Just by looking at the Huckabee family photo, you can tell some unspoken fucked up shit has gone down in the Huckabee household (we already know one son is a sociopath who tortures and kills animals - he has a tendency to hang them, oh and of course boarding planes with concealed loaded guns - mugshot below)...

As a victim of childhood molestation myself, my heart goes out to the girls and whomever else he may have done it too. They have a rough road ahead.
I feel very sorry for the girls. I don't mind their conservative views on kissing, dating and modesty. But this is absolutely unforgivable.

Eh, its a tough situation as a parent. His father at least tried to help, although the kid probably needed serious psychological counseling/medication if he did it multiple times. And hopefully the girls can get help if they need it.

I figure this show is going to be a slow motion trainwreck in the news for a week or two and then be cancelled.
Remember that the Duggars subscribe to a strict form of Christian Patriarchy where the father is responsible for ALL members of the household. It was the father's job to try and "fix" it himself - when that didn't work he went through his church (for better or for worse) and got counselling for Josh and the girls involved. It was molestation (touching) not rape (un-consensual sex). Josh was sent away for a period of time, had to apologize to all girls involved.
The police investigation was started in 2003 - and in 2006 was picked up again. When interviewing the girls molested, they said nothing had happened in the last 3 years. This meant the investigation could go no farther as the statute of limitations was up. I bet money if his sisters still have a beef with him and the families handling of it we will hear about it sooner or later.
Lets remember that the american justice system is incredibly punative and not at all interested in rehabilitation. I don't think jail would have solved the problem and it seems like the family tried to solve the problem themselves (again, for better or worse) without ruining their sons life.
Should they be on TV? Not really. Is this a defense of his behavior? No - I'm just writing up what I've read about it.
I think the Duggar's celebrity has gone to their head and instead of just being a motivational show - they've entered politics and will/are being treated much more harshly.

No it didn't; the father and some of the church elders brought Josh to a family friend who was a State Patrol officer who is now in prison for child pornography.
That was not a Police investigation; it was one cop working for an organization that doesn't handle molestation cases likely giving some sort of "scared straight" speech while agreeing not to actually report it.

As a citizen of Arkansas, I was disgusted with TLC for keeping them on following Fayetteville's "please, won't somebody consider the LGBTQ-phobes?" ballot initiative.
Obviously the resources the Duggars brought to bear in that campaign were name recognition and, potentially, money, both provided to them by TLC.
I pity all of those children, who never had an opportunity to experience anything other than life in a side-show--unwitting performers, mere tick marks, who were taught math, English, and history by a woman who clearly cannot properly operate a curling iron. Obviously, nothing excuses the acts described in the OT, but shame, shame, shame, on the parents for creating actual human lives for the sole sake of notoriety and profit, only to tart it up as an act of faith.
It's hardly a surprise that inhuman things would occur in a home where actual, human beings were reduced to mere commodity as a matter of everyday commerce.
