Persona 4 Arena Sequel Announced [Japanese arcade-only update for now]

I think it will be indirect though. I think a sequel to Arena proves what most of us already suspected: That Hashino will do his own thing.

I always figured that would have it's own unique cast, so this should assuage any gears that it won't.

I think the console version will be around May next year in Japan, and a few weeks after in the US.
Nooooo. It's not even two years since it was announced. It was the end of August 2011.
Off the top of my head, I think the arcade version of Arena came out in March, and then the console version was July.

Yea. I wonder btw. The arcade version of P4A didn't have all the characters at first. Not Elizabeth, Labrys or Shadow Labrys playable. Maybe this one doesn't have all the characters either. I mean once they reveal the other 2 slots, maybe there are more? *shrug*
There will be more. I think they've at least prepared for a bunch going off the shadow operatives image. Wether they will use them all and who they will be remains to be seen.

Nope, it came out in Japanese arcades in April 2012. Liz, Labrys and Shadow Labrys were time-released over the next ~2 months. Home version came out in August for US/Japan -- which is much, much more quickly than normal. Who knows if the pattern will repeat?
For Europe's sake, I kinda hope not.

But seriously why no Marie? What's the point of retconning her into the story if they're not gonna incorporate her into any of the sequels? Not even in the anime...

I hope it's just as a navigator or story cameo, though. She doesn't deserve the spot as a playable character.
Technically she came after the anime, but I agree she should appear in Arena in some fashion. Navigator maybe.

Footage is looking great, love the UI changes and Junpei looks fun to play. If it were up to me Persona 5 would be just a fighting game with RPG elements.

A few observations:
1. Looks like the game will justify fighting in real world areas by using the Dark Hour. Note that there's no more "TV static" on the levels.
2. If that is the Dark Hour, note that the sun is out, and that it's gigantic.
3. If you look closely, you'll see that there's a gigantic moon moving to eclipse the sun.
Conclusion: What the fuck is going on?
EDIT: Not two moons, one's a balloon.

It was a massive bummer that Shadow Labrys was not a navigator in the original game. My thought is she would constantly be berating the player instead of actually supporting them. With every character having a Shadow version now, maybe something like that will be possible.
With a sequel, there are SO many little things that can be added to improve the overall experience. Custom match up intros, custom match up themes and actually having "I'll Face Myself -Battle-" as a song that plays (even if it's just a character's normal version vs. their Shadow). Things like that.
Mitsuru's story in area started off
with some kind of "dark hour generator" going haywire.

It means that the world is ending and in the end of P4AC, everyone dies and then the apocalypse.
Which leads into Persona 5.

Could be related to the properties of the Dark Hour. Since they even mention in P4A that the dark hour and the TV world are closely linked, it wouldn't be surprising if they have similar effects on the world. (Like how the dark hour turned the school into a giant evil tower)
This would hardly be surprising either.
