Remember Me must've sold like 5 copies because Capcom can't seem to remember it.

I'm playing it right now (thanks PS+) and I understand why Capcom can't remember it. The game is the definition of forgettable IMO. It's name seems more like a beg than an actual title xD.

5 million PS4s? Yeah they will probably do that with relative ease, should be really interesting to see the numbers in all 3 regions, but in particular Japan, what the general response is. Amazon pre orders and all this jazz is not precise enough one way or another

Vita like the Wii U is hopeless, in a way its good they arent (so far) putting Gran Turismos, God of Wars, Uncharteds etc on it. Just focus on the PS4 and still supporting the PS3, since its doing really well considering its age and considering both competitors have dropped off the face of the earth.

Weird that they did not do the "Hey Guys we sold/shipped over 80 mil PS3s, arent we great!?" type PR, i guess they just dont give a shit and are probably more focused on the PS4.

I don't really get where this comes from. The only system that I have numbers for that's done this before is the Wii.

Other comparisons are hard to make because of different regional launches, but 5M is no mean feat.

(Which is why the original Wii U forecast of 5.5M was a bit lol at the time and now in retrospect is farcical.)

Well yeah =P there is that one Uncharted game. But i hope they dont devote resources to the Vita too much, purely for selfish reasons.

Gonna hide now, as i can hear Dave coming!

This is the first time in PlayStation history they are launching in NA and Europe at the (relative) same time. Whereas before it was Japan first, then some time went by, NA, then more time and finally EU.

Obviously this depends on how much they can manufacture, but if they are projecting 5 million, then i take that as them believing they can produce that many. I think they can sell that many as well, especially here in Europe the hype is at a fever pitch.

Should be interesting to see how they do

Fingers crossed for a smartphone game!

(Seriously though, why would people pay twice as much to play them on a weaker, bulkier system?).
Sell your Vita then.

Uh, are you guys being sarcastic regarding the Pokemon milk, or are you are just ignoring the 15,000 different spinoffs?
They're spinoffs though, annualized sequels is more damaging.

Haven't they basically done this already without anyone noticing?

Heart Gold and Soul Siver in 2010
Black and White 2011
Black and White 2 2012
X and Y 2013
and most likely X and Y 2 or Z in 2014?
B/W 2 is essentially the third game though, it just means more sales doing it this way.

edit: oops didn't see you guys went over this already.

Pikachu detective thing is apparently a large project. I'm a little confused as to how things are worded; either it took them two years already or it will take two years to make. Doesn't sound like something they'll be pumping out.

Pikachu game started in the Summer of this year and has a proposed 2 year dev cycle, so probably a July-Sept release of 2015? Of course, that should be right about the time the 3rd version of XY is appearing on shelves, so IDK. Also for future reference (Chris), the spin-offs are not touched by Game Freak and most of them are over seen by The Pokemon Company.

Also this :

In Japan, we just launched today what we call the Premium Family Set that provides great value for money by offering, in addition to the contents of the regular Wii U Premium Set, bundled accessories as well as two popular games that come pre-installed on the system.

Until the release of the “Pokémon X/Pokémon Y” software in mid-October, we concentrated our marketing activities on Nintendo 3DS, and we were unable to promote the Wii U hardware in the market adequately. However, those of you who are living in Japan must have realized that we have been actively marketing Wii U in the last two weeks. We are already seeing promising signs from pre-orders that have been placed, and we will attempt to dramatically change the environment surrounding Wii U from this week through the end of the year.

We'll see Iwata, we'll see.

5 milions seems possible

Japan:

release in February - probably around 300-400k sales - first shipment around 500k

USA:

release in November - 500k November , 500+k December then a quarter at 150-200k each month - 1800-2000k

Europe

similar or better than America - so another 2 Milions

Asia/Africa

Hard to say but they will contribute a bit.

Garaph.info is updated now?!?
The Media Create hardware has continued automatically updating--it's just pretty hidden since the standard view of weekly sales defaults to the latest Famitsu software data, which I haven't dealt with since the last time they changed their page format. However, I suppose even the auto-updating Media Create thing will need some adjustment in the near future due to new platforms.

POSA cards have become popular in Japan, and have already sold no less than 1.3 million units.

For the people who aren't regulars in Media Create threads:

What is Dengeki?
Dengeki is a website (it's also a brand of magazines / a book and manga imprint) that publishes sell-through Japanese sales data from ASCII Media Works, Inc. Every week they publish a nationwide snapshot of Japanese video game sales with the cooperation of more than 3,000 specialty game stores and convenience store chains all across Japan.

Why post Dengeki numbers when you have Media Create / Famitsu in the OP?
Among other reasons, Dengeki gives us sales numbers for titles that are too low to debut with numbers on Media Create / Famitsu. So, their liberal reporting allows us to track sales that we wouldn't be able to otherwise.

Is Dengeki less accurate than Media Create / Famitsu?
No. All three trackers are inherently trustworthy. However, they have quirks that make some people prefer one over the others:

Media Create:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Media Create Co., Ltd.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 20 software sales with numbers
+ Top 50 software sales without numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sometimes presents sell-through figures
+ Releases first (at the same time as Famitsu)
+ Nintendo uses these numbers in their investor presentations
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not track download cards
- Does not provide software sales figures past the Top 20

Famitsu:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Enterbrain, Inc.
+ Tracks about 3,600 retail stores / chains
+ Top 30 software sales with numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through ranges for all titles
+ Has the most historical data available for GAFfers
+ Tracks download cards
+ Releases first (at the same time as Media Create)
- Does not distinguish between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not report total software sales

Dengeki:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from ASCII Media Works, Inc.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 50 software sales with numbers
+ Top 3 software sales per platform
+ Total software sales per platform
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through figures for a few titles
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Inconsistent data reporting over the years
- Does not track download cards
- Releases nearly 24 hours after Media Create / Famitsu

first day impressions from retailer blogs for Wii U and Wii Party U are the expected for some, unexpected for others.

very slow move, maybe bigger stores with more family friendly audience show a better picture

First day sellthrough will show a more clear picture tomorrow.

Gundam and lbw seem to be doing well, a couple of sellouts for both

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I just wanted to say we have our first PS4 title in Comgnet store chain daily ranking. It's Yakuza Ishin, with 17pt.

For the Wii U's sake, I certainly hope so.

Wii Party U even appeared on the comgnet stores top 20 preorders, which is at this point a feat for a wii u game.

Yakuza Ishin is the first PS4 game to enter the top 20.

Yeah. It's the biggest push nintendo did for the system in a while. If that don't catch on... Things are going to get rough.

Let's see tomorrow how it will end. If all that stuff was for nothing, i don't think Nintendo can do much more. Maybe a real pricedrop, but i think it's unsustainable for what they want to achieve...

Vita owners buy third party games, Wii U owners don't. Simple as that really.

What third party games has there even really been for the Wii U? Every other week seems like some new Vita game is announced. Even when the system was doing basically nothing. The Wii U hasn't gotten jack. There's no way it can survive with basically no third party games. Hell, why would any Wii U owner be even looking for new games? It's so rare that one is announced, let alone released. Anyone buying a Wii U in Japan is doing it ONLY for Nintendo games, because they have no real promise of anything else. At least the Vita was getting new games announced to keep people at least a little interested.

first day impressions from retailer blogs for Wii U and Wii Party U are the expected for some, unexpected for others.

very slow move, maybe bigger stores with more family friendly audience show a better picture

First day sellthrough will show a more clear picture tomorrow.

Big Sony (and Vita especially) fan here. But I really want to see all dedicated consoles to do well. I hope these Wii U bundles do perform better than these first impressions imply. At least I hope they perform decently while Mario arrives.

I just wanted to say we have our first PS4 title in Comgnet store chain daily ranking. It's Yakuza Ishin, with 17pt.

It begins.

I agree a little with you . You cant say wiiu owners dont buy third party games when theres nothing being released, but when wiiu first launched, it had nice games which sold almost nothing. Some might say that they were late ports or stuff, but if someone didnt buy a game because he can play somewhere, then you are trying to sell your product for the same people. If theres not an exclusive public, why develop an exclusive game? When the wiiu had games, they sold bad. Since most of the sales came on the launch, its safe to say the same public is still there, so it doesnt make sense to release another tekken or another musou, when the last ones sold jackshit...

Wiiu had revelations and it bombed, tekken and it bombed... Its hard, but its reality. Namco and capcom didnt bail totally out. Capcom is releasing monhan frontier, Namco got pacworld, taiko and disney infinity... There is some support, but if what you want is the type of game that goes to the other consoles, unless nintendo start doing a great job at capturing that market in the next years, you better buy a ps4 or one.

I know that Final Fantasy XIII-2 had a big drop from the first game, but you don't think Lightning Returns could manage to hit the 600k mark?
It still sold well but like XIII, the game had a very mixed reaction. I think SE would be happy with the game selling 500k in Japan and 1.5 million worldwide.

I saw 3 ads for Wii U Party just yesterday and 4 the day before (in a total of about 6 hours of television)

This is the most ads I have ever seen for a Wii U release (including the hardware). Also the most for a Non-pokemon Nintendo game I have seen since New Super Mario Bros 2.

I don't think the ad is very good but at least it's getting the word out. I really feel they should have had ads with this frequency for the Hardware and early releases. Seems a bit too little too late, but if it is a taste of how they will push 3D World, Wii Fit and DK in the future then its a good thing. Or at least less bad.

Hm good to hear. Btw, which country was this and what channels/type of programs out of curiosity?

Not this year, no.

But if retailers are dumb enough to order 600k copies, then maybe in two years when this first shipment is nearly done selling.

Honestly, I think the Japanese Wii U doesn't have anything interesting for Japanese folks. The games that Japanese folks really play don't really come out on Nintendo consoles. The 3DS gets a lot of stuff, though. I think Nintendo's big problem is that they've been out of the "console" business in Japan for a long time now. The Wii didn't get any of the real big name games (with a couple of exceptions), and the Wii U is continuing that trend. However, the fact that there's nothing new coming out for the system or even announced means it's always on the back of people's mind. Who really cares? I was in Tokyo a few weeks ago and the Wii U sections in some stores are small and basically empty. Almost the same as it was for the Wii. There's just nothing to get average people excited.

One of my high school students asked me if I owned a Wii U and what games I played on it. I told him and the class and we talked about it a bit. Most of them didn't even know the games existed and some didn't even know people played games on the system at all. Questions like whether or not there was a Final Fantasy game, or something equally big? There's just nothing. With nothing, the Wii U can't expect to do well at all there. If the big third parties aren't making games for it, it's a good as dead.

Oh, I'll be real surprised if Disney Infinity does anything. At TGS no one was even playing that game. Good luck to them.

Interesting. So what would get them excited exactly? The big franchises I could think of off the top of my head would be Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter and Pokemon. Mario gets a fair shake usually as well. The Wii U technically has a Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter, but they are enhanced ports and DQX is a MMO.

In all honesty I'd say Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate sold ok on the Wii U all things considered.

To be honest, I have no real idea what they can do. People just don't seem to be looking at the system to buy games on and there's nothing to really drive them in that direction, either. The Wii U just has a lot of problems in Japan. Honestly, I want to see all of the systems make it, but Nintendo is in a serious hole. Not saying they can't ever get out of it, but they need to really look at why people aren't buying their console. Perhaps Japan has no real place for a non Playstation console. Perhaps I'll bring my Wii U in to class one day and let my students try a few games.

Either way, my takeaway from talking to folks is that there's nothing interesting and no reason to get one. It's not cool, either. Heh, heh.

Also I'm reading that maybe Little Battlers eXperience: Wars is not the huge bomba most people is expecting.

First spot in GamesMaya. Second Gundam Vita and third Neptunia. (were are you Wii Party?)

Well Nintendo consoles have pretty much never been cool since the SNES. Ironically the N64 had a ton of cool games to back itself up, but then the design of the GameCube really killed it =(. So is the 3DS cool then for some reason?

I'd also be interested to hear what your students say once they actually play it. I've found quite a few people who played the Wii U and NintendoLand found it fairly fun in all honesty. At least the older ones have even considered picking one up. However, they aren't the type to desperately need a console either, thus they're probably biding their time. This is all in the US though.

Little Battlers, Gundam and both the regular and special editions of neptunia are all sold out on amazon.

It's amazon yeah but from what i have seen they don't usually sell out of alot of things in their launch week

Edarkness, i understand your point, but when you have some famous games and almost all of them fail to sell 10k copies, its hard to justify more support. But i agree with you that nintendo have a huge problem of not only awareness, but of indiference. More games would help, but since this year is already ending...

About disney, i dont know. It might sell more than wonderful 101. lol Disney got a name in japan, on the other side, I dont know if the mode will catch attention. If it was a japanese ip... But it got its release date on its favour.

Are Super Mario 3D World and Taiko drum game expected to show up in the Comgnet rankings, and if so approximately when?

(I know they shouldn't be used as indicative of anything, just curious.)

Europe.

If they can sell a million+ ps3's week one at $500+ in march they can sell a million ps4's at $400 in november

Yup. EU + NA is the reason why the figure is that high.

Haven't they basically done this already without anyone noticing?

Heart Gold and Soul Siver in 2010
Black and White 2011
Black and White 2 2012
X and Y 2013
and most likely X and Y 2 or Z in 2014?

Its basically become like Halo. Main games every two years and spin off every other year.
