With the Winter cold and Christmas breaks creeping in, this month is a perfect time to play some more games! Get to playing your favorite games that have been on those shelves this generation.

The challenge is simple, complete four games in December. They can be games you started in November 2013, or December 1997, it doesn't matter, just get them done by December.

Four in February, take a bite out of your backlog

My List:

Batman: Arkham City (PC) - I am really having a blast with this one. I want to go back and collect more trophies and modes, but I think I will save that for New Game + sometime down the line.

SteamWorld Dig (PC) - Picked this one up day one on release and I was not disappointed. I am already looking forward to my next play through.

Last of Us (PS3) - Just picked up a new PS3 on Black Friday! Just barely started this one but it is pulling me in. Going to finish up AC, then get back to this.

Metro: Last Light (PC) - Got this as a gift from the ever generous Xelios during the Autumn sale. Can't wait to get started as Metro 2033 was a great game.

SMT IV (3DS) - I finish it when I finish it at this point.

I think I can join this this time.

My List:
Assassin's Creed 4 for PS3 (this will probably be my console main game after I finish exams)

Tearaway (Vita), heard it was short-ish so I think I'll end up finishing this one for sure.

Dragon's Crown (Vita), no rush on this one.

Phoenix Wright 3, will probably finish this first because I'm in the middle of the last chapter already and really want to see the ending anyways!

Once finals are over I've gotta move it and get some of my games done before Christmas.

Wonderful 101 (Wii U) - It's been sitting here since Spetember with 4 hours played. Gotta do it.

Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS) - I've been playing it on and off since it came out, 15 hour-ish in now. Going to beat it, I have too many RPGs on my plate and Bravely Default and stuff are coming out early next year.

SteamWorld Dig (3DS) - This game is so good but I've played way too little of it.

Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4) - Been playing the multplayer for 3 weeks but barely touched the campaign. Gotta get that campaign done, son.

That's a pretty good December.

My list. Zombie takeover:

1) Dead Rising 3 - maybe 25% done

2) The Last of Us - picked this up on Black Friday.

3) Far Cry Blood Dragon - got this on cyber Monday.

4) Ryse - beat sp. Need to get mp achievements and replay some story.

Rest of my backlog:
Forza 5
Ghosts
Dishonored
Ratched and clack hd remakes.
Borders lands
100% gta v
Replay halo aniversary.

Hello first time seeing this thread.

I have a giant list of games i want to finish, does anyone have any good advice how to pick what game to finish first?

Failed to meet the target last month by one game. Start school again next month so I'm gonna give the backlog my all this month.

Super Mario 3D World - Not sure how much post-game content there is but that's what I need to finish.

Shin Megami Tensei IV - I've been thinking about this game a lot recently. Decided to finally hunker down and put some serious hours into it.

Pokemon Y - Got 7 badges in the first couple of weeks after release but burnt out. As an easy and laid back RPG, it'll be the perfect companion for SMT4.

No idea what the 4th game will be. I've started far too many games in the past few weeks and feel like continuing none.

Persona 3 Portable (PSP) (Last boss! Started this nearly 4 years ago...)

Last of Us (PS3) (Still in the wrapping...)

Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS) (I honestly don't know why I haven't finished this)

Catherine (PS3) (No excuse)

Assassin's Creed IV - 100% done with single player as of yesterday.
Super Mario 3D World - Done with all but the final secret world.

Will finish this month:

Tearaway
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Senran Kagura Burst
Ys Celceta
Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God (hopefully)

Beat Valkyria Chronicles 2 (again) on the 1st, so one-down already.

2. Killzone Mercenary

3. Bioshock Infinite

4. Bioshock.

FPS fest let's go!

Still have about a month before my PS4 arrives, so might as well clean up a few titles in my (PS3) backlog.

1 - Deus Ex Human Revolution
2 - Remember Me
3 - Uncharted 3
4 - Thomas Was Not Alone

I should probably finish the last one first in case anything gets spoiled during the VGX this Saturday. And since I have the next 3 days off, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Edit: Added a 4th.

Right now I'm focusing on these.

1. Outlast (PC)

2. Saints Row IV (PC)

3. Pokemon X (3DS), started last night and I'm 4 hours in on 2nd badge

4. Mario 64 (N64/Emulator), 20 stars in.

TLOU- got the ps3 bf bundle so I've been playing that
Fire emblem awakening - Just got it so idk about that but I'll try
Tomb Raider - I've been on and off on this one. Got a lot done right before GTAV came out and haven't played since :/
Arkham Origins - Got it with my ps3 too, haven't touched it yet though. We'll see.

There are tons of other shit in my backlog that I'll be playing once finals are over too.

Post impressions of these two games. I'm playing TLOU as well, and have Fire Emblem sitting on my shelf.

I really want to grab the two GBA Fire Emblem games since I heard they were magnificent. That library is ridiculous.

Cool thread. Hadn't seen this before. I'm going to try this:

1. Splinter Cell Blacklist: My 360 actually crapped out on me after buying this, but I'm renting this on PS3 now. Hope to finish it, but I'm not the best at stealth games and I can only play this in small doses.

2. Okamiden: Recently picked this back out of the backlog. Actually love it, but was without my DS for a while after it came out and it got away from me. Trying to finish it up on my 3DS now, but Zelda came out and I got sidetracked again!

3. New Super Mario Bros. 2: Alright game, but don't love it. Still fun though.

4. Whatever Gamefly sends me next!: Do rentals count as in my backlog... haha. I don't know what they will get me next, but maybe I can finish it too this month for a fourth game!

Oh wait, I think I finished Zelda this month actually. Sunday night. Will try to do these three plus the mystery Gamefly game too!

Im going to go with

mario 3d land.

tearaway.

Killer instinct for a bit (im not a fighter fan but im intrigued)

resongun.

Four?!?! I struggled to finish 3 in November, but here goes:

AC4 - Do you know that you can single-handedly sabotage a well-equipped Man O' war by parking The Jackdaw somewhere, then proceed to wholesale slaughter the entirety of its crew by yourself?

Splinter Cell Blacklist - A Black Friday spoils. Going for Ghost/Non-lethal as always.

Expeditions: Conquistador - Deep TBS RPG. Thanks Durante for reminding us about this gem.

Knack - Well, new-gen game and already a backlog. Will play on Hard, as per Gaffers recommendation.

This is gonna be tough with finals the next two weeks but here's my list:

Ico
Brutal Legend
Mirror's Edge
Bioshock Infinite

Haven't opened FE yet but I'll get to it. My 3ds hasn't been used a lot since I calmed down on pokemon so I'll get to it real soon. Been playing TLOU all weekend and so far so good. Other than a few times I got stuck because of my stupidity everything is fun. I see why it's liked but don't yet see the goty material. It's already pretty emotional though and I'm sure it'll drag me in real soon.

Some of these:

Disgaea D2 - Chapter 3
Armoured Core V: Verdict Day - Starting
Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia - Starting
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 - 2nd day

And these:

Pandora's Tower - Started
Blazing Souls: Accelate - Just started
Riveria - A little bit into the game
Growlanser : Wayfarer of Time - A little bit into the game
Final Fantasy : The 4 Heroes of Light - A fair bit into the game
Ragnarok Odyssey - A fair bit into the game
Persona 2: Innocent Sin - A fair bit into the game
Advance Wars: Dark Conflict - A little into the game
Last Remant - A little bit into the game
Lunar Genesis - A little bit into the game
Mugen Souls - A little bit into the game
Agarest Generations of War: 2 - A little bit into the game
Atelier Rorona Plat - 30%
Tales of Graces F - Somewhat into the game
The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask - A little bit into the game

3DS:

1.) A Link Between Worlds

I played about two hours before the wife gave it a try and promptly became obsessed with it!
She's almost finished so I'll be able to spend some quality time with her again (talkin about the 3DS here ;)

Steam:

2.) LEGO Lord of the Rings
3.) Call of Juarez Gunslinger
4.) The Swapper

Aside from LEGO LOTR (local co-op!), I randomly chose two games that I've been wanting to play for a while.
Unfortunately, when it comes to my Steam library, I've yet to free myself of the bondage that is Civilization V

Best of luck and happy gaming!

Here's all the games I may potentially play, I'll decide which ones to play at the time:
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Mark of the Ninja
  • Papers, Please
  • Persona 4 Golden - Second playthrough this time.
  • Resident Evil 6
  • Tearaway
  • Vanquish
  • The Witcher 2

Just beat Contrast in one sitting... so

1.) Contrast
2.) ACIV (Might take up most of the month..
3.) Killzone Shadow Fall (Campaign)
4.) Battlefield 4(Campaign)

I play a lot of games in november, I think I can beat some this month.

1. Phoenix Wright 5
2. Mass Effect 3 Citadel dlc
3. Tales of Xillia
4. Killzone Mercenary

There's still a lot other game like smt4, puppeteer and tearaway, but those 4 games are the one I almost finished. That's one game each for 3ds, vita, ps3 and pc. :D

Tearaway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa Rebirth, and Tales of Xillia. I've already made significant progress into all of these so finishing them up won't be too tough. I'd like to clear a couple more too, if possible.

So yeah, mainly PS4 this time around:

1) Killzone: Shadow Fall. Finished it last night, quite an okay game. It's deserving of the 7s it received. I'd recommend it if you like relatively hard shooters.

2) Contrast. Started this 2 nights ago, seems okay, pretty easy. Will probably get through in the next couple of nights.

3) Resogun. Played a bit, but I'll tackle it properly after Contrast.

4) Flower. Free with PS4/PS3/Vita cross buy. Will either play on Vita or PS4.

1. Resogun - this one shouldn't be too hard to complete; no way am I getting the platinum though

2. Assassin's Creed IV - this could take awhile since I'm very meticulous about getting the collectibles

3. Knack - playing this in short spurts should see me to the end relatively quickly

4. Soul Sacrifice - have no idea if I'll be able to finish this one

Totally failed November, finishing just one game. Though I'll have more time in December, so let's try it again:

  1. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (more than halfway through, all downloadable puzzles completed)
  2. Demon's Souls (last two bosses)
  3. Ni no Kuni (a little more than halfway through)
  4. Kid Icarus: Uprising (new)

This month tends to be a bit messy; I spend a lot of time at my parents' without access to all my home systems. As such, I don't have the full month for some games. On top of that, what I play will be dictated somewhat by what I load my laptop up with before leaving. So... nothing here is set in stone, all my plans are malleable through necessity.

So, let's adapt last month's list:

Can only play at home:
Assassin's Creed IV
Black Mirror
Transformers: War For Cybertron

Can play over the whole month:
Typing of the Dead: Overkill.
Etrian Odyssey 2
Broken Sword 2 (Want to play through the first four before embarking on 5)
Full Bore
I'm not sure what to play as my Big Handheld Game after EO2. Possibly something on Vita from PS+. Might return to my Phoenix Wright series playthrough. Could be anything! I do still have last years' Layton outstanding...

INTENDING TO START:
GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony
AC3: The Tyranny of King Washington.

A GAME-RELATED THING THAT PROBABLY MERITS A MENTION:
My playthrough of the Lego series has reached Lego Harry Potter - but I've not read any books beyond #5. That's something else I might be tempted to do, and when I've finished the books, it'll open up the option of playing the game.

I haven't really beaten anything since this summer thanks to FFXIV and grad school, but the semester is over, and I am determined to knock a few out this month! My goals for now are:

-Persona 4 Golden (already like 30 hours in)
-Ys Memories of Celceta
-A Link to the Past (replay)
-A Link Between Worlds

This may change as i go and I decide I want to play something else. Determined to do this and hopefully more!

Starbound is going to consume me for the foreseeable future but I'll try this anyway.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Braid
Botanicula
Machinarium

I picked shorter games on my backlog this month because I decided that in January I'm devoting my time to Fallout 3 and in February I'll do New Vegas.

March belongs to Dark Souls 2.

Three short but amazing games.

I'll go with:

- The Wonderful 101 (to be started)
- Rayman Legends (to be finished)
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (to be started).

I'll have to decide on what the fourth game will be.

Four? Allright, gonna cheat a bit.

Need for Speed Rivals (Fake edit: Actually completed this at 2 am Sunday morning, so quick start off the line!)
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (should finish this later tonight or tomorrow)
Super Mario 3D World
Batman: Arkham Origins

Complete those and then I move on to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

I've been waiting for this thread!

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen (Thank you PS+)
Hotline Miami (Thank you PS+)
Mutant Blob Attacks
Devil Survivor Overclocked
Catherine

I got kind of lucky (if you want to call it that) and finished Dragon's Dogma on the first and hotline shortly after. Mutant blobs should only take me another day or two to finish and I've put a lot of work in Devil Survivor (2 days left).

The holiday season is going to bring in a bunch of games so I need to start taking an axe to my backlog. I am going to run out of portable games to play on the way to work sooner or later.

This thread could be the answer to a growing ps+ backlog on ps3 and vita... Plus a rather unhealthy addiction I seem to have developed for buying digital games for the vita that I've clearly no time for :)

1) Killzone Mercenary
2) GTAV
3) Hotine Miami
4) Thomas Was Alone

Truthfully, if I do half that list, I'll be happy!

So time-poor :(

I'll start with these. Not really backlog stuff, but still shit I've bought recently nonetheless:

3DS:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

XBOX One:
Crimson Dragon

Vita:
Tearaway
Ys: Celceta

Finished Zelda yesterday afternoon. Loved pretty much everything about it. Cleared the normal game with all heart pieces & octopus buddies collected, challenge tower done twice, all items, no deaths, etc. Unlocked Hero Mode, but will take a small break and try and get some Street Pass challenges done in-between other games.

I'm about 11 hours into Ys on Nightmare and about 35% complete Tearaway. Will be focusing on them quite a bit.

Getting my XBOX One on Thursday and downloading CD ASAP. Will be playing that shit HARD.

Need for Speed Rivals
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Super Mario 3D World
Batman: Arkham Origins

Assassin's Creed was really good, but man I hated the ship parts of that game. Speaking of Assassins, on to Mario!

I'll try to actually get some done this month.

Tales of Xillia - playing as Jude in chap. 3

Zero Escape - only missing about 5 more endings

Killzone Shadowfall - haven't started it yet

Castlevania LoS - can't recall where I left off

And Titanfall.

I'm more excited for games coming in early 2014 than all of 2013.

Whaaaat? 2013 had so many great games though. Titanfall + Infamous + Dark Souls look great but I'm not really sure what else is coming out that'll be as good as Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, GTAV and a slew of others

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Ni No Kuni - So close on this one. Put it down for some reason but have spent a couple days getting back into the swing of things.

Dragon's Crown - Enjoying this one but waiting for the above 2 before I tackle it.

Rage - Been meaning to beat this bad boy. Bout 40% complete right now. MAYBE get there this year but doubtful. I'll try.

Bioshock Infinite was an utter disappointment and Tomb Raider, while good in the beginning, became a chore quite quickly.

Won't play GTAV until it lands on PC, but I am playing Last of Us right now.
