Played Beat Hazard.
You guys really like this game? It is just a one-screen, low content dual-stick shooter with uneven presentation. And holy crap I think my retinas are seared. Is this game meant to be some sort of epileptic assassination machine? Wow.
Ultra or just classic? Because Ultra adds quite alot of enemy variety and stuff, unless that is still low content for you.

GAF, I just tried Braid on Steam for the first time, and the aspect ratio is fucked. Very squashed, any idea what's up?
Like Machinarium, and some other indie titles, Braid is a technical joke of a PC game.

You'll have to change the launch options through Steam

-width xxx -height xxx

And then performance will go down the shitter on low spec machines (ulv laptops, netbooks).

That's a shame, but thanks. I guess I need to use a 16:9 ratio despite my 16:10 monitor t avoid stretching.

Frozen Synapse is going to be the weekend deal.

It now has a demo: Check it out.

No idea for how much, but give the demo a try. Seriously. Everyone.

Hopefully it's not a forced 2 pack like the summer sale. I didn't buy it because the price was 12 instead of 6 because of that extra copy.

edit: annnd it is, what a shame. They really don't want me to buy this game.

That's the actual price of the game. It's not doubled because it's two, they're giving you an extra copy for free.

It's also well worth the price.

If only they could somehow cut the price in half, and not give out an extra copy for free... :^P

That would be nice, but instead you would just be getting a single copy for the same price. If it really bothers you that much you could split the cost with someone.

Maybe I'm missing something. Instead of selling two copies for one, they could sell the game as $12.50 instead of $25. Then a 50% off deal would be under $10. I'm too lazy to try to go through the whole Paypal thing. At any rate, I might try the demo if I can find it (it's not on Steam), but over $10 is not impulse buy territory so I'll probably be cheap and wait another few years. :P

On another note, Mata Hari looks really interesting to me. I'm assuming it's short and terrible though?

Aww. Tropico 3 on sale. I just bought it from Gamersgate :( I greatly prefer having everything on Steam. Oh well.

It's a pretty good pack.

Can someone sell me on Tropico 3? What's the game about?

It's sim city in the caribbean as a dictator. There are political factions to appease, goods and raw materials to export on the barge to support your economy, and hovels to turn into mansions.

There are a lot of different scenarios that so far (I'm through the first 5 or so scenarios) you have a focus. First one was exporting raw goods - lumber, etc. Second one was manufactured goods - furniture, jewelry, etc. Third one is turning your island into a tourist trap - setting up hotels and attractions to bring in the people.

It has a LOT of structures and you have a pretty blank palette to work with. Even though you have goals you can approach them in different ways.

It's really addictive and the time will slip away while playing it.

That's the whole draw of it.
You see if you get a seizure, if you don't you can rest easy knowing you never will.

Try this : go to the game options and set intensity to 200 and set it to fullscreen and lower the blinds+shut off the lights.

Try not to swallow your tongue.

Oh for FUCKS sake I forgot to buy AvP on GetGaming. Anyone have a key that I could buy off of them? :/
Shit, I didn't know it would go up in price today. My damn card wouldn't work all of yesterday.

Heads up for adventure gamers, Ceville is pretty awesome in the tradition of Lucas Arts. I recommend it at $3.39.
I thought the graphics looked silly, but reading the description of it (Shrek + Discworld humor?) I'm interested. Thanks!

This is actually a really dumb/dangerous suggestion considering some people may not be aware they can have photosensitive seizures until something like that triggers it.

Do this and Civ 5 scratch the same itch? Still haven't played that, but I will soon.

I'm always interested in stats, so I just discovered that Wikipedia has some interesting graphs. If you click on "View History" of an article, then on "Page view statistics" you get this:

l3nouy.jpg

These are the last 30 days of the Limbo article. You can see precisely where the PS3 and PC versions were released, and how much the article views jumped up from previous averages.

And here's last year's July. Release of 360 version.

GreenmanGaming still has it discounted a bit... But yeah that's pretty shit. I thought like oh, meh, registering, will do in a bit. 3 euros was a PERFECT PRICE to just bite and get it

edit: FUCK YOU GREENMANGAMING UPPED THE PRICE AS WELL HOLY NUTBALLS WHY. Come on can't I catch a break!

also why doesn't the SUNNY-SAVER-20PEC work with From Dust?

Exactly. For any semi-high-budget title, even if it's kinda shit, I figured for a little under $4 I could at least try it out. Whatever, it's not like I don't have 60 other backlogged games to play! :lol

I guess it's fate telling us no.

I don't get it either. It's weird. It says it doesn't work with already discounted/special offer items, yet Red Orchestra 2 is a special offer..

Um, I just want to let people know that you can now access steam chat from

imo.im

Which is pretty fucking amazing for me because previously I couldn't talk to any of my steam friends at work.

Sorry if this is old news.
Thats pretty cool. Wonder if they can make some more applications with it since this is pretty cool! Mobile phone steam chatting?

I watched my wife play the through the first half of the game and it looked like a lot of fun. She enjoyed it. I have it on my own Steam account but haven't got around to playing it yet.

If you enjoyed games like Loom, Monkey Island, Full Throttle, King's Quest, etc.. you will probably like it.

By the way, how is Grand Ages: Rome?
I don't have alot to compare with but it's a pretty good game with a fun multiplayer building mode. Good music to build along with plus it looks pretty great as well.

Well, since I was able to order something from Amazon, it's not my card. My bank keeps rejecting orders from overseas. GreenManGaming and GetGames both are in Europe. I'm so frustrated.

People on the fence should get Alpha Protocol. It's really a great game, despite being a bit unpolished.
The story, pacing and interactions are really up there and make you forget the stiff gameplay. It's suspension of disbelief at its finest.
Despite the espionage/military setting being everywhere these days, it's rare in RPGSs and it works wonders.

I finished my first playthrough yesterday and started the second one right after. And that is something I never do.
My new Veteran character with his lumberjack beard + reflective glasses + swamp hat is so awesome.

I know, hence 'try not to swallow your tongue'.
I play like that though ,it's not much different than the strobe light in any random club.

Anyone who has a history of seizures in the family really shouldn't be playing this game to begin with ,as the game itself makes very clear at the start.

That being said, very few people actually have epilepsy.
My half brother's father had it (had, he died from cancer years ago) quite severely, I remember my mother having to roll him on his side right after a seizure (which in itself is quite a disturbing sight, such violent shaking) because of the tongue thing.

He developed it right after a bad fall out of a tree as a child.
Some jackass doctor also put my half brother on epilepsy meds for several years because he somehow thought my brother had it too (hereditary or so he assumed).
Years later other doctors say he doesn't have it and should go off the meds, poor kid wasn't allowed to watch much tv or go play by himself for nothing.

Random story, I know:p

ANYHOW 200 percent intensity GOGOGO
