Areajugones - 9/10 (Spanish)
The most arcade and funny golf game is back with a new videogame that is reminiscent of the best games of the saga. What's more, it features many improvements and great online modes.

MWEB Gamezone - 8.8/10
Everybody's Golf has reworked its formula and it has paid off in every way. While it moves in a new online and social direction, the game's core mechanics are better than ever by staying true to what makes the series so great - being an awesome golf game.

PlayStation Universe - 8.5/10
This is very much more Everybody's Golf with a few extra brush strokes and a overtly pleasant online portion to round it out. The result of that is easily the best version of the game to date, and with a good price point and welcoming structure, it's a fine place to visit for a few holes.

SA Gamer - 8.5/10
Everybody's Golf is a surprisingly deep and fulfilling game. It offers a decent amount of content, and while it might look quirky and cartoonish, it offers a solid digital golfing experience.

The Nexus - 8.5/10
Everybody's Golf is a worthy addition to the series and a welcome addition to the PS4 library. If you want a game for when you have ten minutes to spare, or one in which you can challenge yourself as you seek to set better scores on the leaderboards, look no further. Despite the game losing some of what made it fun and unique, it is still an Everybody's Golf game, easy to play but difficult to master.

Sports Gamers Online - 8.3/10
Catering to both the casual and simulation golfer, Everybody's Golf strikes a nice balance of fun and challenge. There are plenty of things to keep you busy and the game is especially fun in couch co-op with friends. If you don't mind the arcade graphics and presentation, Everybody's Golf is sure to bring hours of fun and is a worthy successor to Hot Shots in every way.

Press Start Australia - 8/10
After a lengthy wait, we finally have the long running Everybody's Golf series on Playstation 4. The new elements aren't quite as expansive as hoped, but the core game is still incredibly delightful.

Attack of the Fanboy - 8/10
With abundant customisation, and a foundation that allows infinite hours to be sunk into online play, Everybody's Golf is a solid series entry despite minor niggles in the graphics and online server departments. It's also very welcoming to newcomers whilst providing a serious challenge to veterans, all wrapped up in a huge online and offline package.

IGN Italia - 8/10 (Italian)
A good golf game that takes its attitude to the aesthetics and functional customization as its mantra.

Everyeye.it - 8/10 (Italian)
Invades our lounges with the usual amount of humor, depth and fun that the series has always been known for.

VGN - 8/10 (Italian)
Clap Hanz's reboot for one of the most popular brands in the PlayStation history has managed to achieve a great balance between fun and new mechanics, such as the MMO-esque hub that allows you to interact with other players in such different ways. A great return for the beloved golf franchise.

Eurogamer - Recommended
This is video game golf at its most exuberant, joyous, fast-paced and welcoming. No wonder the series has endured on PlayStation for longer than any other than Gran Turismo. But while Polyphony Digital's take on motorsport is that of the clinician-pornographer, wanting to represent the real sport in exquisite, unadorned detail, Clap Hanz's take on golf is that of the chortling-impressionist, a wild exaggeration of the sport. This is golf, but through a glass brightly. Yet through embellishment, the developer touches something of golf's true, universal appeal in a way that none of its austere, reverent competitors has managed.

Gamereactor DK - 8/10 (Danish)

IGN España - 8/10 (Spanish)

Vandal - 8/10 (Spanish)

Gamezgeneration - 8/10 (German)

(Greg Miller: "Everybody's Golf is the best Hot Shots Golf ever.")

PS4 Pro owners will appreciate the baked-in settings options which allow you to switch between 4K resolution or a 60fps refresh rate, as well as toggling whether to use HDR or not. Alternatively you can also just play it in its standard form, if for some unknown reason you don’t fancy either of those upgrades. There’s a clear jump in visual fidelity in 4K, while the 60fps mode feels lovely, and in a game which relies on timing I’d expect this to be a favourite amongst dedicated players. What’s gratifying is that performance-wise, on any setting, this is the most consistent PS4 golf game of the generation.

At this point perhaps the only real negative is that, at its core, this is the same light and welcoming strain of golf we’ve seen from the series before, albeit in an updated and expanded package that befits the move to this generation of consoles. Still, there’s a reason that Everybody’s Golf has remained one of Sony’s stalwart franchises over the years, and on early impressions alone there’s more here to enjoy than ever before.

I thought all versions had a 60fps power bar? (although I don't really understand how you'd do that if you're running at 30fps.. Are you updating the screen at 60fps but only the 'world' is refreshing half as often?)

It's a common approach to render the UI elements separately from the game graphics, so that also makes it possible to render them in a different rate than the graphics.

I literally own every claphanz golf game since ps1. Last night I bough this on a whim.
Can't wait to get off work today to dig in, carry me to D2.

My coworker is going to buy a PS4 because of this game... I didn't know it had so much pull.

It's always had undeniably spectacular gameplay and ball physics

EA's PGA tour games and The Golf Club series just don't come close to EG's gameplay imo. It's pure arcade fun

1800p native, I believe.

I really need to read some impressions about the single player campaign since I don't have PS+.

I imagine it is the same way that some animations run at lower framerates or how Forza runs at 60 fps but the rear view mirror runs at 30.

I don't remember Hotshots golf at all, even though I played them as a kid on PS1.

Worth getting this as someone who only really ever loved Neo Turf masters as a golf game?

Well why would they? TGC games are meant to be pure sim. Meanwhile Rory is more or less simcade taking into account all the settings you have.

This really is the first pure arcade golf game on the PS4.

yes. Its basically that kind of arcade golf game only in 3D and a ton more gameplay options (and you don't run out of credits just because you got a bogey)

I love the Hot Shots series but I wasn't sure what to make of this game, glad to hear that the online portion was implemented so well.

What I meant to suggest is that EG ends up being the better golf game based purely on its gameplay and whimsical charm

TGC plays a good game of accurate golf but its performance really mars it

Skipped Rory but the mid-noughties Tiger games are the closest that series ever came to topping EG

Maybe I'm just ignorant when it comes to the franchise, but I did not expect such a positive response. Feels like the game has been out ushered out with as little fanfare as possible.

Cool. Noticed that redbox carries this so I'll try that when I get a chance. Buying two other games today so I'll hold off the full price purchase.

Preordered will be my first game in the series!

Its good to see Sony continuing to release highly rated exclusives, they have been on fire this year! Hopefully Knack2 scores okay!!

In case of this game, the world is "frozen" when the bar runs (it has been this way for as long as I remember playing the series), so it could be as 'simple' as: UI updates at 60fps, everything else doesn't update at all (which has the added convenience that you can do near-0 input latency on top of 60fps refresh).

But to be clear - yes, you could render the world out at 30hz, and UI by itself at 60.

Kinda disappointed that they didn't add tennis in there when they can put Fishing and Golf Cart Racing(?). Maybe it was too much to ask.

Tennis should be it's own game or at least expansion. I'd pay another $40 if it had a story mode like the psp one.

Still on the PSN store - I bought it last week and it’s current downloaded waiting to unlock

PSN store is shit and pushes big titles over this. You should be able to search for it though

Yeah, it's in "coming soon", but not on the store proper (if that makes any sense)

I think I'm gonna give it a go as well. I've wanting to play a fun arcadey golf game for a while, but the Mario Golf games never really did it for me. Maybe this'll be more in line of what I want.

My coworker is going to buy a PS4 because of this game... I didn't know it had so much pull.

I'm seriously considering re-buying a PS4 for this. Hot Shots Golf OOB was my most played PS3 game easily, only surpassed in total playtime by Gran Turismo 3 for PS2.

Oh man. Do I want to wait until possible Black Friday deals?

The Push Square review questions the game's balance:

But unfortunately, this mode accentuates the title’s head-scratching balancing issues. Simply playing the game increases your efficiency with each club, enhancing your shot distance and control. This means that anyone who’s played the title longer than you have is given an instant advantage, and while it won’t make up for sloppy play, it’s a bit strange that the playing field isn’t even.

More bizarrely, there are many smartphone-esque currencies that litter the entire game. In the Turf War mode, for example, there are warp points which instantly transport you to a hole of your choice. You can teleport three times by default, which in isolation would add an extra dimension, but those willing to spend tokens can warp indefinitely – almost breaking an otherwise ace mode.

it also mentions that some of the daily challenges are on courses you may not have unlocked yet. Hmm. So how will paid DLC work - presumably if you buy a course you don't need to unlock it. Will there be daily challenges or other 'campaign' content that requires paid DLC courses to access?

And that warp point thing in turf war doesn't sound good at all. Although if you have more people in your team you're already at an advantage, it sounds like if you're willing to spend gems on extra warps that would be a big advantage to get around the course faster

Incredibly Naive
YES! I'm not gonna lie, I was very worried about this after the reveal trailer and some of the mixed responses to the beta. The character creator and the online centric stuff made me skeptical, but it seems the core game is still as fun as ever. Can't wait for my copy to come in!
