Out of curiosity... but I never hear anyone mention VtM: Redemption. Is it any good, and would I benefit from playing that before Bloodlines?

Since it's $6 on GoG, I might just pick it up if there's a general consensus that it should be played.

A tentative yes, but as a game it has little in common with Bloodlines.
No, story wise, it has fuck all to do with Bloodlines.

Heh, crazy.

Seriously tempted to DD even though I own it in D2D.
I'm on that list. :D

I'd buy it, but I don't have any money at the moment.

It was completely worth the $20 I paid but wow. That is a bitch move.
How is it a bitch move?

Steam has never honored price drops, ever. They won't do it. Steam is not amazon or newegg, or retail store.

So you spent more than what it's on sale for now: Too Bad So Sad.

Since I don't have the permissions to make a new thread, does anybody want to use what I've done up for Chantelise?

Chantelise |OT| of Hammerballs, Faeries and Chantilly Lace

What is it?

Chantelise: A Tale of Two Sisters is an action-adventure game from EasyGameStation (developer) and Carpe Fulgur (localization and publisher). This combination previously brought you the Japanese indie gem Recetter: An Item Shop's Tale. Chantelise is a previous games from EasyGameStation.

It's pretty similar to the Ys series with less RPG elements (mainly lack of experience and levels). Character growth is mainly dependent on upgrading equipment. Defeated enemies drop gems and picking up gems allows you to use magic attacks, depending on the gems picked up. Otherwise, the game is rather hack and slashy. Really, if you've played any of the recent Ys games, it's sort of like that. Hack, hack, slash, KABOOM enemy bursts into loots. There are five dungeons in the game (along with a bonus dungeon or two). Taking a cue from Tower of Druaga, each sub-area in a dungeon has a hidden treasure and various special conditions much be met to unlock each one. Collecting all of these treasures may be worth your while.

When? Where? How Much?

Friday, July 29th on Steam and various other DD services.

Steam Link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/70420/

The game will be $8.99 during the first week of release before going to its normal $9.99 price.

I don't like words. Is there a trailer?

Yup. Clicky Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n4V-IXLEXQ

I'm not one to like RPGs, but I'm willing to give em' a shot. Also willing to spend money on cheap Steam games.

Buying Bloodlines as well as Cthulhu and Breath of Death pack.
Was going to buy Cthulhu the next time I was going to buy something. Even if I didn't like it, I'd like to think that I'm supporting a movement for other xbox indie games to the PC.

I just started playing Recettear again, so I might have to hold off on Chantelise for a bit until I finish this.

You didn't have to buy it. You knew this was a possibility.

It hasn't had a real sale in 3 years, the most we got was that tiny store wide discount on this summer sale. Finally giving it a big sale right after the summer sale is kind of a dick move since no one expected it to go back on sale but whatever, I'm not that torn up about $6.

The fact it hadn't been on sale just makes it more likely to be going on sale. Maybe Activision saw some movement during the sale, and Steam was able to provide wishlist numbers for them to convince them to make it a real sale. I really doubt any grand con was being pulled here. They probably didn't know people cared, and when they did they decided to put it on offer. The summer sales were probably decided long enough before the actual sale that adding things wasn't viable.

OK, so apparently Bloodlines is a must-buy, but does anyone have any thoughts on Runaway? I could always use more good point-and-clicks

EA just started advertising for a big "Summer Sale" via origin. It's no steam sale, but there are some good deals in the pipeline if you aren't completely against origin as a 2nd viable DD service.

$4.99 for some pretty decent PC games on origin like:

Mirror's Edge reg. 19.99 75% off (current steam price: 19.99)
Command & Conquer 4 Tiberium Twilight reg. 19.99 75% off (current steam price: 19.99)
Need for Speed Undercover reg. 9.99 50% off (current steam price: 9.99)

http://store.origin.com/store/ea/html/pbpage.summersale

NOTE: These deal's haven't been adjusted to buy at these prices yet, but supposedly it is happening soon(ish?). Valid starting midnight July 29th-31st (no timezone listed)

I don't think anything will be activateable on steam, but seeing as I can't start a new thread (goddamn junior), I thought I might pass the message along to some fellow steam users. I know us steam folks love sales (and embrace digital downloads).

Okay, Bloodlines is totally worth the wait. I just got to Santa Monica and have been exploring a tiny bit, but I'm seeing what the deal was.

It's pretty good. Okay story, great and humorous characters, nice locales. The puzzles are pretty standard. Not easy but not hard either. The main character you play as can be a bit annoying at times but he gets better towards the end of the game.

If you buy it and like it then definitely check out its sequels, especially the second.

I liked it at the time. It's a solid adventure with a moderately engaging story and quirky puzzles. Imho, its biggest plus lies in the charming animated cutscenes that obviously reference the Broken Sword series. Same goes for the overall vibe. You won't be disappointed, I think.

Since the awesome Mirror's Edge DLC is exclusive, this is tempting.

Can't you just enter your Steam serial numbers into Origin and have it activated on there too? I've never done this, but seems like some people are saying you can do these things. Don't give EA money until you've tried this.

Quite possibly, but I don't own it on Steam.

You don't get a Steam key with Mirror's edge if I remember correctly. I was trying to move my EA games over and noticed that ME didn't have one.

Sounds promising, thanks. I'm definitely going to pick it up

Wow..I really told myself that I wouldn't buy anything after the Summer Sale until I beat just ONE of the games I got. But...Bloodlines for $5 is too great to resist. Heard too many good things about it.

Bloodlines bought. Moral of the story is... don't listen to GAF. lol.

Glad I waited instead of listening to all the GAFers saying it will never go cheaper.

But, it hasn't been on sale for YEARS. Them putting it on a sale is totally out of the blue.

So, mates, what dou you think about Nucler Dawn? It looks pretty fun to me, so I consider to make a pre-order.

Too early to tell. I've been following the development for a while, and while it looks interesting, I'm hoping for a demo early on.

Still doesn't change the fact that I'm happy that I didn't listen. I was on a buying spree and the urge to pull the trigger was pretty strong at the time. I'm now giving myself a hypothetical pat on the back for actually showing some restraint lol.

So I gifted a copy of Batman AA to a friend yesterday but he's having problems. Essentially the game runs at 5 fps and we're having trouble fixing the problem. He's tried disabling physx, sweeping and reinstalling his drivers, turning motion blur off and even trying low settings.

Here are his system specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate
Nvidia 9800 GTX+ (275.33 drivers)
AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 GHz
6 Gbs RAM

If anybody has any suggestions/possible fixes, I'd be very grateful.

His GPU could be what's holding it back =[ that's a little bit of a bottleneck there when coupled with that CPU and amount of ram

Nah, the GTX+ can easily maintain 30+ fps in Batman, if not 60.

The fact that it still in the single digit frames on all low makes me wonder if the CPU is being utilized.
