But it's not supposed to look next gen no, it's a cross gen and supposed to look like a very polished cross gen game. Imagine you're playing a more polished version of BF4 and that's what most of us wanted no from a cross gen modern day bf game
The performance is definitely next gen though. I don't expect it to run at more than 1440p at 60fps on consoles unless graphics settings are significantly lowered. So if you want "next gen" you got to go down to 1080p 60fps?

I'll cut them some slack on the graphics(PS5). I think the game looks pretty good overall considering it's 128 players, huge map with all the explosions and stuff that comes along with it. I especially like the look when the storm rolls in. Things like vegetation are definitely an upgrade over at least battlefield 4. And i love the way the ground(tanks) vehicles explode, that little shock wave coming from them. Got that extra boom to them.

I did not want a slightly better looking BF4 I wanted real technological progress,...this looks at best on par with BF5 and the destructability is still not even on the level of the age old Bad Company 2......
I was probably asking too much from a cross gen title in the first place.

Eh didn’t really enjoy what I played on XSX just now. Map was huge. Didn’t see a single enemy. Got bored. Helicopter controls poorly. Looks ok I guess nothing next gen. I do like that there’s no loading times. Hard pass for me.

Still can't get into the pc version, constantly spamming "retry", but the PS5 versions works great.

Cod mw 2019 gunplay was the best , the guns and kills had weight , the gunplay In this feels so dated , there is no recoil , there is no weight to the guns , everything just feels like from 10 15 years ago

There's than infamous Crowbcat video about Gears losing weight, but I think this applies to many today's games, including BF, where it used to be this kind of "heavy" shooter, but then EA/DICE started to chase CoD numbers and the series started to lose their charm with each new installment, to a point where even CoD feels "heavier" now. That's sadly the reality of today's market, everyone wants their game to be easy to pick up by the masses.

This feels like it needs much longer, the bugs I'm seeing are insane. When is the build from.

But it is a good game underneath it

Yep. There used to be the thrill of mastering a gun in Battlefield because of it. It feels completely gone now.

played for 20 mins and immediately went back to CSGO. Completely different games and BETA aside, CS still the daddy of comp shooters imho.

I like apple. I tried orange, but don't taste like apple. So I got back to apple.

I thought the exaxt opposite on Series X... it was impressive as hell imo

  • no loading
  • super smooth framerate (granted I have VRR)
  • damn impressive scale
  • great phyisics
  • weather going from sunny to total storm is mindblowing

this was not even on my radar - will now buy it for sure
Well I got in on ps5
Doesn’t look next gen at all
Laggy as fuck
The attachments don’t seem to be working
Ttk you might as well boil a kettle while u fire

Xbox version won’t even connect….:)
-What the actual fuck are them helicopter controls?
-Graphic glitches like screen turning white and flickering fast
-Attachments are borked and always reseting.
-Wierd glitch in tanks turning the barrel in FP mode.
-AI are lol
-I'm either super dense or there's no way to change zoning on snipers
-Feels like Warzone, not Battlefield.

Looks pretty enough though.

So, who dafuk is lying here?

Played Series X version about 30 mins ago.

- Game looked far better than I thought it would.
- No VRR here but no noticeable drops in frame rates.
- No issues with attachments as someone else previously noted.
- Had a random bug where my parachute was stuck on, causing a constant, annoying shadow. Eventually disappeared.
- Where do I find the jets? I want to fly and blow shit up!
- Flickering shadows in random spots.

Gonna compare it to the PS5 version once that beta opens up.

I loved what I played so far on PS5. I've yet to play a proper 64-64 match though. Even with crossplay I can't get past 40-40.

Played on PS5 for like an hour and loved it.
My ambitions to be good at "hardcore" competitive shooters are fortunately long gone, so this will be amazing to play with mates to chill out.
Release 1 day after my birthday - could not be any better :)

Its pretty dope so far, loving it on PC. I think what'll make or break this will be the post launch stuff just like Battlefield 3...that came's post launch stuff filled it out really good in my opinion, and made it one of the best MP Shooters out there. I hope they have the same dedication here

Keep getting disconnected but I believe this to be my router having issues. Got a new one coming in today. Horrible bug in the grenade seat with the tank where the camera shakes back and forth.

What I got to play was good. Visually the game looks good.

Heavy is not the right word , it's hard to explain it but if u have played gunfight in cod mw , when u kill someone , the impact of bullet , the deathsound it actually feels like there is some weight to it , where as this just feels like how battlefield 3 was
It's sad that cod evolved overtime in this department and bf didn't , I know it's beta and have very few guns but there is literally 0 recoil in all of the guns

Yeah, didn't notice any sunshine. It was raining the whole time.

Frame rate was spotty too.

I know what you're saying, same applies to upcoming Halo, for whatever the reason getting a single kill is so damn satisfying, but in BF people just fell on the ground, like pfff, no biggie. Same applies to you unfortunately, there's no damage indicator on the screen, so it makes you feel you went from 100% to 0 in no time and also just fell on the ground. Long story short, the fun factor in BF is all time low, if there is any to begin with (like yeah you can mess around with the vehicles and explosives, but that's not that an FPS is about).

Ok so I know that Crossplay parties have been turned off for this Beta but is there an easy way to play with my Xbox buddies despite that? Is there a server browser on console so we can atleast select the same server? Also, if that works, can we assign ourselves to the same squad?

So, I just played and won my first game, and I think I really, really, really enjoyed it. Especially more than anything I felt in BFV, so that's great, lmao. Definitely has a BF4/3 plus vibe, and I think that's what the majority wanted.

First of all, I have an i7-7700K and a 2080, not the NEWEST system, but she still does fine. I set everything to Ultra and turned off motion blur and it was smooth as silk for me in 2K.

The shooting felt good, felt like everything was connecting when it should. There were even moments where nades and launcher hits felt completely accurate, so it was really nice.

The ONLY negatives I saw were a number of strange bugs that involved people basically rubber banding through environments, or moments where it felt like I randomly rubber banded. It didn't happen super frequently and it was very brief, so there's that. Could be backend issues, load, etc. Guess we'll see soon enough.

There is also this static-y sound that sounds like their default UI selection sound? At first it was hard to tell if that sound was intended or my audio was fucked, lmao.

I look forward to playing more, really. That was the most BF-feeling experience I've had in several years, and that's enough for me to be happy with my purchase, excited about playing more, and looking forward to launch.

I really don't understand game development. Let's take this practical, immersive, 1st person take down animation and let's replace it with a janky, busted, slow and impractical 3rd person animation.

They're probably gonna sell them eventually.

I guess it all comes back to the same thing. Money.

Crossplay only between Xbox and PS in this beta unfortunately.

Played a few matches on XSX, loving it. But is anyone else having graphics glitches? Like flickering shadows and tree leaves?

Yes had just a few second like that at the beginning then it was OK (only played 1 match). i only had one very annoying bug : camera shaking like hell while being tank gunner. Almost impossible to aim.

Outside of that, the awful UI, unintuitive menus and very basic audio (far from what Dice is used to), I loved it as well. Made me feel the same than the BF3/4 betas : very rough but made me want to play more. I just hope that this won't be the same nightmare than BF4 at launch...

Tried the PS4 version, had that feeling and yep smaller makes for more action. My squad has greater impact on whether we lose or not feeling less random. I'm going to have to keep the PS4 version in rotation as well. Not going to outright say I think it's a better experience but i'm more happier playing the game on this particular map with 64 players.

Considering that this is a 2 month old build im not complaining. Yes the game is bugged right now, yes the sounds may sound a little muffled at some times and yes the performance/lag situation isn't good right now but thats all things that may change till launch.

Other than that this game feels like a spiritual successor to BF3. The gunplay feels like BF3, the vehicles....

good game

The AI is HORRIBLE. I hope that they'll either improve it or the community cries so loud that they'll change/remove it. So unnessecary.

Just played one match.
There's lots of settings that are broken or don't work, there's graphical bugs, some typical beta bugs, etc.

But damn did I have fun! First minute in the match and I hopped in some randoms pickup truck as he drove me around blasting the music and gunning people down. Good shit.

The Plus system is awesome, the character movement feels like a blend of BFV and BF3/4 and the gunplay feels great like it did in BFV. I agree some weapons need more recoil, but with optics you could really feel it.

Only drove one vehicle for about 5 seconds before getting blown to hell by a helicopter. Saw a few robo dogs running about, some turrets put to use.

Haven't tried out all of specialist yet, but I love the customization options for loadouts. We'll see how it plays out over time though when it comes to balancing and new specialists. Also I didn't have much issue with the scale and being in fights frequently enough. If I chose good spawns, payed attention to zones under attack, and used vehicles, it wasn't an issue.

It feels like an evolution to BF4 and so far it's great.

AK12 in the BF beta is hilarious. Your character when not aiming down irons is doing thumb over bore (which you cannot do with AK irons, because your thumb blocks your sight picture) but the second he looks down the sights magically the thumb disappears/shifts away.

This feels like old school Battlefield, even when you're dying you can have some fun.

There are issues in this beta, I've had odd lag spikes that send me back into a parachute and such, still graphical glitches from the Test Build, but nothing too crazy, nothing to scream from the rooftops about.

This game captures the pure insanity of many players doing random shit and creating pure fun chaos with multiple vehicles and on foot troop combat. It's dumb and it's fun.

BF is back, warts and all this one is one of the most fun FPS Multiplayer games in at least 5 years.
