So private data gets stolen and published by an unethical, cash-hungry group, and we decide to post it here and laugh about it?

I don't know this guy and I don't know what he is selling, but I definitely don't want to support the idea of outing people and publicly shaming them for acts that are entirely private.

He's a rapist. I'm good with this one.

When someone makes their living (or made, until we found out he repeatedly molested his younger sisters and his parents covered it up) lobbying on behalf of family values, I find it absolutely fine to laugh if he gets his profile from an adultery dating website made public.

I love this. I'm just disappointed he wasn't having affairs with men instead, as that would be the cherry on top, but this is still DELICIOUS.

You'd think he wouldn't need to have an account to email his sisters.

Thread's over. You win everything.

Yes, I recall that thread, and that type of information being made public when the justice system is ineffectual is perfectly acceptable. But in this particular case, he isn't doing anything illegal and its immorality is a matter of perspective, thus the name and shame seems a bit low and not something that (I feel) we should be supporting (regardless of how despicable we may find the subject of our shamming).

That he is selling a certain value system and is in fact a hypocrite also seems beside the point as people buy into ideologies with eyes wide open, or eyes wide shut. The salesman is hardly ever the reason people buy those types of things and the world is full of hypocrites who wield far more power and authority than him.

My issue (and perhaps he is a poor person with which to defend it) is with publicly shaming people for things they do in private, that are not against the law and that we personally take moral issue with, and/or use as justification for our personal contempt towards a person or group.

If this site was hacked and the details and posts of members who post in community threads were made public, would it be ok to post those threads here and shame them? It seems likely that some members of this forum would take moral issue with the actions of other members...

It really is amazing how the glorious technological age is outing religion and conservative values for what it is, fucking horseshit.

Whats is up with 2015? Its like all I need now is for, say a Hayden Panterite sex tape to leak, and I I’ve got a sort-of-celberity-but-not-really-anymore sex scandal Bingo.

I mean, youre not really. Youre okay with personal information being leaked out when you dont like the person. Its like when people say theyre aginst the death penalty, but in this case string him up from a tree. You clearly arent as against it as you want to believe.

The Duggars are shitty people, he deserved to be called out and shamed for his actions against his family, but even with the hypocrisy, I cant support the leaking of personal information.

On one hand, I don't like personal information being leaked. On the other, this is hilarious, given the fact that he's a child molester preaching family values. I don't know where I stand on if I think this is justifiable.

Do not do that thing you just did. Thank you.

This is all so delightful and so, so unsurprising.

I can't feel bad for the wife. She's a professional homophobe who demonizes trans people and has devoted her life to destroying gay people all while running interference for her child molester husband. She's a very sick individual. Also that hair. Unforgivable.

You are confusing them. This is the her son we are talking about, not the woman who had 19 children walk out of her vagina.

His mother went on that anti-trans tirade, not his wife.

This from the leak?

Personally feel it is unethical to post this on GAF and give the hsckers legitimacy.

Its pretty much public knowledge now. A google search showed NYPost, Eonline, Entertainment Tonight and at least a dozen other 'journalists' regurgitating the allegations.

Don't see why the conversation can't be had on GAF.

This guy worked for a non-profit institution that promotes marriage while apparently having an affair. That's pretty fair game.

It would be the same for some environmental leader that poured his car oil down the nearby storm drain, some anti-gay marriage crusader that has a gay relationship, or an animal rights activist that tortures cats. It is useful information for people to know who are thinking about donating.

He's a sex offender, isn't he? I think people should know.
