I now have major trust issues with Microsoft these days. I just can't believe anything they say with immediately think BS.
Yet when I hear Sony from the likes of Jack or Yoshida I get a warm fuzzy feeling I always had associated with gaming. Personally I hope MS go the way of the dodo with regards to consoles and just go back to making games. I don't think we need more than one gaming console in the market. It just split the groups of friends I would be able to play with.
They shouldn't be sorry.
The so called "fans" should be sorry for acting like immature kids.
Microsoft should demand an apology.
Go fully digital then, you have that choice next gen.every time I have to pop in a disc, I'm going to scream goddamn it microsoft.

This. People are just stuck in the past.So let's focus on the future that could have been, instead of the future that will be? I know I am maybe a bit naive about that and try to see positives wherever possible, but I don't get the "but they had those plans that now are obsolet" argument at all.
It doesn't take long for people to forget the terrible restrictions MS were ready to force on us only 3 months ago, does it.
i dont see why an apology is needed . They had a plan set fourth for their product and yes even though i disagreed with some of it i dont think the fanboy/whiny gamer rants are warranted. ms didnt set out to screw anyone with the xbox 1. Hell from what was written sony was supposed to follow suit and then bitched out .
They should apologize by changing some of this bullshit:

People are aware of that, we were told which companies were on board and who wasn't. Not Take Two or Activision though so not sure why GTA and COD are on your boycott list.This. Also, gamers act like Microsoft acted alone with their policies but they didn't. EA, Activision, all of them were in on it. Microsoft was just the one carrying the flag. Funny how no one boycotted EA, or call of duty or GTA V. Fact is, those companies were on board and when the backlash started, they kept their mouth shut and acted like they never supported it.
I like that people assume that giving the consumer more is a bad thing.
There's nothing inherently wrong with apologising. In fact, I wish there was more of it in the industry. Nintendo barely apologised for their entirely shoddy treatment of Europe in the 90's. It took Sony an absolute age to get their head out of their ass on the PS3. It took a month for Microsoft to realise it fucked up. That's actually great! The turnaround and disconnect between the industry and consumers is getting less each generation and it only benefits consumers to have communication lines. And the thing is, there's nothing wrong in saying sorry. Patton Oswalt can say sorry for stealing jokes earlier in his career and be thought of better for it. Why not Microsoft? They are learning. Albert Pendello has posed on NeoGAF itself that they wouldn't consider bringing back the DRM as the only system and they don't see a reason why both can't be on the same system. All three companies are adapting and thats a world of difference considering how terrible the industry used to be in reacting and adopting consumer feedback.
Of course, there are people who will thump their chests and start screaming about console warz and how they will never forgive Microsoft for what they tried to do. But hands up how many would never forgive Sony for $599/Killing Lik Sang/Online Passes/Rootkits/PSN hack/"Get two Jobs" and are buying a PS4?
Maybe its time we started treating apologies like adults instead of petulant children sulking in a corner.
As I said above, Albert is one of the most amazing people I work with - that's why I invited him on my podcast a few weeks ago. I jab him a bit about posting on 'GAF (fact: they would not approve my account of there) but he's smart and driven. He's also right: We have some of smartest programmers in the world working on Xbox One. I am very much looking forward to the next few months (and beyond) as the truth comes out.
.....like what?Yeah fuck them that they actually changed it and actually make games now.
I can't believe you honestly sat there and typed that, but from the other crazy posts I've seen from you, I'm not even remotely surprised.
.....like what?

Speaking of Larry Hyrb, it seems he took to Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/com...ello_there_is_no_way_were_giving_up_a/cc2nezu) to post that he agrees with Albert Penello about the Xbone's power vs. PS4. The thread Albert originally posted his comment in has been locked, but Albert basically said that the PS4 is not 30% more powerful than Xbone.
So Hyrb writes this:
Two things: I love that he and Mr. Penello keep repeating this mantra about how smart their programmers are. As though Sony employed a bunch of drooling morons who grabbed parts off shelves and hot glued them together when they came up with the PS4.
And that second sentence I bolded--could it be pointing to the rumored reveal of a discreet second GPU later this month when AMD reveals their next line of hardware? Personally, I don't believe the rumor, but I can't think of anything else he may have been referring to (other than posting another of those laughable comparison charts on his website like he did at the start of this gen).
Thoughts?
I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere, but I couldn't find a thread. Mock if old.
Pre-order numbers must be really bad.
For what its worth, I was at Target this morning and they had the Preorder Cards for both systems on the shelves now, next to the PSN, Xbox Live, and Game Preorder Cards.
There were 2 PS4 cards left, and 11 Xbox One Cards left. I know it means nothing unless we knew how many they started with. However, it was interesting to see, especially with the comments from GameSpot employees, Walmart employees, etc.
It's not politics. It's facts. They are charging more for a technically inferior piece of hardware with a required accessory and introduced it to us all as s revolutionary way to make watching TV easier. Not to mention, they started out with some pretty anti-consumer anti-privacy measures that were rumored for months and despite people saying they didn't want any of that, they dismissed those people and did it anyway. Fuck. Them.
People are aware of that, we were told which companies were on board and who wasn't. Not Take Two or Activision though so not sure why GTA and COD are on your boycott list.
Okay then Mr. Casual. What do they have to be sorry for? Microsoft actually changed their next gen policy to please these internet-less submarine dwellers, upsetting people who showed genuine enthusiasm for the new console, and what happens? People like this Jeff Lane fella go out and buy a PS4 anyway.
Actually, yeah. I take back what I said.
Microsoft should be sorry for how it's treated Xbox One fans. The real ones. We are actually buying the system.
I don't want to hear about how much they care about the community when they tried to pull the biggest screw job in the industry's history. Not to mention they damn near completely abandoned gamers on 360 years ago.
So let's focus on the future that could have been, instead of the future that will be? I know I am maybe a bit naive about that and try to see positives wherever possible, but I don't get the "but they had those plans that now are obsolet" argument at all.

For the record, I agree with you. Sony's actual actions that caused them to be in the position they were with PS3 are in no way comparable to what Microsoft was attempting, which was a straight consumer routing. I am merely saying I prefer THIS immediate change and response to Sony's slow and plodding acceptance over a number of years that "ok, maybe we do have to change some things."
Now of course, it has been said by some - rightly - that some Microsoft people have already gone on record that they will re-implement this stuff at some point down the line, when they think "consumers are ready." And that therefore an apology like this cannot be legitimate when they're saying that out of the other side of their mouth.
I can certainly see the rationale in that and wouldn't even really reject it, except to say as long as they see the need to go on an apology tour over everything that happened, I believe the further away such an attempt is. So I think this is a good thing on Microsoft's part.
