According to Variety, Courtney will round out the Connor family tree, joining Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor) and Jason Clarke (John Connor) in the Paramount/Skydance co-production. Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to the role for which the franchise is named, and launched him into iconic status.

Without giving away 30-year-old spoilers, the capacity in which Courtney’s version of Reese plays will have have to be far different than Michael Biehn’s version in the original (if he’s to stick around for the proposed trilogy).

Courtney’s acting credits include Spartacus: War of the Damned, Jack Reacher, A Good Day to Die Hard, and most recently, I, Frankenstein.

Thor: The Dark World’s Alan Taylor will direct Terminator: Genesis, currently slated for July 1, 2015.
