Best and worst Joker designs

I've never seen Suicide squad (I probably never will) but aesthetically, Leto's Joker is a travesty. It looks like a 13 year old came up with it, and based on what I hear, has the personality to match. My favorite is very likely the version from TAS and some of the animated stuff. John DiMaggio's Joker was surprisingly good.

Best is the dark knight;

Worst for me in Joker from the 'The Batman' animated series.

I mean what the fuck

Best: Ledger, or TAS

Worst: Suicide Squad. And it wasn't Ledo that did it. His laugh was magnificent, and he's demonstrated before that he can play a damn good part. Just like Lex Luthor, even though that sucked all around.

This is easily my favorite comics one. I'm willing to forgive the awful 3EDGY Death of the Family design because it led to this.

Ehh I don't get the hate of death in the family Joker. While edgy, it fit into the much darker run's style which is out to make him as sister and horrible of a person as possible. But yeah endgame joker is top tier.

I agree the arkham games joker design was pretty good. Unfortunately it reminded me of one of the worst versions too:

Oh man I had blocked that out of my memory. I'm actually not a huge fan of the Asylum/City/Knight design although its considered blasphemy since it's Hamill, but I absolutely love Origin's design. Design work in that entry was amazing all around IMO.

I think this

looks much better than this

Not a bad design though

Yup.
The BTAS design gets bonus points for the voice acting.
The worst is absolutely the worst. The Ledger design raised a few eyebrows at first but it ended up being a knockout performance. The Leto design was pretty much hated from start to finish.
I wonder what Zack Snyder would've designed Leto Joker like. Just seems fucking weird they let Ayer go wild on iconic characters like this.
This is it right here. This abomination lol

i highly highly doubt Ayer designed the Joker. There would have been a costume committee with most high ups on the Universe project looking over the designs.

Pretty sure Jared said in interviews it came from Ayers imagination when he was asked about the tats Ill try to source it.

edit. here's one: http://ew.com/article/2016/04/15/jared-leto-joker-suicide-squad-2/

What specific things did you bring to it?
I think the most important thing I brought was probably not to do with the outside but with the internal. But you know David was specific with tattoos. They were his idea but there was a lot to play with. Who knows what will end up in the final film?

Leto Joker is a mixed design. I like some parts, hate others, but I don't mind the attempt - Suicide Squad has this weird "faux-gangsta" feel to its characters and he fits that world.

Absolutely awful performance though. Just bafflingly bad. Between that and Lex Luthor is was a rough year. But on sheer design merits? I can live with it.

The best, though? Shout-out to Gotham Central. There's something super unsettling about a pudgy, middle-aged man in clown makeup. If you go too far, he's just "scary" and you lose the uncanniness. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing to the Nth degree.

Leto Joker is the absolute worst. He looks like a middle aged Marilyn Manson, which is a sad sight to behold.

My favorite is definitely from the animated series, though I'm not sure which one.

Snyder doesn't design the costumes, the studio along with hired artists, costume designers, producers, etc all work on these things. It's like people who say Michael Bay designed the Transfomers designes we see in the movies, no he doesn't. They might have design input but it's not all one person's work.

You'll see next time. Either Snyder or Reeves will use the Joker in the future and you can take to the bank that it's not going to look "damaged" anymore.

I did like Joker's casino scene, and he looked ok.

I think it looked more ridiculous than scary most of the time, and even when it was actually drawn well it was so absurd and over-the-top that I couldn't take it seriously.

Ayer was sketching stuff that eneded up in the film,, such as the zombie-things. Of course it isn't one person but generally it's filtered through the director's vision. Snyder is a fan of The Dark Knight Returns, so the DCEU's Batman has a suit that looks pulled from the comic. The directors seem to have a ton of influence, and it seems likely that a Snyder designed Joker would have been more faithful to his comic appearances (even characters like Lex Luthor are faithful to some rendition of the character).

Heels wearing joker was pretty great. I liked how the comic didn't directly call to attention that joker is wearing heels but you can notice in some of the panels. It's a subtle feature that adds to the overall creepiness of his character in the story and it fits with the heavy use of imagery in the graphic novel overall.

Ill take Leto's Joker over this one. Just the worst Joker design.

The Batman's Joker design is more beautiful in motion. It's probably the most underrated Joker design out there. It tried to do something different like the DCEU but the theme of insane jester actually fits way better than Leto's flamboyant gangsta.

Fight me. The Batman's is one of my favorites.
*High five*

This is the reason that show flopped.
The Batman ran for 5 seasons. I hardly call that a flop.

Best is TAS and worst is The Batman. Let is bad but to those dreads and straight jacket are just... No. Not to mention I'm pretty sure his voice was terrible in that show as well.

I just realized that Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman's archenemies all heavily use green and purple. When was this decided as the go-to villainy color?

The Batman Joker isn't that bad

Brave and the Bold had a worse Joker than The Batman, which is weird since B&B's Red Hood was amazing and I wish they had explored that character more in a comic or something.

They are secondary colors, along with orange. While the primary colors are often associated with heroes, Spider-Man, Captain America, Superman, et al.

you vs the guy she tells you not worry about

I'll be honest: Ledger's joker is still a terrible design. There's a reason people balked at it when they first saw it; he sold it 100% on the strength of his performance, while the aesthetic design remained completely terrible through and through.

Not, like, Jared Leto wangsta Joker terrible, mind, but it's still low-tier design work.
