Hyrule Warriors coming out on August 14 in Japan [Up: Famitsu Images]

Well, yeah. But again, my thing is that I would rather this type of game be one that could be unto itself, just so that it can do whatever the hell it wants with regards to story, character-selection and scenario-usage.

Midna being able to get into bitch-slap contest with Ghirahim and Vaati, all while Groose and Ricky the Kangaroo team up with Darunia and Mikau to fight against Agahnim and Zant's armies. It's the kind of fanservice that I'm hoping will either happen in this game, or in a possible sequel!

That's what I'm hoping for too. Just make a world that's an amalgamation of previous canon Zeldas and have fun with it.

Weird time travelling has been a part of past Warriors titles, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see something similar in this title. It's a good way to incorporate a lot of different characters, after all.

This is a damn good Link design. Fucking hell.

I like that they changed his face, his nose primarily. Nintendo needs to change Link up some more throughout the games in general. They have to set every Link more apart, imo.
I mean, he's a different person every time, right?

-2 player mode where one person is on the GamePad, while another is on the TV. When playing alone the GamePad acts as a menu.
-Equipping different weapons onto characters will change the way they fight, including speed focused one-handed swords to heavier weapons that focus on damage.
-Weapon upgrade system and character growth/improvement

Can we have all of this stuff in a mainline Zelda game now? I'd really like it if the series took cues from the brand direction this game is taking.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
The games dont say anything about hyrule existing before skyloft, but the Historia says it existed, now , one could argue that only the games are canon, but even the games contradict themselves unless you assume that what its written in the Historia is canon.

Also this
The land wasent even named hyrule before SS(and even if you want to get technical, it was named grooseland first)

I'm so excited for this game ;_; How did a dynasty warriors game get me excited.

I just hope I don't get bored to tears after 90 minutes. I hope it has enough stuff going on, and tones down some of the repetitiveness.

WELL FINE:

If i get banned, i'll be really mad. Mods, please edit my post if it's not allowed.

The picture is ON THE FAMITSU WEBSITE, it's not a 'scan' as far as i know.

Also: Apologies if it's old and everyone has seen it. It was new to me.

Also also: I never thought a 'DYNASTY WARRIORS' game would be one of my top 5 mosted wanted games one year. Sigh.

Ooooooh this looks really nice :D
Best Link design hands down

The land wasent even named hyrule before SS(and even if you want to get technical, it was named grooseland first)

"Actually it was, the name was forgotten over the ages until after the events of Skyward Sword, when it was named Hyrule once more." - What could easily by Nintendo's explination

You might as well be saying "But OoT is the first Zelda game! Miyamoto said so!"

The fact that they're giving it some references to the Zelda timeline (SS) suggests that it's probably canon. It's not like they're just throwing whatever in there.

.....*checks back a few pages*

Welp, I take that back. The possibility that this is a Skyward Sword prequel has my hype plummeting. :(

I guess I'll still wait for more info. Game looks fun regardless.

I wonder if we'll start seeing this design now on generic nintendo merch. Currently you see the twilight princess model on everything nintendo does.

Specifically these two:

You see them on stuff like coffee mugs, posters, shirts, or anything where someone is using Link as an Icon.

Link design looks great. Not so convinced by the witch with the massive, prominently displayed tits. I know it's just what Team Ninja does, but still, starting to get a bit sick of it and wasn't keen on Samus' zero-suit 'enhancements' in Other M either.

Search the thread, realize everything you thought about Nintendo and Big Boobs was a lie... especially when it comes to Zelda characters.

No one's forcing you to use it.

If Zelda was two player, all the dungeons and everything would have to be designed with that in mind, so the game would essentially be different than traditional Zelda, for better or worse.

So yes, it would be "forced" upon him.

And since when is 2-Player for main 3D Zelda a thing?

I really doubt this new Link removes Twilight Link from the main role. As it is this Link is a Spin off by a third party where as T Link is the star of the best selling and performing Zelda since OOT.

They're not massive.

I completely agree with your sentiment, but they have a goal of selling most of their copies of this game in the US and a pair of heaving oversized tits is practically currency here.

I love that design on Link, it looks so damn great!
I'm hoping Nintendo will add that design to Smash Bros, at least as an alternative costume.

True, but I couldn't imagine it being any worse than how the formula was changed to accommodate the game-long "escort mission" that was Phantom Hourglass.

Not every time, but most of the time.

Doubt they'll use a spinoff's design in any sort of major capacity. I get the sense that the TP design is sort of the definitive design for Link.

Using two characters to clear a dungeon has happened in multiple Zelda games. Wind Waker you played as the leaf guy and the bird girl in those two dungeons and in link between worlds you worked along side the thief in one dungeon. You could design a game built that could support solo play and co-op

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures says hi.

That's in the timeline!

I'm all for nintendo selling off their IP to 3rd party, so long as they distinguish it from first party developed ones. Dropping 'Legend Of Zelda' is appropriate, just like 'Mario Tennis' isn't "SUPER Mario Tennis."

I don't think they'll replace TP Link unless Hyrule Warriors turns into a runaway success. Then again, I don't know how they decide these kinds of things *shrugs*
Nintendo might put out the standalone scarf though
hopefully

Lets also remember that you can even see elements of the Twilight design in Hyrule Warriors Link, just as you could see some of it in SS Link.

TP Link is here to stay for a while, at least until we get a new Adult Link and have the game perform at or near TP levels.

They didn't do for the Oracle and Minish Cap games, though, and those were developed by Flagship/Capcom.

Why would this be the case? If there's anything Dark Souls has taught me, it's that people just want to team up to fight stuff. Mulitplayer doesn't have to be like Four Swords, where the puzzles are designed to be teamwork oriented. The enemies and bosses would just have to be tough enough to actually be challenging with two people.

The single player experience wouldn't necessarily need to be different at all, outside of being a lot harder without help.

So, now we wait for Zelda to receive the Team Ninja treatment. Maybe she gets a mole too. :)

Urm Samus always had the beauty spot, Team Ninja didn't add that in.

I doubt Team NINJA will get away with their fanservice BS on Zelda herself, Miyamoto has upended tea tables on the Smash Bros. team and others for trying similar stunts on Nintendo princesses.

Then how come Sakurai got away putting Princess Peach's underwear in Melee and Brawl where it got a redesign?

Well guess what! :
From the old Direct about Zelda WiiU

Hmm after Link Between World and reading that I am not looking forward to Zelda U. :(

Well, Capcom was 3rd party and they made the Oracle games and the Minish Cap. :O

But fair enough.

Nintendo still had a heavy hand in those, and they PLAYED LIKE ACTUAL ZELDA GAMES. The level structure in 4-sword adventures was different, but the gameplay was still like minish cap or a link to the past. I agree it's the oddball, and if it were made today, it would probably drop the "legend of zelda", but hey, whatever.

Mario Tennis doesn't play like a 'Super Mario' game. Hyrule Warriors doesn't play like a "Legend of Zelda" game. It's appropriate that they distinguish themselves from the mainline games.

He has no scarf in this one. I wonder if scarf is part of his green tunic outfit, or if it's an item. *shrug*

The translated parts mentioned he was still in training at the beginning of the story, so I guess that scarf and tunic are part of the proper knight attire or something.

Exact opposite here. To me ALBW was the most fun Legend of Zelda game since Ocarina of Time and I REALLY hope they carry over some of the game design to Legend of Zelda WiiU.

Wondering if this model will be the same model that the new Zelda uses? Nintendo likes to reuse their models for efficiency.
