Violet has a crossover audience with Pearl I think, so she's a safer bet. I just don't see Ginger winning because that same hyper-sensitive, tween mentality audience would probably start some stupid twitter boycott campaign.

You're part of the problem Leona. I'd be mostly ok with the winners if I felt they were based on merit. But from season 3 to now its been largely a popularity contest. What's the purpose of having a competition if the winner is chosen based on who's the cutest out of drag?

Well, to be fair, I do think that the show's fanbase has a tendency to rally behind queens that are hot outside of drag, even if they're...undercooked drag-wise (*cough*Milk*cough*).
Thing is, previous seasons had drag queens who actually possessed C.U.N.T. and who would eventually send the trade home.
I would prefer Ginger to win over Pearl, and I don't like Ginger that much.
The thing is that Pearl doesn't do it for me as a drag queen, I was expecting for the reunion something different, but is the same blond wig, the same lingerie, the same make-up, the same colors... I'm over it, she is the truly one note queen, not Max as so many unfairly accuse her of.
And outside of fashion she doesn't stand out, she is not funny, or a dancer, or a singer, or anything, her gig is to just stand there... and give faces.

Sharon Needles, Jinkx Monsoon, Bianca Del Rio. They were the most popular in their respective seasons because they were incredibly talented, likable, and did the best performance-wise. Their non-drag looks played no part in it.
Pearl is a talented queen. Yeah he's fuckable out of drag, but to say he has no merit just because people are thirsty for her is unfair. Plus, I think people love that he looks like James Dean out of drag and Marilyn Monroe in it. It's a striking dynamic and there's an allure and uniqueness to her glamour that draw people in. I don't think she should win based purely on her performance on the show, but if she is THAT much more lovable than her competitors then it's important to look into why.

I'm guessing people are really into the vulnerability they've seen from her compared to Violet or Ginger? :/ They've seen Pearl get into a rut and get out of it to win challenges unlike most of the trade from previous seasons. I think if Pearl were slightly more busted looking as a boy, the result may have been the same but with less dickpiggery.

Gotta hand it to her, she really did deliver one of the most consistently strong runway sets in Drag Race history.
Can't believe I forgot about this. Truly she leveled the runway and salted the earth it was built on. 100% unclockable. This might call for a Season 2 rewatch.
It would be nice to see Raven again too.

I've been thinking about the last episode a lot and the way they kept prodding Pearl for info about her past, and it really bothers me. It's something about the show that has bugged me for awhile now, but it has become really gross. I don't care if it's reality TV, the show doesn't have a right to exhibit someone's personal trauma for entertainment, and I feel bad for queens who get sucked into the idea that they have to have some sort of big personal "reveal" to last in the competition.
I also think its made me understand Pearl a bit more... I think some of her disinterest, or seeming lack of enthusiasm might be her keeping her guard up and not wanting to play into the drama the show tries to manufacture. Anyway, it's made me respect her a lot more. I hope future contestants pay attention to this and do what Pearl did. Maybe then the show will focus more on actual drag and less on bullshit, fake drama.

The live finales have all been very RuPrah.
The live finales? The live finales bore the hell out of me because Ru never really asks about the drama that went down. Except for the video of Laganja and Adore watching footage of their drama, all she does is have a brief moment with each queen where she asks them vapid questions that nobody cared about the answers to like "how has this experience changed you?" And if the queen she's talking to started a meme she repeats it to make the audience laugh, but that's it.
Ru never gets real with the queens or give them moments to be real with each other like she did in the closed set reunions. Having the reunion in front of a live audience was awesome because it made the show feel bigger, but it also means all the queens are so busy being cute, being on their best behavior, and trying to sell their memes to the audience one last time that they're not being real.
Season 1 and 2 reunions? Now that was some Sally Jessie Rafael shit...

RuPaul has such a big and infectious spirit, but I feel that in recent seasons she's made herself "smaller" and less engaging a personality in the service of appearing impartial.
I wish the show would go back to being an overachieving America's Next Top Model parody. The Hello Kitty episode was the one truly sickening episode (though the ending was sickening in a completely different way).

I just rewatched this reunion and LOOORD, she came for Raven like sis left her rotting in the alley after their cheap one night stand on a Sunday afternoon.
Even watching that reunion, it only really reaffirmed that there was no other person to win but Tyra... Like... She was absolutely perfect imo.

So apparently Pearl performed at a club in Philly this week, and I'm watching a bunch of Instagram videos my friends who went posted... Lord, all I can say is I hope they didn't pay increased cover charge to see that.
I don't see Pearl being one of the queens that continues to get major bookings after a year. Still a complete lack of presence. EVEN MISS FAME has improved her performance skills.

Ugh, trash. I always thought it was a mistake for her to be S7's returning queen, especially after Max's elimination, and I was correct. Alaska's face says everything.
Trixie...stop doing drag. It's just, not for you boo...
Katya could have been this season's Alaska, in her own way. I hope she achieves similar success.
I like Trixie out of drag, but don't understand her in it.
