Honestly, that's why I don't understand some folks regarding this topic. Let's be honest here, why do we watch pressconferences to begin with? Right, the games. Ever since following E3 live for the first time (I believe in 2007) every year we'll have the same song and dance regarding these pressers.
"Pfff, man Don Mattrick is such a faker. Show us games Don!"
"HAHAHA, did you see that guy mess up that demo live at the PS presser. Embarassing."
"Lol Cammy couldn't even beat the first Goomba. Goddamn casuals"
"TV TV TV TV. We don't care about entertainment available on just one box, we WANT GAMES"
"Reggie is such a douche. Why does he keep talking about sales figures? Fucking Nintendo"
"I swear, if Jack keeps talking about the Playstation ecosystem, kittens will die"
* Note: the statements above are just a few excerpts of the past few years.
But the games are shown, everybody is happy and tears of joy while exclaiming "oh man, it's a slow showing but it's been worth it for this trailer!" Call me crazy, but I'd rather have a Digital Event without the fluff of those bloated conferences.
It's not about people watching the conferences, it's about the mass media who cover the big E3 press conferences. Those are exactly the type of people who Nintendo should be trying to educate, not pandering to the 5 million hardcore fans who already love Nintendo and already own WiiU.
Oh, so when the mass media turns on the broadcast they'll be greeted by a huge flashing sign that tells 'em to "Turn of this stream, it's just for fans?"
