Give the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 a look. You'll love having the extra stops, and it's one of the best all purpose 3rd party lenses you can buy for Canon.

Oops, misspoke, didn't see you're on a crop. It's the Tamron 17-50 I believe for crop bodies.

any tips for pics of food? (assume I'm starting off with crap light)

Kirk tuck has some blogs on how he shoots food I quite like it because in his photos its about the food not about how many or how complicated his light setup is or anything like that. Essentially his setup is off camera lights/flashes. Check out his blog.

Finally figured out what the login information for my old flickr account was. The last time I uploaded anything on it was in 2010, so I went ahead and updated it with pictures I've took over the past year. It's pretty cool to see how much I feel like I've grown when I compare stuff I took now to stuff I took before 2010. Lots of that stuff was really bad, so I have it hidden now.

Last time I posted was in the Q3 2014 thread, so here's some pictures I've taken since then:

I drove out of the city early this morning to catch a clear moonless sky (I live in the Chicago suburbs).

Some whispy clouds moved in, but I had a nice window to shoot about an hour before dawn. I did this with the Samyang 8mm f2.8 fisheye with my NEX-5T. I am pleased with the results.

The turning windmill did not show up as visibly as I had hoped it might.

Holy shit, I've always wanted to do this. Really jealous, I don't think I could ever get this anywhere in London.

Anyway, came to post some little beauties from my garden. Had to go scrub myself down, they gave me the willies.

Also messed around with the cropping suggestions for a more film look on some of my sunset pics and was really happy!

These are awesome. Love the fisheye point of view for sky shots? How long was your exposure?

Gaf, i was hired today by an agency to take pics and small video clips around my state for a campaign.

It's a big agency but from another state, i will have to work around 20 hours a week tops with a shot list and will work on my own schedule.

They accepted my first proposal which is 2k per month from now till june, i think i should have asked more lol but if they love my work i might be getting more work from them in the future.
What do you think?

If you get more work from them, that's great. However I wouldn't expect a "raise" of any kind. You've set an expectation on performance and cost. Performance expectation may increase, but they'll likely always expect to pay what was first negotiated.

I know that, i talked to a friend who works for a other agency and he told me it was a fair agreement, keep in mind this is in Mexico where minimum wage is less than 10usd per day.

Hey guys! I used to be a member and post in these photography threads a few years back, lost access to my account though... finally approved for a new account and glad to be back! As always the pictures you guys take are pretty impressive. Hoping to catch up to you all someday.

These photos aren't exactly recent, but I haven't really been using flickr much lately. I'll upload and share some more though now that I'm back on GAF.
