Regardless. They said it, not me. What form that 120 fps comes in is up to the developers.I wouldn't expect 120 fps. Even with these systems being powerful, that's still a shitload of processing power that they would have to make drastic sacrifices for.
I doubt that is true. Most people I am pretty sure can tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Beyond 60, I can completely believe that it's difficult to see. Some people have truble seeing difference between 30 and 60, 120fps on consoles is complete waste of resources. Both consoles will output 120Hz, just like X1X.
I would love to see VRR support in every game with framerates above 40fps in unlocked mode, complete elimination of tearing and bad frame pacing (good for From Software).
They can't. Trust me I'm with you on it.I doubt that is true. Most people I am pretty sure can tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Beyond 60, I can completely believe that it's difficult to see.

I don't see the difference.
It was a reference to Xbox One X.Even the "monsters for breakfast" was a reference to a PS5 quote.

Thanks in advance.
You are right. They will release cheaper, worse versions on the Playstation - just as Omega Labyrinth Life has shown. Meanwhile, versions that are *actually good* will release on PC and Switch (and maybe Xbox).
I'd like Sony to not censor the anime games for perverts either, but come on, they are a niche of a niche of a niche, an inception niche if you will. They are irrelevant when it comes to sales figures.

If console users care about specs why not go for a pc lol
If console users care about specs why not go for a pc lol
Bcus pc doesn't have (drumroll plz) some of the best exclusives "I like"
Uncharted
Astrobot
God of War
Horizon
Spiderman
Bloodborne
MLB the Show
Tlou
And others
You get my drift
While I mostly agree with you, it can depend how they implement their extra chips/features (how effective is their raytracing implementation is by example, or if MS starve their GPU with low ROPs and async compute units -- look at how the PS4 PRO somehow holds its own against the X, these are some of the details that aren't taken into account on a lot of comparison that will from time to time make the difference). They very well could be swapping the lead. Both console are probably identical outside clockspeed. One ups the clock they take a small lead. These machines will be very similar any win will be sleight.
Good HDR, better immersion.I have a base Ps4 and I never felt the slightest temptation to get a pro or a x1x. I play games, not specs. Res and Framerate differences are not important to me. I'm going to next-gen with a 1080p screen and I have no intention to upgrade to 4k.
Seriously MS had nothing but the announcement.
They had no specs, hardware or games (Halo being multiplat and only running on current Gen don't count)
They had just a video of engineers reading the Sony article.
Even the "monsters for breakfast" was a reference to a PS5 quote.
But good on them, they didn't fall right into the trap.
By not announcing any specs they can change stuff, but that's if Sony actually announces anything first.
But they've set a date, time is ticking.
Ahemmmm none of those recent exclusives are on there and ahem you can keep your bs streaming of uncharted 2 lolAhem.....

If Microsoft is not going to release the most powerful console they are wasting their time. They are by far in the best position to deliver on that and if they do not then they are going to have alot of bad will from the players that prefer their console.
Microsoft is not going to win in sales so if that is their aim they are going to deliver an inferior product to come in at a lower cost and still be massively dissapointed when Sony and Nintendo outsell them.
PR from both companies are fucking liars. I don’t fucking trust any of them. They are snake oil salesmen.Indeed Greenberg is a know liar... that we can agree but I believe he did not said exactly what the article is trying to saying...
Man this dick size contest has to stop... can we just wait for more details on both before believing in some pointless rumors?
You're right, I want to see some actual dicks being measured! No.
I do find it funny how many people are so butthurt that we're even talking about this. I mean, it's pretty newsworthy - the exec editor of a well-known popular gaming mag shares industry talk about the next generation. That's awesome!
I've seen far more people complaining about phantom dick measuring than I've seen actual dick measuring. We get it - you don't want to hear about speculation here. You don't have to click the thread link either, though.
stream = higher latency though.Ahem.....

Yes and no. As far as "normal" games go, a difference of 1-2tf will be minimal, probably only noticeable in Screenshots. But for VR games, every Tf helps, since the console has to render 2 images instead of one and at much higher Framerate.Serious question, does it really matter anymore? It seems like deminishing returns would be really kicking in. I suspect they will be pretty close to one another regardless.
They already have an xcloud like product, and running for years. Its called Now.
PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 stream data like a local server... you don't need anything between them and the client. The PlayStation doesn't stream the data though, it comes from a server.
The Scarlet will act as a local server. Basically a mash up of Now and remote play, but for Microsoft.
it was more powerful, just a lot harder to develop for.
I see the slight differences, but to the average gamer playing on his wal mart tv, they won’t care. Over the years I’ve noticed these comparisons are only popular on gaming forums, but when you talk to people in reality, they don’t care at all if one game has more pubic hair on a 3D model than the same game on a competitive platform. They just get the system that has their favourite games and whichever their friends are playing.Actually it was not. The GPU in the PS3 (RSX) was inferior to Xenos by a significant margin. 192 GFLOPS vs 240 GFLOPS. In order to make up for it, developers had to program CELL (which was a nightmare at the time) and use techniques like SPU deferred shading just to make up for the lack in RSX ALU power.
See developer notes on the use of SPU deffered shading for CELL processor for Battlefield 3 and their equivalent on Xenos, the slide claims that although there is no DirectCompute or SPUs on 360, Xenos, unlike RSX, has enough power to crunch ALU.
See slide 70 of Siggraph 2011
So all this nightmare programming was just to make things equal, not necessarily surpass 360. In real world scenarios, multiplatform games on 360 generally outperformed the PS3 counterpart.
So what was the result of all the work put into programming cell? Did it really mean that SPU deferred shading for BF3 would make it superior to the 360 version? or was it simply a necessity given the inferior GPU?
You be the judge with these BF3 comparisons below:
That and 8k is just marketing bullshit. Console gamers eat that shit up because they don't know any better. Except for you fine people, of course.I wouldn't expect 120 fps. Even with these systems being powerful, that's still a shitload of processing power that they would have to make drastic sacrifices for.
Ya, it’s all PR to make people foam from the mouth. Tread softly gamers, and don’t fall for the PR crap from any of these corporations. That and 8k is just marketing bullshit. Console gamers eat that shit up because they don't know any better. Except for you fine people, of course.

With fps interpolation in Samsung HDTV it's hard to tell a difference between 30 upscaled to 60 and real 60 fps, but controls are more responsive at 60fps (that I can tell). Some people have truble seeing difference between 30 and 60, 120fps on consoles is complete waste of resources. Both consoles will output 120Hz, just like X1X.
