I was hoping for a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI WRC, but I guess the Subaru is a fine substitute.

Yeah, I really want a Mitsubishi in this game, even the sub-par Lancer WRC05.

Edit: I'm trying a short stage and... holy balls, top speed all the time, blind corners, crests, crests and more crests... this is craziness. And the sound on that Impreza... simply incredible.

I presume this is the '2.0' car engine they talked about in one of the Dirt shows. Anyone noticing significant differences in any of those cars?
Yes. The cars generate significantly less grip (most notably on the tarmac stages), making the cars much more lively. They also seem to react to weight transfer, particularly lateral, more convincingly. I have only tried the M3, Escort and Stratos so far and they are all a big improvement. Before the update, it was necessary to adjust the setup to force more oversteer (particularly if you're using realistic steering rotation values). Now, the cars rotate happily on the defaults.

Finnish stages are crazy fast. I think these are ones where I'll actually have to modify the gear ratios on some cars due to the speeds I'm getting up to.

I also don't know if it's something they actually changed or if it's always been this way, but the Finnish stages in wet conditions feel significantly sloppier in the 01 Impreza than they do in the dry. I know the wet stages have always had less grip and it makes sense, but it definitely feels like it makes a difference more now.

These 3 over crest turns are killing me, I try my best but I keep flying off the track or rolling into a tree. What a great feeling when you get a good flow, though.

Finland, god damn, son.

All I can say is on one of the stages there's a fast downhill section with a huge jump in the middle, and a clearly a three-like turn at the bottom. I don't know what type of corner it was because my hearing completely shut off, and my right foot planted itself. I swear I was looking down on the trees... before I joined them.

Incredible fun.

It's disappointing to see they still haven't fixed the SLI flickering rain/snow bug, but I'm enjoying the new Finland stages.

We're trying our best to balance adding new stuff with fixes in every update, (we only have around 20 working days between updates). As long as there's a post on the Steam tech forum it will be looked at.

Happy that people are enjoying Finland and the new handling! I'd suggest you all go back and try the 60s, 70s and 80s cars, they all have the v2 handling too.

Sorry, perhaps my post came across sounding more negative than intended. It's just a small niggle but it's good to hear it will be fixed at some point. The initial release of the game back in May and the progress you've made with it since then is commendable.

Does it run too badly on your rig? Maybe we can help you.
It doesn't run THAT badly and it is playable, but I have to knock it down to 720P to get decent framerates out of it. And it still stutters a little because crossfire. It's an ancient setup (5850 and 5970 in tri-fire) and I think the 1GB total VRAM isn't helping!

Got this last night and love it!!

Are they aware of the frame pacing issue? It's running at a locked 60 fps but hitches every 5 seconds or so which would seem to indicate a frame pacing issue. Kinda distracts a bit, but isn't too noticeable in certain camera views.

The difficulty on this game is still nuts.

Thinking yeop, nice clean run, havent left the track, flowing from corner to corner just keeping it tidy......30sec down per run. I'm using a 360 pad but I cant imagine theres an extra 30+ seconds to be found using a wheel. How the fuck you can get first in this game is beyond me.

I haven't noticed it, I play solely in bonnet/hood cam, is there an easy way to test it?

Could it be a driver/crossfire issue? have you tried it with just one card? My cousin runs this game on medium on an athlon x3 / hd7750 @1080p

I can't believe how much stuff they add to this game.
I haven't played this since the first month it was available. I stopped before any additions were brought on and haven't checked in on what's new since then. I'll just see new updates every once in a while. Wonder what I'm in for...

Put the camera behind the vehicle, and get onto a straight-ish section and just watch as the trees and such go by. Should be able to see the stutter that way.

I'll check it out when I get home; I had an issue in Germany, whenever I reached any hairpin the framerate tanked into the low 20's. Google provided the solution, it was the ground cover option, had to leave it off for those stages.

I haven't touched this game since July and oh my god. It's so good. The force feedback (the game uses the ABS motor on my CSP V2's, holy shit) is leagues better than what it was before and the general feel of the game is fantastic.

The Germany stages are still my favourite I think, Pikes Peak is incredible, and Finland is good fun when I can keep it out of the trenches either side of the road :)

This game is making me want a G27, don't suppose anyone knows where i could get it relatively cheap in the UK?
Second-hand market is probably the best. With the G29 being out for a little while, some folks should be looking to "upgrade" for a wheel to use on their PS4.

Game is just really something. GOTY contender easily.

Yep. It's between DiRT Rally and Cities Skylines for my GOTY, and it would be very tough to pick one over the other. I've bought a lot less games this year because of these two, lol.

I'm having so much fun with this game now. Didn't bother with it for the longest time, but now with the new handling and FFB, plus a handy FOV tweaking guide, it finally clicked with me.

Those Finnish stages... wow. So many jumps! This is the rally game I've been wanting all this time.

Im not sure if its because i can not play too often, but it seems the car handling changed a LOT in the last update. I've been putting many hours in the Audi Quattro in group B and now it seems to be a totally different beast. The physics seem to have changed the car weight and grip, but for the better. (Sorry if this is common info, i did not read patch notes)

why is this game not available for consoles???
Because it is an Early Access game on PC and we PC gamers are partly helping to fund Dirt Rally's development. We also act as beta testers and a focus group.

When Dirt Rally is completed, it'll be released on consoles.

The more I dig deep the more I realize how amazing this would be with a proper wheel. I'm already using an Oculus and have an amazing experience but I cannot fathom how tricked my brain will be when my hands are mapping to what I'm seeing.

That depends on which website or forum you visit ;) There are plenty of simcade racers but nothing close to being as well done as DriveClub or Project Gotham Racing.
Which ones are there? I mean, I know there's the NFS games (which have just enough bullshit in them to be irritating) but I'm pretty sure there aren't any others. I'd even settle for a "last" gen (or even last-last) if I can just crank the details in it and have a solid time. And no open-world, either. Over that shit.

At first I was being sarcastic as the only sim I'm yet to read is simcade is iRacing (instead half the people refer to it as Ice Racing).

As for simcade goes, Sgea All-Stars, Split/Second, Driver: SF, Ridge Racer Unbounded, Next Car Game, NFS: Shift, NFS: Unleashed, Trackmania, The Crew & Burnout Paradise off the top of my head. Search steam for arcade and racing ;)
