Final Fantasy XV |OT2| For Jared!

So I just found out that the side quest in Altissia where you have to fight the lady in the painting is not in the game... that was the side quest I was looking to :(
It is. It's the last quest from the reporter in Lestallum and then you have to take on the hunt for it in Altissia at Weskham's bar.

Koozek is alive!

PS2: Please dont lecture me about putting the camera to the "far" option. Nothing helps... the camera and targeting are a joke.
I actually prefer playing with the close camera.

Getting hit can be inevitable, but with Blink and Impervious, you can dodge pretty much at any time, even after you get hit. And with the close camera it's much easier to pick up on attack patterns and avoid damage.

From what I've seen of some of the bomb encounters, though, I don't think there's anything that can be done there, so it's not even a tip for you to deal with that in particular, just talking about the camera in general.

What is this Blink thing? I though it was when you block right before an enemy attack connects?
That's the one. Blink has its own animation and specifics. And it has priority over anything else. So you can even cancel a Greatsword swing with a dodge, if you have Blink and time it right. It's not just to save MP.

The reason I bought this game was for the fun aerial combat, and that's exactly what I'm enjoying right now.
Oh and Knightsguard still rocks!

Airdancing around the Bandersnatch:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwqEyRhyO1M
I still don't have Airdance, went for Impervious first, but in a way it's even more fun to only have two airsteps, because using a regular warp will reset your attacks, kinda like Enemy Step in DMC. So if you're fighting a tall enemy, you can do your air attacks with two airsteps, then release lock-on, warp through the enemy, lock-on again and hold attack and you're back to air combat with two more airsteps available.

EDIT: Wait, that's your channel? So I've been following you both on youtube and GAF without having any idea it was the same person, even though I did notice the similar tastes. :D

I'm dumb as fuck and never unlocked the skill that gives you 3 AP each time you camp (only had 1 AP per camp). I feel like I'm severely below the amount of skills I should have unlocked :/

Haha, nice. I didn't see the video then but realised it after watching it. Impervious looks like a life saver there. Gotta get it now.
It's really good, and a lot of fun, too! Even if it didn't recover your health, just not having to deal with the knockdown makes it worth it.

Yeah, I got Impervious first as well, and Airdance was the second 333 move.
If the lock-on was better, it would be even more fun.
Yeah, I get why they went for the multiple targets with many enemies, but they could've made locking on better.

Maybe instead of just choosing whatever target you're closest to, make the lock-on always go for the middle one, and you can manually target different parts if you so desire, and only the soft lock from holding attack will automatically go to whatever's closest to you. It would already make it more predictable. You want the head, press R1 and up on the right stick, instead of R1, wait to see which part it's locked to, try to get it to target the head.

Final Fantasy XIII

Lock-on should basically just work exactly the same as KH games - Hard lock toggle via a button, and then cycle targets by L2 and R2. R2 cycles right while L2 cycles left. When in hard lock, the lock SHOULD NOT disappear. This game drops locks even when hard locked.

Anyway, no point in complaining about it now. It's still fun enough.

Gotta agree that there should be a default lock-on for the bigger enemies. We could then select the different parts of body with the right analog stick. The lock-on is iffy now because it is hard to get the exact part for lock-on the first time and then since it also resets if we use a technique, we are back to square one.

Lock-on works fine for enemy encounters with just one target like I had with the Level 110 hunt.

Haaa! Cool then! Sorry for the post! I thought it was a quest you could take at Altissia only! Now you got me excited again! I'll go do it then!

Thanks!

So to confirm, while spinning swords and axes like a crazy man, if you're halfway through an animation and press the block button when the prompt appears, it'll cancel out your current attack? Or have I got this wrong?

Does anyone know some fun beginner dungeon(s)? I'm in chapter 3, but already level 28. The only dungeons I've found all contain much too strong enemies for me at this point. By now I've only completed one (the one that's reaaally close to the first
Royal Tomb
)I really want to complete another dungeon though!! Who can help?

It's in the game.

Not the prompt, the prompt is only to tell you that a parriable attack is coming, so you can hold block and after blocking you can press attack to parry. What Blink does is cancel absolutely anything into a dodge if you press it as you're about to get hit. Without the prompt.

Started chapter 13.
The scene where the Regalia gets shot up and everybody is sad was hilarious for me because my in ocean blue with its racing strip and flames on the side my Regalia looked like a hot wheel.

So, I'm in post game. Lvl 64 with about 320k XP banked. Trying to finish some of these bounties. Not even sure how to approach one of the simple level 30 toad ones from lestallum. It needs to be daytime and rainy. If I wander around doing other stuff, if it's daytime and rainy, I could quick fast travel up by vesperpool but then it won't be rainy anymore due to the time passing.

How are people attacking some of these hunts with these specific conditions?

Just play normally until it rains, then fast travel to hunt location?

You can easily get about 400 AP in one in-game day while farming in the Three Valleys (Leide). Get the Shield of the Just, add some +STR gear and keep warp striking in to enemies. You need to pick up the Beast Whistle from middle of chapter 4 though. Makes AP grinding ALOT quicker. The basic system is really really slow. I think devs need to increase the amount of AP obtained.

just killed
leviathan
. good lord the story telling in this game is atrocious. absolutely no emotional weight to what's just happened.
i firmly believe this game should've been tighter and more linear to begin with, thus allowing a stronger narrative, than open up right from the beginning.

I'm on chapter 13 and liking it. For some reason the graphics look notably better here, plus the lighting. The stealth is overblown since you can just use Alterna to kill enemies easy. And the dungeon is actually straightforward imo, not very confusing at all. Just make a few mental notes and look at your map.

It's just boring as fuck.

That's the thing, maybe it was bad luck or I was too far away, but the one time I did that, I must have been far enough away that enough hours passed while fast traveling and it wasn't raining anymore when I got there. Guess I'll just keep trying....

Thanks

I'm doing this now, but it's still frustratingly slow.

Surly there is an accessory that doubles the AP gained.

Ch13 would be better by either not restricting combat or by
making the ring more powerful during that time, thus making encounters painless. They didn't work at all.

Oh, I'm gonna take him on right when I return to Duscae.

It's just one Fire magic combined with one rare coin? But won't that only let me cast the spell three times?
You can do one, but best results is to combine with 8 Rare Coins which will give an EXP multiplier of 96 as well as give you 5 casts. I got my hands on 24 by doing the resetting trick with random treasures in Cleigne, which is a bit tedious mainly due to how long it takes to reload saves.

I did this with 15 EXP x 96 Fire casts as well as some more using whatever other coins I had and jumped from 36 to 71 with the Triple Decker Sandwich/Triple Ham Sandwich from Wiz's Chocobo Post for plus 50% exp (Ignis learns the recipe after you eat it the first time) and also had Noctis equipped with a Moogle Charm. Then stayed at Galdin Quay for the x2 EXP bonus. Altissia has a x3 that's super expensive and I believe there's a food there that gives plus 100% exp so this could go even further once you reach that point.

I'll probably try it again later to go further but am ready to progress in the story for now.

Man, I am a bad leveler. Chapter 8, 45 hours in, and I'm only level 35 lol. I guess I like camping a little too much.
I don't really go for exp boosts either, I just camp and rest because I like that gameplay loop a lot.

Max amount of days I went on without resting were two, and it felt so wrong.

I got rain first thing in the morning a few times, maybe try camping over and over again close to it until you get a raining morning.

What is this resetting trick? So when I kill the bandersnatch once it'll be gone forever by default?

I need to do this. I didn't know there were accessories upping the amount of AP I can gain.

The airship is such a disappointment. I wanted to see if I can get into that canyon right below lestallum and Noctis just auto-steers away when you get close. Landing is a chore, especially that small landing strip next to the secret dungeon. The loud jet engine is annoying, and the mechanics are just not that fun.
In fact, I never wanna fly around again. Nice job, devs, making me not wanna use a freakin' airship.

It's one of those things where they go with realism over fun. They should've made it so you can stop in midair, and then to land you just press X and lower yourself down. And no invisible walls.

The ending despite being so fantastic left a huge hole in me

i wanted to see the world without the king and crystal. What happened to everything, rebuilding and what not. Was Insomnia rebuilt or just left in ruins?

I wanted to explore the entirety of the dark world, I wanted to see the main cities as the last haven for humans There was so much they could have done here for sidequests and actual exploration content.

What happened during those 10 years with the bros

They honestly need to do a follow up to this game. New hero and stuff and do an aftermath to the world. Give us more summons, allow us to explore the land where the rails section were.....literally the train section world looked fascinating. Sucks that the only snow we get to see is maybe a total of 10 minutes of the damn game. Would have added more variety to the world.

But yes, I left wanting more and was sad that we didn't get to see everything after Noctis saved everything by giving his life.
