You know Josh, if you weren't such a fucking tool you could probably enjoy porn with your wife, and nobody would blink an eye.

I dunno... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xDXF0agUeM

I am always suspicious of these super duper family value guys. They always seem to act like its this epic battle to resist being a complete monster...

"Porn is such a dangerous addiction!" eh not really, wife is asleep? look at some porn then take care of it.

You are confusing them. This is the her son we are talking about, not the woman who had 19 children walk out of her vagina.

His mother went on that anti-trans tirade, not his wife.

Oh right, duh, my bad!

Still, the wife was all in on the "religious liberty" bullshit in Indiana et al and is a participant in the Duggar anti-gay machine so I'm happy to see her life fall apart along with her child molester.

I read the headline on Variety and thought "Huh. Maybe he realizes that his entire life is hypocritical and he's going to admit so much of what he's been pushing is hurtful, harmful, damaging garbaggio, and it's time to cut the shit"

...But naaaaaaah.

Blame porn! But I'd rather this come out a different way than through a massive data breach, as amazingly hypocritical as it is.
Well there it is

Its sad that religion forces a lot of people to become this way. Ashamed of themselves. Thats not Jesus's message. Not at all.

He should be able to enjoy his life as an adult.

Legally.

So after molesting his sisters and neighbor and who knows how many others it was dealt with "internally" by the family and church and surprise, surprise, he still has issues. Who would have guessed.

I mean, youre not really. Youre okay with personal information being leaked out when you dont like the person. Its like when people say theyre aginst the death penalty, but in this case string him up from a tree. You clearly arent as against it as you want to believe.

The Duggars are shitty people, he deserved to be called out and shamed for his actions against his family, but even with the hypocrisy, I cant support the leaking of personal information.

On one hand, I don't like personal information being leaked. On the other, this is hilarious, given the fact that he's a child molester preaching family values. I don't know where I stand on if I think this is justifiable.

Do not do that thing you just did. Thank you.
I'm okay with hypocritical activists getting exposed by personal info.

One of the commenters in the USA Today story was on point:

Just another in a VERY long line of examples showing that the most ardent public moralists always have the most crowded closets. As inevitable as death and taxes.

It isn't always true
but it's always true
.

You'd think he wouldn't need to have an account to email his sisters.

This post should be nominated for post of the year 2015, IMO.

The link in their tweet doesn't work

Straight from the source:

Statement from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar:

Please see the statement below from our son Josh regarding recent media stories about him. When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken. As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our entire family.

Statement from Josh Duggar:

I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have been unfaithful to my wife.

I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.

I have brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions.

The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country I was hiding my own personal failures.

As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all the hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example.

I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.

Josh Duggar

Looks like they took out the "viewing pornography" and "secret addiction" part that was originally right before "unfaithful to my wife"...

Well that escalated quickly...all over the news...I feel really bad for his wife and kids.

Quote removed from Duggar website: "I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife," Duggar said in a statement Thursday."

It's always ends up being guys like him who go out of their way to claim that they're for "family values" and traditional marriage, etc. No surprises here.

The child stuff I get that is completely offside but this doesn't seem like its anyone business.

Josh Duggar was a family values advocate. He lobbied against gay marriage because he believed they would ruin marriage and lead to adultery and child molestation, all while being an adulteress child molester. It's just massive irony.

I can't say I approve of info being outed like this even for hypocrites like him but I guess it's all in full view of the public now and over the next few weeks we'll probably learn about a lot more people who had accounts there.

That being said I present to y'all a speech made by josh in '14 about marriage.

Guess I should have read the whole story, didn't realize he was actually a lobbyist, just thought he was on the show.

Yep.

To be fair I still feel a bit uncomfortable when we do this to all the Anti-Gay folks who, like almost inevitably, end up being caught having a gay affair because I sort of feel they're probably victims of homophobia they've internalized...

But in this case, there's no reason to think Duggar was ever being "shamed" into monogamy and this is pretty much him being unfaithful and a hypocrite just because he's probably a nasty person.

Ughh Jesus wasn't some super liberal dude telling people to go fulfill every desire. He was a preacher of the Jewish law who by all modern standards would be considered extremely conservative.

"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell." (Mathew 5:27)

Even Paul, who discarded the Jewish law, still told people to avoid immoral fornication. In fact this whole idea of "everything is lawful for me" is something Paul explicitly condemned in his letter to the Corinthians (Chapter 6).

Totally not religious but how do you tell what Jesus actually said in the Bible? Are those considered a quote?

Leviticus 20:10 - And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

uhh that's the old testament.. god was different then. and god (now as jesus) forgives all so everything you do is ok.

That's from his very famous sermon on the mount. Luke has almost the same thing but it takes place on a plain. If you read any modern translation of the New Testament, Jesus' words are usually highlighted.

From a theological point of view, everything in the Bible is the inerrant word of God. From a historical point of view, it's more complicated. Biblical scholars have developed several criteria to determine how likely each saying of Jesus in the Gospels actually goes back to the historical Jesus.

It's a guy claiming to be a moral authority on marriage who gets outed for being on a cheating website

I think it's 100% ok when he's trying to keep rights away from others while also being a giant hypocrite.

Uh...no. Forgiven? Yes. "Go and sin no more."
Means knock off that stuff you were doing. Of course people fail repeatedly, but it's not like it's all okay to do either.

This is incredibly embarrassing- but as has been stated, the loudest usually have something to hide; I do feel for the kids mostly- especially when they figure this out when they get older. What a mess.

For a man who claims to do everything in the name of God it sounds like he's really given up on the idea......except when it benefits him.

What's the story behind this?

He molested his sisters (and a babysitter) when they were younger and his parents basically covered it up until the statue of limitations ran out.

These people have pissed me off for years with their fake ass bullshit that people gobbled up just because they're Christian.

So it's 100% your fault still, right?

I just can't stop SMH at that sentence. Too many Vietnam flashbacks to high school church youth group.

Kinda depends on your theological point of view. There are Christian sects that don't hold every single passage of the Bible as inerrant.

This isn't directed at you, specifically, but to the poster who boiled down "OT is OUT", I should point out that it isn't really a matter of convenience for Christianity so much as it's the subject of an intense theological debate in the back half of the NT. What Christ meant by "fulfill the Law" and what the subsequent Apostolic interpretations of that meant are likewise a continuous matter of debate and interpretation.

And while I don't presume to speak for Jesus, I also can't out and out say one way or another what His views on modern issues would be. Would the Lord be wildly conservative today? Is the current of social liberalism we see in His actions in the New Testament a mere matter of it being liberal for the time, or was it the times which constrained Him from being more out spoken?

On the one hand, Jesus was very much so against the adultery and lasciviousness of his day. On the other hand, Jesus made a point of spending time with social outcasts like hookers and publicans.

It's just sort of hard to say.

No, silly. God is just testing his faith. Josh will find Jesus in his heart and it will be like none of this ever happened!
