Might as well ignore TSSZ until the game is released. It's like a new Sonic Cycle, but for stage lists.

Actually, don't answer that.

Casino from Sonic Heroes, Nothing from 2006, Chun-Nan or Mazuri from Unleashed (Sand or Chinese) or Aquarium Park / Sweet Mountain from Colors. Death Egg for S3&K too

Seriously.Dark Schala said:Mmhmm.
Sky Sanctuary doesn't have nearly the same effect on its own without Death Egg, Lava Reef and Hidden Palace. It's a good stage with good music, but that buildup in Sonic 3 & Knuckles was something else. I think that's part of the reason I loved that endgame so much. Such a dramatic finish.
Ruby has commented about the lists on the SEGA Forums many times. He won't confirm either way =P says he has seen guesses that are right and guesses that are wrong.Astrosanity said:Hey, at least the one I posted was the same guy who leaked the change in voice actors last year (I guess that was apparently a big deal at the time?) :[
Though parts of it is already off, though it was posted under the pretense it was an early level choice... It was kind of right about how character cameos would work I guess? Also don't see them resurrecting Classic Sonic and drum up nostalgia for his games just to have only one third of the game actually about him. I'm still very optimistic Sonic 3 and Sonic CD will have levels in this game, what with the much longer dev time and the inevitable Sonic Unleashed and Colors (and even '06) levels likely requiring much less work and creation of assets than the rest of the game. Wish RubyEclipse would show up and just give a simple 'yes' or 'no' if that less than appealing level list is BS or not.
Sega1991 said:You don't want to believe somebody at Sonic Team would ignore all of these great levels in favor of a bunch of City Stages, but it's one of those things that you just know they did. Even on the best recent Sonic games, there's always that one thing that still feels super out-of-touch with reality.

If SEGA always made the best business decisions, they'd do this. IIRC, Unleashed's DLC was announced after the game was released, so maybe they're going to do it like that again? They could make a lot of people happy. Perhaps we might get some new info that coincides with June 23rd. (I'm not holding my breath since E3 was not too long ago and they had Sonic Boom (and the upcoming Summer of Sonic), so why would they bother?)Kulock said:(This game desperately needs DLC. If the engine's solid enough, they could milk nostalgia for a long time. Then bundle it all up for the Wii U version.)
It's possible, but given how information leaks out of Sega like a sieve, it seems like we would've heard it earlier if it really was that old.Kulock said:Or their information is just old. Doesn't necessarily make it inaccurate. I'm not saying I believe it is, I just... wouldn't be surprised.

I don't know, every 5 year anniversary from here on will carry some heavy weight on it. 25th, 30th are big milestones, I'm sure they'll follow up Generations in some form. It'll be 10 years before you know it! God, it feels like yesterday I stood in awe at the whale chase in a funcoland.w00tkins said:The only reason they're revisiting old levels is because it's Sonic's 20th anniversary. Kidding. My bf likes putting that BGM on if he feels like annoying me. XD
Well to be fair this is a celebration of the Sonic series as a whole, and there are more modern Sonic games than Mega Drive ones.RagnarokX said:It's just frustrating that fans have been wanting classic Sonic to return for 16 years and when he finally does if this list is true Modern Sonic hedgehogs 2/3 of the levels. Don't remind me.Phonomezer said:I've totally got it in my head now. The BGM is even more annoying when you factor in the sound effect those "baskets" make when you're riding them
I guess they want to remain true to the "Generations" portion of the game's title, and that's why they're including some of the most recent mainline games. But you have a point: Modern Sonic's levels would outnumber Classic Sonic's. They can't have only three levels from Classic Sonic's games, and a ton of levels from Modern Sonic's games. That would be a little unfair. At least, that's what I think. Who knows what exactly Sonic Team thinks. On the other side of the argument, it's perfectly logical with regards to how many Modern levels there are vs how many Classic levels there are in the game.RagnarokX said:It's just frustrating that fans have been wanting classic Sonic to return for 16 years and when he finally does if this list is true Modern Sonic hedgehogs 2/3 of the levels. And that's exactly why there should be more Classic Sonic levels to even it out. There have been more Modern Sonic games. He's had 16 years, Classic Sonic only got 4 years. If they wanted to divide the levels by 3rds they might as well have had 3 acts per level and introduced Dreamcast Sonic as a 3rd character.OMG Aero said:Well to be fair this is a celebration of the Sonic series as a whole, and there are more modern Sonic games than Mega Drive ones.

Yeah, I agree that Colors and Unleashed seem a bit too recent to revisit. Although my hope is that since their assets are much easier to "port" into this game due to their similarities in gameplay and style, this will free up their production resources into different stages from other games. With Unleashed they had to create an engine from scratch plus two utterly different gameplay styles to cater to, and they still cranked out 8 zones. I'm hoping they managed to squeeze in way more content this time, especially considering how long it's been in production.RagnarokX said:It's just frustrating that fans have been wanting classic Sonic to return for 16 years and when he finally does if this list is true Modern Sonic hedgehogs 2/3 of the levels. ...No, I shouldn't be in disbelief. There are people on YouTube who believe Beyond the Beyond was the best PS1 RPG.
There are people who believe that Virtual Hydlide is one of the best games ever and is "better than most of the games we have now".
I'm sure that there are people out there who sincerely believe the CD-i Zelda and Mario games gameplay-wise were amazing.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are people out there who believe that Hoshi wo Miru Hito is one of the best games ever made. That's what I'd call an insane person.
