This is a nonsensical relic from the Cold War Era. Aside from climate change, humanity is doing fine overall. There's a couple of kerfuffles in Eurasia, as well as Boko Haram in Nigeria, but if that's bad enough to warrant 11:57 then we went way past midnight over 30 years ago.
