Yes, I recall that thread, and that type of information being made public when the justice system is ineffectual is perfectly acceptable. But in this particular case, he isn't doing anything illegal and its immorality is a matter of perspective, thus the name and shame seems a bit low and not something that (I feel) we should be supporting (regardless of how despicable we may find the subject of our shamming).
That he is selling a certain value system and is in fact a hypocrite also seems beside the point as people buy into ideologies with eyes wide open, or eyes wide shut. The salesman is hardly ever the reason people buy those types of things and the world is full of hypocrites who wield far more power and authority than him.
My issue (and perhaps he is a poor person with which to defend it) is with publicly shaming people for things they do in private, that are not against the law and that we personally take moral issue with, and/or use as justification for our personal contempt towards a person or group.
If this site was hacked and the details and posts of members who post in community threads were made public, would it be ok to post those threads here and shame them? It seems likely that some members of this forum would take moral issue with the actions of other members...
