Someone on Reddit made a 30fps vs 60fps site.

These gif comparisons are always so terrible at demonstrating the massive difference.

edit- ok these might not be gifs but you get my point

I'm someone that finds frame rate fluctuation and differences easily perceptible, but it's honestly really hard to tell a difference the way that site is presented.

Somebody on Reddit really should make a "Watching Videos of Games Isn't The Same as Playing Them" site.

I don't understand when people say they can't tell 30 from 60 fps when they are playing it.

30fps feels like moving through treacle compared to 60fps.

I can tell the difference when they're side by side, but I'm still more than okay with 30 fps. It looks more than good enough.

Its still better than what I have seen, where people will zoom in a frame of PS4 version of 1080p game and zoom in a Xbox version of 900p and compare grass to fight till end.

I don't see the difference.

Do what it says. First, look at the left image for a few loops.

Then switch to the right image.

If you're constantly going back and forth the difference is mostly lost. If you compare one after the other, the differences are stark.

How one can't see a difference is beyond me

Maybe it's just my browser. I can easily tell the difference between something like a game trailer on YouTube vs the 60fps version on Gamersyde, but this site really doesn't seem to do a good job of properly illustrating the difference. Yeah, the right side is a bit smoother, but it doesn't seem quite right.

The benefice of 60fps is controller response... how can I see that?

Resolution is a visual feature... framerate except when causes screen tearing is a gameplay feature.

I know, I was just being a dick.

I almost went for the "30 fps looks better" comment.

I'm looking at the Sleeping Dogs one and I can tell that the 60fps one is smoother with the character movements and the camera following behind. 30fps looks jittery when there's movement.

He should do it so that the 30 fps clips are using Ultra settings, and the 60 fps clips are using Medium settings. Then people can determine whether they think it's worth trading a good framerate for extra "eye candy".

I survived playing 16fps games here in pal land on the N64. I think I'm ok with whatever we get in the future.

I prefer the one on the left. It allows for a more cinematic feel and better visual effects which is exactly what I want in games.

I can easily tell the difference when playing games. But the gifs on that site all look the same :/

It could be a browser issue.

Isn't that a good thing?

Means he/she can enjoy games irregardless of their framerate.

I guess so. But 60fps just looks so much smoother to me. I imagine when people see 30fps being the same as 60fps, they're just not able to see the higher framerate.

On this site? I can't tell the difference. In fact, the 30 fps one looks smoother.

When playing my my games? TOTAL difference.
