Let's talk about sexualized men in gaming and lack of diverse body types

Too bad there aren't many kemono games :(

The PS2 era was truly the golden age.

They're quite frequent in the 16-bit era. I think even 32-bit too. And Shining series gave me all the kemono husbando that I need.

Also has this thread seen Housamo/Tokyo Afternoon Summoners? Basically a gacha game for gay people. Has abundance of different body types for different audiences. Not really into it but my furry friends are.

In HZD, I found the three male NPCs with
overt or hinted romantic interests in Aloy
really attractive.

I'm glad no one in the game is oversexualized with the possible exception of one stunning late game woman, but I wouldn't've minded seeing Varl in the buff. Straight guys get to eat in every game.

I'll take all three of them. I totally forgot to mention some of Horizon's character hue. They are great examples of not being oversexualized but sexy still.

One thing that's always annoyed me is how few male characters in games have body hair. Smooth lower arms, smooth legs, smooth chests and bellies everywhere you look. In recent years, I feel like we've had a few more examples of body hair (like on Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4) but it still seems to be the exception. Though at least in the case of armpit hair, it's probably just a matter of technical limitations. I imagine it would be kinda difficult to skin that shit properly and make it look alright with both raised and lowered arms.

I think he wasn't mentioned because this thread is mostly about sexualized men. The game had references to his
dead partner and collection of skin mags,
but that's about it.

I agree he's a great character. His banter with Ellie is gold in the game. Any other studio would've put in gay panic moments or somehow painted him as abnormal.

This is the way to do token representation but do it right. His story is small but it's moving; it utilizes his sexuality (in that his relationship is directly addressed) but it doesn't make a big deal out of it. They even get in a few yuks about his gay porn without ever having it read as homophobic, which is quite a feat.

And nice to see Naughty Dog move from this to even more central LGBT representation since - unlike certain other developers who have stuck a toe in the water and then regressed.

High fives everywhere. Naughty Dog just wins the game across the board in terms of non-binary representation. I have no idea what this thread is about anymore, though...

im sure fan artists found a way, but how would you even? his beak would just cover your whole head

I suppose this thread is totally derailed by now, so:

a.) It's not all about the beak;

2.) They found ways.
