Halo 4 |OT2| TURBO

So is someone making a HaloGAF thread tomorrow? Didn't we have to wait until E3 to make a new one?

Week after

So we're supposed to not talk about E3 or something until then. IDK.

It's so that Halo news threads on gaming-side actually get made, rather than a universal HaloGAF thread be created seconds before E3, the first 200 pages be full of ":OOO OMG HALO SUX WOW MARLOWE LOOKS GREAT DO YOU GUYS THINK THAT VEHICLES PILOTABLE NO WAY THAT WARTHOG SHADOW IS IN-ENGINE," and then all the news just be dumped into it. The intent behind the week wait is that we get a few separate "reaction" threads based on new news so that all of GAF can appreciate whatever Halo shit awaits us. Then, a week after, all the reactions / people back on board with halo / people that want to shit on halo can conglomerate in the new HaloGAF OT, which can be geared more towards community in addition to news reveals.

Sweet sounds good to me.

The actual range of the utility weapon should be infinite. The projectiles should not disappear once past a certain distance.

The actual damage of the utility weapon should be static. The projectiles’ damage values should not drop over distance.

The effective range of the utility weapon should be limited to medium-long by a finite red reticle range and a 2x scope. Outside of the limited red reticle range the weapon should receive zero aim assist or bullet magnetism.

Since the effective range of the utility weapon would be limited, by the effects of a finite red reticle range and a 2x scope, the ranged damage that a player could deal is effectively reduced.

The ideal weapon in a 2v2 match is a Magnum that kills in 4 shots, with the fourth shot being a bleed through headshot, and has an 8 shot clip. One player, without reloading, can get a double kill if he fires all 8 shots perfectly. In a gametype with an even number of players per team, a weapon that kills in an even number of shots rewards perfect teamshot more. The Magnum’s fast reload and melee animation are well suited to the fast paced gameplay that occurs on small dubs maps. 1v2 situations can still be won by a skilled player due to the quick nature of the Magnum. A single layer Overshield is the perfect power up for Doubles because a player can kill an Overshield enemy with one clip if he lands all his shots including the final bleed through headshot.

This idea is actually really cool.

A weapon’s effective range is limited by its red reticle range. Scoping in increases the range, out to which, the weapon receives red reticle.

The penalty for being shot while in scope is a reduction in effective range, not actual range, and certainly not the ability to aim.

The penalty for being shot while in scope is absolute: the player is descoped; nothing more, nothing less. Not only do the effects of the Flinch mechanic, to what degree a target’s aim is disrupted, vary from weapon to weapon but those effects are additive rather than absolute. Simultaneously being shot by two enemies will disrupt the target’s aim twice as much; players can only be descoped once.

The ability to ping a sniper, in order to remove him from scope, allows a player to take away one of the Sniper Rifle’s greatest advantages: the high magnification scope and accompanying increase in red reticle range. While a player may not be able to kill a distant sniper with a utility weapon, he can reduce the ranged damage that the sniper can effectively deal by forcing the Sniper Rifle into reduced aim assist mode.

Flinch makes Sniper Rifle bodyshots overpowered. There is no point in going for the, more difficult to achieve, headshot when one Sniper Rifle bodyshot will have the target unwillingly staring at the sky and unable to return fire in a timely manner.

Flinch makes shots against a scoped in sniper underpowered. Instead of removing the Sniper Rifle’s long range aim assist and high magnification scope, the sniper’s reticle placement is ever so slightly disturbed but no where near enough to be an effective deterrent.

When the penalty for being shot, while in scope, is being removed from scope, it creates a self solving problem. You are scoped in on a distant enemy. The enemy does not want you scoped in on him. He descopes you. Problem solved for him. Alternatively, you are scoped in on a distant enemy. You are then shot by a proximate enemy. Now you are the one who does not want to be scoped in with an enemy so close. You are descoped. Problem solved for you.

I'm sure you don't care, but you have no idea how disappointed I'll be if you guys do Halo 2 Anniversary with Halo 4 MP or something like that. Missing the point by miles.

Good god, randy's invading the chat now. Is he trolling?

Frank, are you intoxicated as part of a PrE3 Preperation ritual?

EDIT: Apparently the randy in chat is not the OG. Interesting

Spoiler warning, avoid the stupid fucking IGN Facebook page. Don't ruin your E3 reveals people, wish I had of known.

Was it Halo related? I don't see anything on their page anyway.

A massive list of games at E3, avoid
So your E3 remains fun!

Oh I saw that on their site, most seem obvious, I'm not seeing any surprises. Only the ones with *'s are the ones they confirmed with the publisher, the rest seem like their educated guesses.
