Canada wants one!

It already exists.

How high are the chances that it will be destroyed and that the pilots will receive a new super secret robot that the head scientist left for them before his death?

Jett hates everything unless it is a movie by one of his favorite directors. Then he will defend it before watching the movie and will call you an idiot if you don't like it. Typical fan boy stuff.

...The fuck? I began to like the trailer after several viewings and have been looking forward to the movie for a long ass time.

But it was underwhelming the first time I watched it after all the comic-con hype and the expectations I had. Fact is it just didn't show much, and I can understand why others might be underwhelmed.

But no, you're right, I hate everything. Your comment is even more fucking stupid considering I said that I expected the second trailer to be great.

the trailer was completely underwhelming. all this hype about mechs vs giant monsters and we got a trailer with action less exciting than any of the transformers trailers.

it wasn't that good, and they have to step it up big time if they want this film to succeed. trailer 2 better deliver the kaiju.

edit: kaeptain are you seriously accusing this dude of being a fanboy? if some korean director made crappy cloud atlas you'd probably put it in your top 5 of the year. we're all fanboys of something.

but then you don't do that stuff that you said, but neither does jett really. the point i'm trying to make is...

...that cloud atlas and that arnold movie sucked. :p

Movie looks great, this is the first ive heard of it.

I realize this isnt a godzilla movie but will it have a *wink wink nudge nudge*" of course thats not Godzilla" type of monster in it?

Well, at least some of Gaf is on the hype train. Don't let expectations get too high or you'll all be back here whiny and disappointed.

ERMYGERD!
Trailer 2 supposedly coming this weekend! Lets hope for some better views of the Kaijus!

I sincerely hope they keep the Kaiju's out of any footage as much as possible. I want my first eyecontact with them on the big screen. Scaled 1:1. Dat awesomesauce!

Edit: I had the same with Jurassic Park. First time I saw ANY of the dinosaurs, was in the theatre. Brachiosaurus was more impressive on the silver screen than any TV could or can offer.

i think that the combination of giant mecha battlesuits and godzilla, two things i'm normally indifferent about, is pretty damned cool.

but then my hype deflated immensely when I found out this isn't a godzilla film.

it might have godzilla like creatures, but it doesn't have the same impact as the real deal.

the topic title is incredibly misleading then.

Well I can see your point. If I remember correctly, Pacific Rim was announced a year before Legendary said anything about the Godzilla film. The bar will be set pretty high by the time Godzilla comes out.

I just can't see how is can't be a huge hit internationally. The premise is very multi-national, multi-cultural in a genre that is already massive overseas. Plus it looks amazing as fuck.

Not only the premise, but we have an asian girl and a black dude in the main cast !

Except for Crimson Typhoon's silly head, all of the mechs look fantastic.

At this point there's enough fundamentally good components that I don't think it's physically possible for the movie to turn out poor.

A Godzilla movie has a lot of baggage that comes with it.

The main things I care about is concept and execution. Names/Titles are secondary.

Very true. If Godzilla is not done just right, people will be pissed. But all the Kaijus and Jaegers are a from a blank slate. They can do anything they want.

Europe is not on the pacific rim.

Besides, the EU is such a trainwreck that they would never be able to actually work together to build a robot. They'd just have 130 summits to discuss the options and then declare bankruptcy on Portugal or Italy or something.

Just a question. Does Australia have enough money, technology and resources to build something like that in real life?

Australia has a lot of engineers/designers but currently not enough jobs...so it would likely boost the economy and not need them to go overseas for work.

If their was a great demand for one to be built it would increase the manufacturing sector just like times of war.

I say old bean, no Britbot?

Pacific Rim region only...at least so far.

They could come up with a sequel, you never know.

God's had his chance.
Those Jaeger posters are ridiculously awesome. All the designs look different enough for the varying countries but they all look developed upon the same kind of tech and time frame which makes perfect sense and COMEON GYSPYDANGER PUNCH THAT FUCKING LIZARD!!! YEEEEAAAAAAA!

Gonna see this movie drunk and cheer like it's Ali. What a fantastic idea this movie is.

I enjoyed all 3 Transformers movies. I think I'll be okay!

I had trouble making it through the 2nd movie. The third was even worse, it took me 4 tries to get through it all. Thankfully, I didn't pay for any of those movies after the first. It was like every scene had something terrible in it, some awful forced humor, bad camera on the action, the horrible acting, so predictable and the last 40 minutes of just unrelenting action where I couldn't give a shit what was going on was excruciating. Those movies never got better on the wish of just wanting to watch robots punch each other.

Thankfully, I've completely forgotten those movies. Transformers 3 is probably the worst movie I've ever seen, alongside Sleeping Beauty. It's worse when a bad movie is just boring rather than bad funny or unique like The Room.
