Going to need a source on that spoiler.

All I said is I don't like Ellie. I didn't like her in the first game, and I'll probably like her even less in the sequel. She just doesn't appeal to me.
It's not that she's a female because I don't mind a female protagonist, I just don't like her attitude, I don't like her character design and I don't like her sullen, angsty-teen demeanor.

Unfortunately, poor writing and/or direction often links closely with forgettability.
To be VERY clear that is not what you said:
Not Ellie the character, but any teenage girl. And you made sure to specify your age and sex.

It's not that she's a female because I don't mind a female protagonist, I just don't like her attitude, I don't like her character design and I don't like her sullen, angsty-teen demeanor. I also don't like her character aesthetically - it's just a personal preference. I don't like Cait Sith in Final Fantasy VII because he's just too saccharine-sweet, goofy and poorly designed for my taste. Everyone has taste and opinions, the fact that people are jumping down my throat because of mine is ridiculous. I'm not attacking anyone, all I said was that I was disappointed that we play as Ellie and not Joel.
Is that the first LGBT lead in a video game?

Not in a video game ever, but apart from Jacob Frye I think she is the first in a AAA game.Is that the first LGBT lead in a video game?
Going to need a source on that spoiler.
...and I also said that I enjoy the Tomb Raider games which are famous for it's female protagonist. What are you trying to insinuate?

why can't we have a choice playing as a male or a female? You want to have an empowering female lead you can play Tomb raider. Half the reason people loved The last of us is because of the visceral combat of playing as joel. Which btw was the main character.
Killing the surgeons/doctors at the end is optional, right?
If you killed them, you're the monster, not Joel
I killed them too, blew their heads off without thinking twice about it.
Jacob Frye from AC:Syndicate, Max from Life is Strange are two very recent examples. Is that the first LGBT lead in a video game?

Is this the shortest amount of time from announcement to outrage?
Hopefully Ellie realizes Joel's true nature and kills him.
And you cited Noctis of all people as a character you do like?
I'm not understanding what you're gonna get out of convincing other people why YOU don't wanna play the game. It's been going on for pages and nothing is being accomplished.
Be cool with your choice and be cool that other people don't agree.
Ellie wants revenge. Joel is a ghost?

I can't wait to find out what broke her.
I'll also miss playing as Joel but remember, Ellie was only 14 in the first game and was pretty inexperienced, all things considered, when it came to fighting. This is 5 years later, so not only has she grown physically but I imagine she is a far more capable fighter now. I don't reckon she'll be able to match the pure strength and brutality of Joel when it comes to close quarter battles, but she will definitely be more of a presence than in the first game, where her melee hits did not interrupt enemy animations and she was limited to the knife. She'll likely be able to pick up and use melee weapons and choke out enemies now as well.

Again, opinions.
*Sigh*
All I'm saying is that I am disappointed that we don't play as Joel [as the main character]. Maybe Naughty Dog should have Noctis as a DLC character - then everyone will be happy
Sequence 8 is a near constant metaphor for Jacob Frye and Roger Roth having a romantic relationship that falls through, it's why Jacob acts so much different around him compared to the other targets. This is the only time we see Jacob being bashful and a little submissive is when he reacts to the things Roth says:Wait really? Did they touch on that towards the end of the game or something, I didn't finish the game, but played most of it
The player has no choice but to complete sequence 8 with Jacob. Evie is not involved in that sequence whatsoever.By player choice. You could count player-made RPG characters from Bioware games by that standard.
Yes it must suck to have a father figure who saved your life countless times.
Ellie wants revenge. Joel is a ghost?
Joel is her standDont think so, grass is moving when he comes in...
You people.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNuLhznkEAg

Don't forgetYou people.
When it's a woman player character you want character selection but if it's a male player character it's against the "artistic integrity" to have character selection.
They say, verbatim, ". Then in the near final scene, even ifonly surgeon left on earth who can do this"It doesn't matter if the surgeon attacks first. Joel hasthe player does not attack the surgeon, and just walks towards him, Joel slashes the guy 's throat.. People were livid about this.already attacked first during the whole stage
There's no question here. It's what the character was written to do. It's what he does, no ambiguity.
There's a scene in the game where a bad guy referes to Joel as a psychopath since he killed us while gang.
If this doesn't make you reflect on the amount of people Joel killed, with ease then nothing will.
Forget the last scene. That moment right there is the first time you are supposed to question his actions.
And yeah, he was a cannibal but the tone of that scene is really "do you realize how your actions look from the other side?)". And they aren't good. I think that scene is the pivotal moment where the game makes you look at Joel in a different light.
Then in the end you kill a bunch more people for selfish reasons and that seals it. The final scene also drives the whole "Joel is an old lonely man who is trying to replace his daughter" point home.
Man is this game good.
Is this the shortest amount of time from announcement to outrage?
Would have much rather played as Joel since I'm not as big a fan of hers as everyone else seems to be.
I'm not sure what this blubbering on about metal is supposed to mean.
She's not metal. She's mentally deranged. There's a difference.
My point is that you are bringing up reason why you do not like Elli as a character when you very clearly stated your opinion that you also do not want to play any character that is a young woman.
And you question why people laughed at your opinion pages back.
No one is arguing if Ellie is a good character. The notion that a young female character is less relatable and thus unenjoyable is laughable because of how accurate it reflects past AAA trends.
A main female lead on a AAA game. Oh the comments will be delicious.
EDIT: People seem to be misinterpreting my post.
There will be lots of crying about the fact that its a female lead, is what I meant. I don't get it either, but there will.
Finally someone with the same opinion!
"What do I have in common with a teenage, angst-ridden girl? How can I relate to her struggles and view of the world?"
That's the only thing I would think picking up the controller to play this game. I would also think that I'm playing as a character I didn't like originally and now I'm playing as her for the entire game this time. It's just not something that sounds like fun to me. I don't like her demeanor or her character design, so I'm just going to have to pass on this one.
The main argument here for females as the leading role in violent games is women should be allowed to murder too. If men kill all the time, women should equally murder too.
