PlayStation Plus. 1 Year of Instant Game Collection. 64 Titles.

That's a pretty compelling case.

There are people who this is perfect for.

I'd imagine this is perfect service for some parents. I remember when I was a kid always whining about getting some game. 50$ for a year worth of multiple games is pretty good value. The only minus being are some of the M rated games and such but they can be blocked.

''Mom can I get a new game?''
''Wait for the PS plus update honey!''

Actually I think US has more M rated stuff compared to EU. Not sure.

That's actually quite impresive. I'm still not sure whether I'll be able to stomach extra 50 euros added to PS4 RRP that seems to be a norm here. Hopefully it's like with Vita PS Plus games where you can "buy" them even if you don't own a Vita.

I thought F2P games didn't require PS Plus?

Oh right, well I guess I was considering that titles like Driveclub and Warframe where most of the content is geared towards online play anyway. And PS+ being the service that extends to online play on PS4.

I keep adding every Vita game to my cart when they show up in anticipation of getting one at some point. I have like 12 games, but no Vita, yet, will buy one soon. And will immediately have a backlog/collection.
yeah make sure you get the free indie stuff and whatnot, great games mostly. There are a few good ones free this month.

I just remember reading that F2P games (like Warframe) wouldn't require Playstation Plus in any form. So I got little confused there.

I feel a lil guilty for having only gotten Persona 4 as a legit purchase. All my other PSV games are PS+ freebies from a subscription I had for PS3 games anyway. I'm even greedy enough to grab stuff like Jak trilogy for free when it was accidently listed as such :d.

I need to buy a vita. My laptop tied up my budget for a while.

You can generally find deals out there at a lot of retailers.

I got my Vita for $199 with Lego Batman. Got PS+ and I had even more games to play.

Granted, I haven't beaten any of the ones I've gotten, but still, glad I got some extra games to play.

They stay in your download history iirc.

Yeah they stay in your download history so as long as you still have a plus membership you won't have to pay for them. Keep in mind that just because your membership expires doesn't mean they disappear from your download history but they will need to be purchased to play again without a re-sub.

IGC has been fantastic but yeah the back log is something else. Without even having all the titles I have gotten downloaded at one time I still have 70+ games on my hard drive currently.

I've been very impressed with the service (UK here though), but it does have the negative implication (for the industry I mean) of making me hold off on buying any b-tier release in the hope it'll just come for free a few months later.
Yeah that is kind of an issue, but they get paid by Sony right? I imagine it all works out in the end.

If I really want a game, B tier or not, I'll generally buy it.

You can never finish them all.. because each month comes new ones.. and you'll never get a break because you have to be subscribed to play them.. and that's the cruel vicious cycle.

Hmm, I suppose it's a case by case basis. F2P games without any online multiplayer component probably have no reason to be behind PS+.

And a good year it was. My backlog took a hit with the IGC though[/B].

"I'll never finish them all."

This...

I signed up early and even the games I haven't played or downloaded I made sure to hit the purchase button and either download and then delete or download and then cancel the download.

As long as you are still a PS+ member you can still go back and redownload them later. Also its the games I would never normally buy that make it really worth it. I am loving Anomaly: Warzone Earth, which i probably would not have picked up on my own.

Off the topic:

Not sure if posted here before (create a thread if someone is willing to). German site, PCgames, claims that Sony will announce PS4 release date at Gamescom.

here is the original version:

From the article (translated):
As the site of Gamefront reports, the release date of the PS4 will be released at Gamescom 2013. The information allegedly from Sony circles close

I'm tempted but the free games keep being things I already have or have no interest in.

Yep. That's why the rental pay-wall is rubbing me the wrong way for PS4. Well, that and having to pay to play online.

Do like I did. Stop buying games. I did that mainly because most games would be cheaper at retail brand new a month after release after a while, my PS+ backlog built up and games I put off buying would eventually come to PS+.

I only buy the must must haves like The Last of Us, next game is going to be Beyond" Two Souls. In between that I'll be playing the PS+ backlog.

Well it's pretty easy to avoid if it's not for you. Just don't give them money for it. Overall it's a very good service for those that are interested in it.

I think, in the future (at least for a year), we'll have this monthly:

1 PS4 game
2 PS3 game (hopefully one of them PS4/PS3)
2 PSVita games

That's 60 games for Year Two.

Those who ask about "unsub" or "rental" service... who could be so dumb for "unsub" from this great service? More even now when it's mandatory to play online on PS4?

That sounds pretty good, especially as PS4 begins to build up enough of a catalog to start being further part of PS+.
As said, I really hope they don't skimp now that online play (outside of F2P and MMOs) is also pushing subscriptions, but the pleasant fact that one PS+ covers all three systems gives me hope they keep it up.

I can't stop buying new games if it's something I really want. like, there's no way I'm gonna wait Shadow Fall and Second Son to be on PS+ when I buy a ps4. same with Last of Us and upcoming game like Puppeter etc.

I did buy quite a few games from PS+, and the amount of money I save from discount I think already pay itself.

An amazing service that will hopefully continue with the PS4. They'll have Driveclub: PS+ Edition and a free downloadable title rotating every month on day one, after all.

The only issue I've had with ps+ is not being able to download certain games because my PS3's hdd is too small. I'm looking at you, Uncharted 3!

you can get a 1TB drive for under $70 shipped. I would backup your saves to USB drive first.. and delete all games and stuff to speed it up... besides that not too bad to switch drives.(though my swap failed like twice before it finally worked)

Yeah "free games" you "own".

It's a good service as long as you remember they don't have any obligations to provide that service when they decide it's not worth it anymore one day.

yeah ok. most of us have netflix subscriptions as well. It's the same concept. An all you can eat selection of games, as long as you keep up the subscription.

at 50 dollars a YEAR for 64 games, and next year another 64 games, this is more than reasonable at that price point.

3 or 4 days into my 3 month subscription and my 120GB drive is already crying.

Any hard drive recommendations?

I hate to be that guy but isn't it technically one year of 64 long term rentals...?

Even if that's all they were, $5 per rental (that's being cheap) for 1 game a week would only get you 10 games for the price of PS+ for a year where you get way more. And you can play them as long as you're subscribed, not a week. No late fees or having to return them.

Bottom line is that it's a great value and people will always find a way to downplay it. I love it and the fact that they are stretching it across all 3 platforms for one price is awesome. I don't buy every new game that comes immediately so usually the majority of the selected games are things I haven't played. And if I love the game and want to keep it forever I go out and get a physical copy.

Why not use the PS+ cloud saving for that? Works perfect. :)

Whenever I think about signing up for ps+, I look at this list (well, this + the previous years stuff as well) and remind myself there is 1 game on this list I actually want that costs $10 (FFT). The rest would just be stuff I'd rather play on pc.

ps+ is a great deal if you only play on the playstation systems and never buy new games and never plan on changing consoles/don't care about being able to replay games if you do change consoles.

I finally signed up. Played through The Cave once and currently enjoying Little Big Planet Karting.

Currently plan on trying Knytt, X-Com and Vanquish too. I had tried the Vanquish demo and just wasn't feeling it, but for 'free' I'll give it a deeper look. I expect to completely suck at X-Com, but again, easy to try it now.

The best is getting the year when there's a sale. I got mine end of March I think it was where you got an extra 3 months AND the $10 for anything on PSN when you got them.

Plan to pick up a year whenever I see it on sale again just to be set for a bit into the next gen, cause why not?

Me either, but again, I don't need to buy 64 games.

PS+ is incredible. In fact, it's too good to be true. You know they're eventually going to gut it when enough people get in on the deal.

But man, until then, it's just an amazing service.
