a defensive one unlike the offensive crawlers).

100% agree. Knight variation came down to being destroyed by an Incineration Canon and going, welp, he's the tough guy.

Good god, Waypoint is such a fucking mess to navigate. I feel like I'm fighting against the website just to see my k/d ratio and other stats. Can you even view your friends' stats?

Same. And as soon as I get somewhere my browser crashes on me. I gotta go study the last Bulletin.

H4 challenges aren't going to have the same draw to me that Reach's did for a long time if they continue to push individual gametypes and playlists so heavily. After a few games of Regicide, I can safely say that I never want to play it again, and no matter how many challenges they try to use to shove it in my face, I'm not going to go back in. If I'm not in the mood for CTF, then CTF challenges aren't useful. Reach multiplayer challenges were occasionally batshit in their design, but they did one core thing very right, and it was that they allowed you to play pretty much any MP gametype to get them since they were mostly for general stats like kills, assists, style medals, and sprees. Implementing a weekly challenge (well, two, actually) that is only able to be completed in one crummy playlist? Nah, I'll pass.

I guess maybe they do it this way to influence players towards certain playlists, but I think the Super Jackpot did that better without shutting out players who didn't want to play whatever the rewarded playlist was. Heck, I think picking the problem playlist and making it double XP for a weekend would work better than both.
So. How is one supossed to earn 18 regicides in one match?
You'd have to get matched with some truly terrible players and then attempt to stay in second place or lower the entire match, solely going for the King (while doing your best to not be the king) to get that many.

Basically, follow the rules of playing Regicide: don't try to play at your best and somehow things will work out for you.

I got 15 regicides twice but couldn't get the 18. So close.

I already care more about Halo 4's challenges because I want to unlock all the specializations. The levels mean more now.

Infinity playlist should be taken as serious as social in H3. Try Slayer Pro out.

I wonder how much the Mountain Dew and Doritos cross promotion influenced not having double XP weekends.

yeah swat and slayer pro will do for now. almost no one plays slayer pro now though, and I don't always want to play swat even though its awesome. not to mention there's still things like killcams, instant respawn, absence of death markers, join in progress not being optional, and so on that make even these playlists not as enjoyable

and I shouldnt hve to resort to hardcore modes to simply play the classic halo I know, with radar, no wall hack, no personal ordnance, timed and set location weapon spawn, etc.

Only infinity slayer should have instant respawns.

As far as I care, killcams could be cut all together.

JiP needs to work better, yes.

wowowow waypoint is a piece of shit over flashy convoluted stat site... how do you do this...? your weapon kills in all playlists...

You cannot see weapon stats per playlist, only weapon stats overall.

Go to your Halo 4 stats (top right) after you've logged in to Waypoint:
1roX0

Click the globe ("War Games Matchmaking"):
1roXL

Click "Game Variants" on left side of the War Games Matchmaking tab:
1roYI

Scroll down until you see weapons:
1roZs

Click "View all weapon stats" to everything that's not the top three.

Just wanted to show how obnoxiously complex this process is. It took under three clicks on Bnet.
