Anti-Gay Activist And “19 Kids And Counting” Star Josh Duggar Named In Child Sex-Abuse Case

http://www.newnownext.com/anti-gay-...duggar-named-in-child-sex-abuse-case/05/2015/

We avoid trying to learn anything about 19 Paychecks and Counting clan the Duggars, but when InTouch reported eldest son and anti-gay activist Josh Duggar was investigated for alleged child sexual abuse, we couldn’t look away.

It seems that back in 2005, patriarch Jim Bob Duggar caught Josh, then 17, leaving a young girl’s bedroom and called the authorities after he “learned something inappropriate happened.”

A source told the tabloid: “I saw and read the report and it clearly stated that Jim Bob brought his son Josh into the Arkansas State Police and spoke to a state trooper about Josh’s involvement in alleged inappropriate touching with a minor.”

Holy shit update:

http://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/...leged-sex-offenses-for-more-than-a-year-58906

The police report on this got released, and it's worse than we thought. He has been molesting his younger sisters for years, ugh.

In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, Josh Duggar, his wife Anna, and his parents Jim Bob and Michelle are speaking out in response to reports that Josh was once accused of molesting five underage girls as a teen.

"Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends," Josh, 27, tells PEOPLE in a statement. "I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life."

Josh has resigned from his position at the Family Research Council as a result of the accusations becoming public, but his family has stood behind him.

These people seem like really, really good people. It would be too bad if this were true, but is only a reflection on the son, not the rest of the family, and especially the father for reporting it.

That's...hmm. Is there any new movement, or just the one trip to the police ten years ago? Has anyone actually come forward?

Good on Jim Bob for hauling his son to the police. Great example of moral courage. It's too bad the officer they spoke to turned out to be a (later) convicted pedophile.

It's in the article, the cop they reported it to was a pedophile himself who didn't follow up on the report and by the time the case got pushed to another department the statue of limitations had run out.

Josh was suspected of sexual assault in the fourth degree but the state trooper who took Jim Bob’s statement never followed up. The officer was later convicted on child pornography charges himself and sentenced to 56 years in prison.

Eventually the Arkansas State Police alerted the Crimes Against Children Division and Springdale Police Department about the situation, but by then the three-year statute of limitations ran out and the case couldn’t be pursued any further.

“A technicality prevented any further action,” a source familiar with the case told In Touch. “That’s been the biggest regret in all of this.”

no age on the young girl?

Yeah, this is what I'm stuck on. While I'm sure we're all eager to pile on the alleged misdeeds of someone who's lifestyle and politics we disapprove of, without knowing the age of the other party and whether it was consensual I can't bring myself to be outraged. Let's be honest, Jim Bob considers all sexual contact before marriage or for any purpose other than procreation to be "inappropriate" - for all we know he caught his son and a 16-year-old girl together and decided to put the fear of straight white Christian God into him.

socially yes despite their beliefs

That's kind of an oxymoron

Now 27, Josh is the executive director of FRCAction, the lobbying arm of the rabidly anti-gay Family Research Council, which works tirelessly to fight against marriage equality, hate-crimes laws, anti-bullying programs and the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

If he was only 17 we're going to need an age on this girl. Seniors go out with freshmen all the time, but if she like 10 or something...

I'm kind of impressed that his father would do that.

Not really unless you consider a single character flaw totally invalidates anything a person has done with their life.

Good doesn't mean perfect.

There's a difference between a character flaw and actively campaigning to fuck with other people's lives

This really shouldn't be a difficult discussion.

"Young girl." Without an age, it's hard to understand the scope of this alleged crime. Was the young girl 14 or 4, you know what I man?

Good does mean that you aren't trying to make other people's lives worse for no reason other than your favorite book.

Poor TLC, you used to be worth something...

Not for a long, long time.

Let's not give him too much credit - if something truly illegal happened I doubt he'd have taken his son in. He has a reputation to uphold.

I'm not going to say the guy's a saint or anything but he brought his son to the police and told them that he may have inappropriately touched a minor. That probably wasn't the easiest of decisions.

"Single character flaw" sure is one way of stating that the guy actively campaigns against marriage equality, hate-crimes laws, anti-bullying programs and for don't ask don't tell.

Good on senior, I guess. Unless the girl was 16 and he was just pissed at his son for doing it outside marriage.

Indeed. Much as I love to see hateful bastards torn down, this doesn't seem like the thing that will do it.

I don't know the particular situation behind this guy, and he probably is a giant douche. Just commenting on the fact that I believe it's possible for someone to still be good person even if they antigay/antiwhatever.

lol what kind of title is this when the guy was 17 and the age of the 'young girl' is not specified.

Maybe they can't release the age because it was one of his sisters and that would tell us exactly who it was.

I disagree on a fundamental level. I do not think you can be a good person if you actively campaign to take away rights from other people. This isn't the same as "They have different economic beliefs than me" or "I disagree with their religion". It's not about politics or personal beliefs, it's about the plain fact that if you devote any of your time to trying to take away or prevent rights from others because they're different, the world would be better off without you. On balance, that person is a bad person.

I'd view it more as a good act coming from a reprehensible person. I suppose it demonstrates how complex humans are.

Why?

The dad obviously enjoys fucking his wife.

Maybe because he's so horrified of the idea of another guy touching his daughters. He doesn't want them to kiss before marriage. That's some seriously creepy shit.

Well I'd like to believe that most of these people are acting out of ignorance and not malice. Least then you know it's possible to change their mind.

If the guy is literally campaigning against anti-bullying laws of all things then I don't think he can be considered a good person.

And you leap from him not wanting others to touch them to him obviously wanting to touch them?

Good Lord.

anti-gay activist "good people" ???????

Yes...just because you hold anti-gay views doesn't automatically make someone a bad person... Antiquated views? Yes. Offensive view even? Sure. Bad person? Your definition and mine of a bad person obviously isn't the same.

A bizarre turn of events prevented police and prosecutors from finishing their investigation and possibly prosecuting. The state trooper who originally took the report about Josh shortly before 2005 never followed up. That state trooper was later convicted on child pornography charges and is serving a 56-year prison sentence.

Good grief. Trooper let the ball drop, statute of limitations ran out.

edit: looks like someone beat me to it

Clearly - not sure why you guys are arguing about this when everyone has a different idea of what makes a good person.

Personally I agree that they're all terrible, but I can understand why someone that holds anti-gay views might view them in a positive light.
