Four in February - A Backlog Reborn

Grief.exe

The challenge is simple, complete four games in February. They can be games you started in January 2014, or April 1997, it doesn't matter, just get them done by February.

Everyone seemed to make a huge dent in their backlog last month, I should have extended the goal to 5 or 6.

Tools:

Backloggery
How Long to Beat
GAF Backlog Blitz Thread

Past Threads:

Three in January - New Year, new games from the Steam sale
Four in December - Next-Gen has Started, Last-Gen Problems
Three in November - Race to the Finish
Three in October - The End is Nigh Edition
Three in September - Backlog Warrior
Four in August - Backlog Declassified
Five in July - The Ultimate Backlog Challenge
Four in June - Can You Handle The Backlog Heat?
Three in May - Backlog Returns 3D
Two in April. Destroyin' Backlogs HD Edition
Three in March. Destroyin' Backlogs One Thread at a Time
Four in February, take a bite out of your backlog

My List:

Resident Evil 4 (PC) - I haven't played this since the PS2 release, which seems like so long ago. I very excited to play this one after reading all the positive LTTP threads over the years. The port is actually looking extremely good as well.

Metro: Last Light (PC) - I am not quite enjoying this one as much as 2033, but it is still a very good experience. I believe I am on the last level, will probably polish this one off quite quickly.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PC)

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (3DS)

Gone Home (PC)

Finnish so far:
  • Cook, Serve, Delicious (2/1)
  • Redshirt (2/7)
  • Survivor Squad (2/11)
  • Ultionus: A Tale of Petty Revenge (2/27)

I think maybe I can manage this (I just missed out last month by a single day).

So far:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I've got some other games that I can maybe pull off over the next few weeks, so beating three more games seems completely doable to me. I could finally get my unfinished percentage on Backloggery under 65%.

I'm in. Had to work long hours in January so I didn't get much done on the games side, but I think 4 in February will be doable.

Pikmin 3 (Wii U, in progress)
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3, in progress)
Batman: Arkham Origins (360)
To The Moon (PC)

Just finished Limbo. As it stands, hopefully:

Policenauts (PS1)
Tales of Xillia (PS3)
Ys IV: Memories of Celceta (PSV)

Belatedly, in January I finished Soul Sacrifice, The Walking Dead Season 1, and Guitar Hero Metallica.

First time ive joined one of these.

My list:

Ni no kuni
Batman arkham: origins
Assassins creed: black flag
Far cry 3.

I've started on them all at some point then stopped. Targets may help me defeat my backlog.

Is it still a backlog if im just wrapping up harder runs/better rankings?

DMC3: DMD (completed it a couple years ago, wanna go again)

Bayonetta: Pretty much everything, since I have only done a normal play though, which is a disgrace I know.

Bravely Default.

Dangan Ronpa.

How long do you have to have a game for it to be considered backloggable?

So far:

Assassin's Creed 2 (PC) - almost finished, but man it started to wear out its welcome.
Batman: Arkham City (PC) - been sitting at 90% for two years.
Batman: Arkham Origins (PC).
Lords of Shadow 2 (PC) - if backlog counts as soon as you own it.

Not sure which of these I will finish.

Uncharted 3
Witch & Hero
D&D: Chronicles of Mystara
Rogue Legacy
10000000

Unchained Blades
Valdis Story: Abyssal City
Shining Force: Sword of Hajya
Bioshock Infinite

Nothing set in stone but heres what im thinking.

Resident Evil Revelations
cross post from the 52 games thread.
Finished Revelations tonight . I really enjoyed going back to the old RE setup. The story was so damn campy it felt like an old PS2 era game. I'm hoping the next RE game stays on the same track. I messed around with Raid mode...it's pretty good. Grinder is my favorite character to use.

Anarchy Reigns

Brothers

Four in the shortest month of the year? Hmmmm........

Lets go with:

DuckTales Remastered
Rouge Legacy
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Not really sure on my games this month, so I wouldn't be surprised if it fluctuates based on available time. I know I'm getting Bravely Default this month; I can't remember the last RPG that I beat in the same month that it was released, but I'm keep my fingers crossed.

Wrapped up NES Remix this morning. I was really having fun at the beginning of the game, unlocking new games, waiting to be surprised, but the later half of the game was pretty tedious and boring. The last bonus mission was so mindless as well, nothing creative about it at all. The idea had a lot of potential, but I feel like they just half-assed it.

  1. NES Remix
  2. DmC (Devil May Cry)
  3. Batman: Arkham Origins
  4. Bravely Default

1. Dead Space 3
2. Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk
3. TBD
4. Dragon Dragoon 3 or Yakuza Ishin if enough time, otherwise I will substitute somewith shorter

State of Decay - I'm close to finishing it so I should be able to get through it this month

Sanctum 2 - This might take awhile depending on how much trouble I have beating the last level

edit: I might pick up ME 3 citadel dlc since it's on sale on xbl but other than that idk what else ill play

How long do you have to have a game for it to be considered backloggable?

Doesn't matter. You may have only bought them yesterday and they still count.

Like always, I'll just list a bunch of games I'd like to play and hope I manage to get four done:
  • Bioshock Infinite
  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
  • Doki-Doki Universe
  • Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns
  • Kingdom Hearts HD (hard playthrough)
  • Lone Survivor
  • Mark of the Ninja
  • Proteus
  • The Witcher 2
  • The Wolf Among Us - Episode 2

No idea how much time I'll get to play games this month though, as I'll be super busy.

I'd like to participate. My first time in one of these threads. This month will be crazy in terms of obligations, so I'll try to mix smaller games with bigger ones. This also means that I'll probably need to stop letting Hearthstone consume most of my gaming time.

1) Legend of Zelda: OOT 3DS -- I picked this up last month and zipped through the main quest. The whole reason I got it though is to play Master Quest, which I missed out on many years ago. So my plan is to play through Master Quest and maybe even 100 percent it, depending.

2) Guacamelee: Gold Edition -- The SO and are probably done with Super Mario 3D World (hooray for finally beating Champion's Road) so this is our next co-op target. I've heard it's pretty short, all things considered, so it should be fine even if we only get to play when we are together and have free time.

3) The Wonderful 101 -- My replacement Wii U game, I've been looking forward to playing this since I got it on sale. I got quite a few WiiU games over Xmas and since they were mostly gifts I'm trying to prioritize playing them over purchases I made on my own. Let fam and friend's know that their gift was appreciated and won't sit in the cabinet untouched for ages.

4) TBD -- Something shortish and for PC, to balance out other choices. I'm leaning towards Finishing Borderlands 2, I'm fairly far into it right now, but I also have most of the DLC... so, decisions, decisions.

1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
2. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
3. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy
4. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Pretty sure I'll at least finish all of these. Then there's The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 and hopefully I'll be able to play that The Last of Us DLC.

1. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
2. Tearaway
3. Mario 3D World

Should be doable by all means

So I failed on this front, I beat Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, beat Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, beat Zone of Enders 1, beat Ratchet and Clank: ACiT, and beat Uncharted 2, but didn't get to games #2 and #3.

For this month, I hope to beat:

1. Super Mario 3D World
2. The Last Of Us
3. Zone of Enders 2
4. Valkyria Chronicles

I made it last month - this month will be a bit more difficult since its now 4 games and it's tax season again, so with all the extra work I'm not going to have my free time to play.

I've started a lot of these games already so that should help a bit.

Call of Duty Ghost Campaign - Xbox One
Battlefield 4 Campaign - Xbox One
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney - DS(so close on this one)
Tearaway(Vita)
Zelda Link Between Worlds(3DS)
Super Mario 3D Land(3DS)
Super Mario 3D World(Wii U)
Marvel Lego(Xbox One)

My backlog is too large to dent at the moment being a full-time dad but I'm hoping I can finish up Platinum of Tales of Xillia this month before starting another game in my backlog.

... that or I'll feel the urge to play Lightning Returns at launch while I wait for InFamous:SS.

1) OlliOlli (Two Pros plus Rad Mode left)
2) Tomb Raider Definitive Edition
3) Knack (Only 14 and 15 left)
4) Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Pretty busy this month so I'll be lucky to get through this much.

So did you actually finish RE4 the first time around Grief? I'm actually interested in trying the game since I never played the original, but most people's impressions of the game are riddled with nostalgia glasses, and it's hard to take them at face value. I'm wondering how the gameplay holds up today with all the advances in the OTS third person perspective style since. I remember you saying in the January thread that you're saving it for this month, I'm interested to hear how it goes with the PC version. Maybe I should research some LTTPs.

I did finish it the first time around, but it has been so long I really don't remember too much.

The LTTPs I have been reading lately have all been very positive, even for first time players. Before the Steam version was announced I was actually thinking of picking up the Wii version to emulate via Dolphin.

Got sidetracked in january since I added more games to my infinite backlog. :^p Will finish:

Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed 2
Assassin's Creed brotherhood
Killzone HD or Brothers: A tales of two sons

Xenoblade Chronicles
I swear this will be the month I finish this game
Far Cry 3
Rayman Origins
Fire Emblem Awakening

I've already got significant progress in Xenoblade, FC3 and logged in close to 10 hours of FE so I feel confident this list should be completed

I was going to have retro city rampage be on my list of games to beat in February but it was so bad that I had to delete it a couple hours in.

That said I'm hoping to beat:

Fallout New Vegas
Renegade Ops
Trine 2
Lego Lord of the Rings

I think I'll go for these games, though in January only one of the six games I finished was on the list I planned:

Donkey Kong Country Returns: Currently up to World 7, I'll aim to finish it before Tropical Freeze is released.
Rochard: I'm about halfway through it, judging by HLTB. I like it.
The Book of Unwritten Tales: I'll start again, but I only played an hour of it before. I'll take advantage of my interest in Broken Age to finish this.
Atelier Ayesha: In preparation for Escha & Logy, after not liking it when I played it first (but liking the other PS3 games in the series).

EDIT: Finished:
Super Mario Galaxy
Jazzpunk
Knack's Quest
Knack

Just beat Shin Megami Tensei IV last night. Is that count? No? Okay. Here is my list then:

-Nier
-Jeanne D'Arc
-Wonderful 101
-Bravely Default

Its rather to be a pretty safe list since I already play the first three in January. But with MH3U, Toukiden, and new semester, there is high chance I'll stumble on my target.

Beat Bioshock Infinite and Brothers last month, but not Ys II, so that goes in here:

1. Ys II
2. Remember Me
3. Wing Commander I
4. Tentatively Wing Commander II

Short month and I'm on a holiday for a week in the middle of it, so 4 might be a stretch. Anyway:

Killzone: Shadow Fall
Brothers: A Take of Two Sons
Saints Row 4
God of War: Ascension

Wonderful 101
Bravely Default
Fire Emblem Awakening
Final Fantasy III

Who am I kidding, I'll mostly likely end up playing Dota 2

Aw man, I expect this month to be pretty crazy as far as finding time to game. February/March are the worst/most demanding months of the year when it comes to my job (financial statement reporting, hedge funds, specifically). Knee deep in some 60 hour weeks already, just going to get worse. I also decided to start replaying/working on games I've already beaten (unlocking more stuff, going for 100%, etc.), so not sure what kind of "backlog" stuff I'll knock it. Lots of new shit's dropping too this month that I won't have time for either, hah! I'll update as the weeks go by, but right now I can't even think about what I plan to "beat". =/

I'll be tackling:

C̶r̶y̶s̶i̶s̶ ̶3̶ ̶(̶P̶S̶3̶)̶
Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360)
Grand Theft Auto Five (PS3)
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (Vita)

Bonus:

K̶n̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶(̶P̶S̶4̶)̶ ̶
Brothers (PS3)

Edit: Finished Knack. Definitely not perfect, but not terrible either. I'm almost done Crysis 3 as well, though it doesn't look like I'm going to finish Sly Cooper. That said, I'm finally making my way through GTAV after dropping it midway through. Decided to start from the beginning again so it's probably gonna take up most of my time.

Edit 2: And that's Crysis 3 done! Really enjoyed it compared to Crysis 2, though I still think Crysis 1 is the best. Hope we see more of the franchise now that the PS4 and XB1 are out. Or at least an HD Collection. Now to dig into Sly Cooper and GTAV.

Battlefield 4 campaign, provided I don't suffer a save corruption that PS+ decides to copy down out of spite.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Gravity Rush

Uncharted 3

...And the worst part is knowing I lack the motivation or time to do all of these this month... A year ago I would have never considered the idea of me having a backlog larger than Uncharted 3.

Vanquish (going for challenge 6)
Thomas Was Alone
Brothers
Persona 4 Golden
not happening

I only beat Wind Waker HD last month so I really need to do better this month.

Metal Gear Solid
Pikmin 3
LEGO City Undercover
SteamWorld Dig

Should be doable.

Gonna aim to beat:

FFXIII (depending on how much I screw around with the side quests)
Danganronpa (when it releases)
SteamWorld Dig (think I'm pretty close to the end now)
Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

Will also probably be able to finish Bravely Default.
