What the hell, man.

Is this a parody? This is a parody, right?

Thanks for posting this pigeon <3

Also I shouldn't be surprised but not even half of the first page went by before people were all in on "actually...." and other semantic bullshit. The need for people to dance around the word and concept of racism is why its so hard to actually do anything about it in this country!

Those are the only issues. Those are the only things of any remote substance that Trump has brought up since he started running for President. He doesn't have any real stance or policies or ideas on anything other than "Mexicans are criminals, muslims are terrorists, women suck and BLM are responsible for dead cops, on and BTW my Veep hates gays". Everything else he has said with regards to any other issues are just fluff and one-liners. There's no substance to his campaign that isn't bigoted, so what other issues do you want people to focus on? Anybody who says they support Trump on any other issues than these is either a flatout liar and closeted bigot, or an idiot, and in both instances they should be called out.

You're missing two other big pillars of his campaign: the political establishment is corrupt and can't be trusted, including Democrats and Republicans; and his trade protectionism. It might not be coherent but he's made statements to the effect of threatening companies that outsource or have closed down manufacturing plants (like Ford, say) to bring those jobs back to the United States or he'll slap them with heavy tariffs, he's heavily criticized trade agreements like NAFTA and the trade deficit, and he's pointed to his business experience as evidence that he'll make "good deals" that help America. I do think this is one of the biggest factors for his appeal, even if it's bullshit manipulation.

What the fuck, man.

Is this a parody? This is a parody, right?

It's a segment from Colbert's Late Show at the RNC.

Ideals can be vilified. A whole group of people on a broader range of issues than just those don't have to be.

I read it all the time. I am not conservative. I'm not liberal. I think racism is something that has to change. You have done what I should have expected somebody to do, which is construe my disappointment at how incredibly divided and vilified the two political sides are these days into an endorsement of backwards outdated ideals. I can't wait until those ideals change and progress and I'm definitely not seeing anything change throughout the labels and insults and hate. I mean, sure, we can say let us hate the people who hate us. Let's treat them like they treat us. But what does that change? How does that let us progress.

We certainly aren't going to progress when one side wants a specific group of people with different colored skin to be discriminated and hated. We certainly aren't going to progress when one side wants to discriminate rights to the LGBT community. But you seem to have all the answers for us on how to change this oh so tiny problem. So please VanWinkle, educate on how we're supposed to educate people that hate another side because they want equal rights and respect no matter what skin color, gender or sexual orientation. We're waiting.

Just 24 hours after the Wikileaks stuff. Had to make sure they pull out the racism stuff right away to detract. I'm not sure if this strategy is working. I think the left needs to move towards policy attacks.

Republicans want to overturn Roe v Wade, revoke gays right to marry, and make conversion therapy for homosexuals a "legit" form of treatment.

They want to deport 11 million immigrants.

Republicans want to bring back trickle-down economics as though the Bush administration was so long ago that people don't remember how fucking much that shit didn't work.

The want to abandon NATO, oh, and Trump is likely in cahoots with Putin because Putin called him smart that one time.

Trust me, this week Democrats will have a field day attacking the steaming pile that Trump/Republicans refer to as (lol) policy.

But we can do that and also call Donald Trump a racist. Because he is one.

Yes, we could tell that you were above it all because of your "both sides are bad" rhetoric. Sure, the side that actively fights racism, sexism, etc. is just as bad as the side that tries to make those things a fabric of the American lifestyle.

You're naive. You're not in some movie where if I'm nice to a racist, then goshdarnit, he'll decide that I and other people who have black skin like me should get the same human and civil rights that he does. It's bullshit that you think that way.

I'm perfectly nice to everyone, but when someone stands up and argues that I'm less than them, I'm not going to put a hand around their shoulder and tell them that I understand where they're coming from, but I disagree. I will fight them with whatever legal and rhetorical means that I have to do so.

Both sides are bad? No I'm saying both sides hate each other and vilify each other more than I've ever seen and it's disappointing. It's a terrible political climate.

We certainly aren't going to progress when one side wants a specific group of people with different colored skin to be discriminated and hated. Actually I don't have the answers. Saying you're disappointed in the way things are doesn't mean you know how to fix them.

I mean holy crap. This is exactly what I'm saying. My mere suggestion that people are more than just some of their backwards ideals gets me these kinds of responses.

Why don't you go make this post at redstate or stormfront and see what kind of replies you get, then come back here and say both sides are the same.

Oh I think liberals probably vilify conservatives more than the other way, but it's very possible that I just see it more because I hear a lot more from liberals than conservatives online. I think it's great to show people that different races and different religions and whatnot should be treated the same as everybody else, but seeing them purely for those terrible (probably inherented) viewpoints is unfortunate.

At least crawl back to your disingenuous "both sides are the same" bullshit, because the bolded is embarrassing.

As have you ever thought about why one side hates the other? Do you think it might have to do with one wanting to rip away the rights of the other based on their physical differences? Do you think it might have to do with the fact one side wants to rid 11 million people because of stupid shit spilling from a racist, incompetent businessman that that a 40% of the country rallied behind and is now GOP nominee? That is what I have a problem with and what many here have a problem with! You say that it's terrible when two sides hate each other, well one side wants to further discriminate people of my skin color and many other minorities. I'm not going to respect that opinion, that idea, because it's disgusting to me as a black man and a human being. These two political sides certainly aren't the same, but I'm sure it's hard to see from high up on that marble-sculpted horse of yours. So why don't you take a hammer to it and see things from our perspective, friend.

Like, what practical effect does this have? "Okay this person give to charity and is nice to his wife" so what? If he's voting for trump he's voting for systematic bigotry. Why is it wrong for people to prioritise that over everything else?

Voting for trump doesn't inherently make you racist but being able to put aside all or it and still come to the conclusion that you will vote for him is hardly better.

I love how much "racism" has lost its meaning over the years. You know there is actually racist people who openly wish for black people to be put to death, but Trump apparently didn't want to rent out property to black people decades ago so therefore he is basically the KKK and needs to be stopped at all costs. If you don't like him there are a lot of better ways to fight him than baseless accusation.

So what do you call a racist? Can you only be a racist by calling for the deaths of racial minorities?
So wanting separate but equal wasn't racist?

Tell us your definition.

There's plenty of basis to the accusation that Donald Trump is a racist. Why are you defending the racism of a racist?

I'll be surprised if VanWinkle even returns because a lot of people here have shot down his "both sides" nonsense! It's holds no weight. At all! It's getting really annoying when someone tries to tell the problem and then "but the ideals of both parties..." One sides is clearly causing problems for the other but no, we both hate each other. Yeah, well obviously because one is trying to destroy any and progress as a nation and what Amercia stands as a country. What it should be, not what THEY want it to be. A hopeless cesspool of bigotry and violence against minorities. I'm not having that.

I love how you seemingly have no idea what the meaning of racism is.

Your opinion is shit and doesn't even deserve an actual response.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAH, how the flipping hell did I miss this grade A, organic horseshit. The article in this very thread says all that needs to be said about these "accusations". Get the hell outta here that nonsense.

I remember Trump coming into national news with the colossal failure of his Atlantic City casino, the general knowledge of his towers in NYC, and his opinion that 5 black kids should be killed which he expressed through a full page ad he bought in the newspaper. And some guy comes in this thread saying "You know there is actually racist people who openly wish for black people to be put to death, but Trump...."

If you aren't actively, currently lynching a black man, calling you a racist is just going too far. It simply isn't enough that you think other races are inferior. I swear, we need the good old days back.

How do you know the lyncher is racist? This could be entirely unrelated to race. Don;t throw that word around so willy nilly, it's serious.

This is sarcasm. I hope it's obvious but these days you never know.

This is accurate. You can't even find a hanging black man in a place where the KKK had made threats and expect it to be called racism.

The only reason I'm probably not going to respond anymore is there is nothing else to say. I will bring up one last time that I am not saying both sides are the same. I've said it multiple times. I mean, if you want to reduce your parties purely to how you treat the other political side, sure, I see them as the same. But that's NOT all we are. Both sides aren't at all the same from an ideological issue perspective. Literally all I've said is that I hate that the sides both are so vitriolic towards each other. That the are so divided. THAT'S IT. Why are you trying to make me out to say more than I am? YES, I understand the frustration liberals feel towards backwards views of other races, religions, and people of other sexual orientations. Rake those issues over the coals. I'm all for that. I'm just saying, don't reduce a person only to those issues and start to see them only for the bad views they hold. I'm saying it's good to treat people better than they treat you. I'm saying that insults and labels clearly aren't the avenues for progress when it keeps getting worse.

I'm sorry if I upset you or anyone by expressing my frustration with the division in our world today; it wasn't an endorsement or acceptance for one side or the other (in fact it was just the opposite) and I didn't realize that people would see it that way. I didn't mean to offend anybody. I think that these issues are serious and need to change and I didn't think people would see my post as an expression of something otherwise.

Well you know something VanWinkle, it's pretty damn hard to see the good in someone when the bad views they have is so bad that the scale breaks and sends the good stuff flying into the stratosphere. That is the point, they can be the most wonderful person in their neighborhood but when they rally behind and support a man who proclaims and boasts about his terrible, disgusting views, well it's just makes them looks just bad, if not more so. And let's get on the people who not only rally behind that, but want it. That's even worse, and it's certainly not going to change when I give a pat on the back and take them for some ice cream. Because they probably aren't going to say that to my face. But when I leave outta earshot though, oh yeah it comes out. So it's not hard to give those labels when they are 100% fact. Wanna know how progress is made? When people like that with their disgusting ideals are left in the dust and reduced to irrelevancy. We do not have to see from their side, or understand that. We can talk and discuss with the moderates who don't want trump, yes. But when it's people who are excited about the prospect of Trump winning, hell no. We leave those scumfucks in the 1800s and 1960s, where they belong.

Well, I have not advocated for any Republicans to be deported, I haven't argued that they deserve to be murdered because they aren't angels, and I haven't waged a two-hundred year campaign of oppression and disenfranchisement against them.

I think I'm good on treating them better than they treat us!

I'm saying that insults and labels clearly aren't the avenues for progress when it keeps getting worse.

It actually keeps getting better. In the 1960s, it was totally normal for white nationalists to run for president and even control many state offices. Today Trump is a huge outlier for being a white nationalist, and he's going to lose by a huge margin.

I would argue that racial justice keeps improving in America, and a big part of that is making it very clear, using avenues that include insults and labels, that racism is unacceptable and has no place in our society.

Calling people disgusting bigots is making America a better place. I encourage everybody to keep it up.

The problem is you are literally telling oppressed minorities to turn the other cheek and take what racists and bigots give them and try to understand them, as if any part of that is something they can solve. It's victim blaming, as if the victims can do anything to stop the other party from hating them and any part of that burden is upon them to solve. You are putting it in more words with more frills, but that is basically what you are saying and what people are reading. That is why they are upset with you. Think about how long racism and bigotry has gone on for, how it is still happening and how the conservatives and pundits try to pretend and push the agenda that it doesnt really exist anymore. Just don't post anymore, i'm not saying that out of malice, just don't post on the topic for the night and really think about that. Think about telling a group of people that, a group of people that have no choice in that matter of changing who they are and have to deal with this day in and day out, think about how saying that to someone might be offensive. It goes beyond politics, it just so happens that one political party embodies all that racism and bigotry in their agendas and platform.
