Official Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas topic

Ah, the fabled Supply Lines mission. I played it for the first time tonight. There's no feeling quite like running out of fuel right next to the roof at the end. :D

Also, a question. How do I change clothes in San Fierro? Do I have to buy a property to do it, or do I have to go allll the way back to CJ'S house? I want valet missions! :)

The country part (Catalina, the drug dealer...) is fucking awesome. So well designed from a gameplay perspective...I really feel like if I was going from town to town and the environment is so AWESOME....That's the proof you don't need awesome graphics to recreate a certain situation.
The more I play the game, the more I like it.

I picked it up yesterday, put about an hour into it...

I'll confess to some simple mistakes on the first couple of missions. I had to do the first bike riding mission about 3 times :/ The first time, I got overzealous with the X button and the others took a different turning and I couldn't find them (pretty lame they just disappear and don't just wait for you at the final spot). Another time, the car that was chasing us threw me off the bike (pretty unfairly IMO, the physics looked a bit odd to say the least) and by the time I was back on the bike I'd already lost the others.

The tag mission was semi-annoying as it doesn't point out where the tag spots are so it's pretty much just wandering around until you find them (the map in the corner sucks on my TV for some reason, really hard to make out where some of the markers are). Is there a way to invert the right stick btw? I keep getting mixed up when I want to move the camera.

Think I only did those two, then I messed around a bit, causing mayhem. Saw a fair few cops being run over by other cops! Spent some time in an alleyway with a hooker, beat her to death with a shovel and then stabbed her repeatedly with a knife she dropped.

So far, I'm not overly impressed but it's still really early. I think my lack of GTA playing is a bit of a hindrance - I played GTA3 til about half way through the second city and just stopped playing. Didn't play Vice City at all. The controls don't feel right just yet and this city seems to be a lot more dense than liberty city, narrower streets, more of a surburban feel. I'm also thinking I'm going to get lost *alot* :lol I'm not one with a nose for directions and I'm not very spatially aware so this could be a tough one! Gonna put some more time into it today...

I screwed up on the first mission a few times as well, sadly. The game has several different locales for you to go out and discover. Keep heading North, and you'll hit some wide open spaces.

yeah, some of the best level design ive ever seen. The scope of the area's is unbelievable. It was also an awesome change of pace, i mean first your constantly in dirty grity parts of Los Santos then bam, nice relaxing, scenic country side. awesome

Supply lines has taken my will to live. First go I got to one building away and ran out of fuel. Haven't been that close since. With Halo 2 out tomorrow I'm tempted to take a break from the game because it's really fucking annoying. Not hard, every time I've picked off the five couriers, but just frustrating that you need to do it inch perfect to complete it.

Having finished all the missions including Zero's missions (in about 35 hrs), I came away impressed, but I still think the game is more evolutionary than revolutionary. That being said, it may still be my GOTY.

I'm starting to agree, especially with missions. I'm hoping that next gen GTA doesn't have such rigid pass/fail missions, and the type of "laws" that must be abided by during them are thrown out the window. I can understand they need to keep them challenging but there's a fine line between challenging and frustrating.

The thing is, you do not need to complete this mission to make the story advance.

There's nothing like the feel of hearing Zero tell me after I eliminated the last courier to return the RC plane to his building. My stomach sank, because I thought that killing the last courier accomplishes the mission.

This is true. If you don't want to play that mission, then skip it. Don't insist that developers deny everyone the opportunity.

Found something very interesting :

Sorry, this may have been mentioned, but I don't want to read all 26 pages...

Anyways, is there any news if this game will get released on the PC or Xbox? I really want to play it but I don't own a PS2.

Little, I don't know how legit that is... I've been hanging around The Camel's toe and Las Ventures forever and still can't find a Euros. I haven't seen a Euros in the entire time I've played the game, actually.

Does fuel go to waste if you just let your red baron sit on the ground? I only played Supplied Lines once already, and I didn't bother to fly. I made the plane roll on the ground stopping and hitting the breaks until eventually one of the couriers came to me.

I'd assume 6 months for the PC version and 12 for the xbox

The "fuel" is actually a timer...I think you have like five minutes to finish the mission before you fail

I heard the ending to the game is disappointing like the previous GTAs. Is it true?

Huh? I thought all of the endings in the GTA's were pretty cool. SA's is badass.

What CJ says at the end is one of the reasons I love Rockstar. It's like they're saying 'Alright, that was OUR story, now go make yours." Instead of, "Our story is done and now so is the game. See you when gta4 comes out."

Well, it comes from the data files of SA. Sometimes, you need to unlock a car to make it spawn (like the kart).

They might be out at different times of the day. I say this because I went searching for a kart in San Fierro and didn't find it in one place but then I went to another place on that map and found it.

Just seen the GTA 3 cameo...and then something popped in my mind:
Is Catalina the same girl that betrays the GTA3 main character at the beginning of the GTA3 story ? If so, the question will sound stupid but sorry...long time since I beat GTA3.

You are correct

Ahaha, it's quasi-impossible to get. You'll need to go to the military base in San Fierro, Eastern Basin, and get out of there with a 5 star wanted rating. Good luck.

The mission Truth sends you on into
the Restricted Area 69/Black Project
was hard enough, but for some reason the casino mission "you've already had your chips" is destroying me.

It says to sneak into the factory, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how. Everytime I just go in through the front I manage to destory everything but getting out is very tough. The worst thing about it is that after the opening "hey who is that prick!" animation CJ has walked into the open and you start off with a half dozen guys nailing you. If I could control my entry into the building I'm sure I could destroy the machines and still have enough health and armor to get out, but I've gotten wasted just feet from the door outside a half dozen times. Grrr. Maybe I'll go do another heist mission instead.

For me so far the airstrip missions are the best yet. n.o.e. was awesome, how the hell Rockstar managed to make a flight sim more entertaining than most PC sims is beyond me.

Uh, I just beat finished all of the missions for that asian guy, the last mission being where you go on the boat and rescue those immigrants, then kill that old man in a sword fight. When do I get to move on to the next city? I'm not getting no phone calls or anything.

Pretty good game so far. I'm only about 12% in. I stopped doing missions to take over all of the gang territories. Just barely finished doing that last play session. About to turn on the PS2 in a bit.

You'll get a phone call.

Hey, does anyone know why the girlfriends don't show up at their designated times? Denise stopped showing up at her house after Reuniting the Families and the other broads (except Michelle) aren't even registering

Make sure you did Jizzy's missions. He's up by Gant Bridge.

Actually, I kinda found it off that map you posted. It's at the Easter Bay Chemical Plant, south east from the Airport in San Fierro.

I never had any problems finding Denise at her house. I had to find a way to break up with her though so I had to punch her. :p The other girls don't seem to show up unless you're dating them. I've just been dating Katie instead of trying to find any of the other ones. Took me long enough to find her and she's really annoying as it is. Can't even hop out my car without her calling for a date.

Will San Ferrio open up after I finish the missions for the cop (sam jackson's character) and the spanish guy that's obsessed with lowriders? It's gonna take me forever to finish this thing with all the other games coming out.

It really is a bitch to get through. I did it a minute ago by riding my motorcycle in the left side of the entrance the car is watching, and riding around the crates to the left to eventually get behind the car. Drove in and got another animation and the blasting started, so I sped all the way to the corner on CJ's forward left as you're entering the building and fought them off from a distance.

The thing is that sooner or later a guy is going to come in with a rapid-fire shotgun, and he's wearing armor so you have to have excellent skills with the weapon you're using to kill him quickly (better chance of headshots) or he'll wear down your armor and health in no time. Shotgunners come inside at least twice, and there is one outside on top of crates as you're about to leave so don't get in the car until he's down.

After that, just drive off and return as usual.

You can get the same result by just going in as usual, but it'll be at least two more people inside if the car guards get to warn them and that's just overkill.

In that "Youve had your chips mission" I actually left the factory in the middle of the fight, got my health back by eating at the nearby store, then returned.

I am pretty sure the enemies just respawn forever.

I've found the one shooting on top of a building in outer Los Santos, and there's one in the Advanced Driving School in San Fiero.

Yeah, now they're starting to show up. I guess you have to stay in the area for a while. I end up going through too many cars with Denise so I'm going to give her a swimming lesson when I'm 100% with her :)
