Something appears wrong. I'm listed as your friend on your profile page but you're not on my list.

Steam servers messed up?

RetroGreg added fine into my list. He appears offline though. Did you check your offline contacts?

I'm at work. Maybe because I don't have Steam installed here? I'm sure it will be fine once I get home and log in. It'll be about an hour and a half from now.

Anyone interested in splitting on Frozen Synapse? Looks like you get 2 copies for the $12.50.

I'll host. $6.25 if you are interested.

EDIT: Taken pending payment

How is that possible? I haven't payed yet. oO

Need to add a new card to paypal, I'll transfer in a bit.

I believe he meant to say that everyone else has paid. The game doesn't release until September, I think I can wait until he gets home for the key.

Money sent. If you guys run away with it I'll find out where you live and steal or dogs!

:p

*edit* Actually scratch that. Paypal isn't accepting my card from some reason.

I'll let you know if I can fix it but You guys might have to remove me from the list :/

Can anyone recommend me some cheap turn-based or low-attention requiring games on Steam? Like Dungeons of Dreadmor or Faerie Solitaire? I'm going to be working late for a bit and these keep me sane.

Runespell
Syberia
Bookworm Adventures Deluxe

I don't understand why this is happening. I've been able to buy stuff from steam using paypal many times. But for some reason it's not letting me transfer money using the same credit card or a new one...

Any other way I send money to my paypal account?

One note about Paypal; your account has a ~$2000-2500 or so cap on it from credit cards. After you hit that cap you need to add a debit / bank card and pay from that. This happened to me because I paid web hosting fees through my Paypal account for a few years and had a dedicated server colo'd. Not sure if that's true for non-North American accounts or even still true for those, but it's something I ran into. Could be the case?

Try adding a bank account?

Stupid me. Turns out I have some money captive from an earlier failed transaction.

I'll try to sort this. I'm still in but if you guys manage to find someone else i won't mind.

*edit*

Yay! Problem solved, money sent!

Brink is $30 at Target for those who didn't buy it during the QuakeCon sale.

And LA Noire to PC? Everyone totally wanted that game over RDR.

[edit] Civ V GotY? The base game is $50 and with all the DLC it's another $50. So are they going to do a $20 base game price drop and have the $50 for the GOTY edition?

lul wut?

Not really, development of RDR was a mess, supposedly going back to the code even to port the game would be a nightmare, its roughly patched up.

I still think its coming, though, once they're done with all the DLC on the consoles. GOTY edition with all the content for PC, believe.
I don't know what's more unbelievable: The fact that you believe RDR is coming on PC eventually or the fact that you think more DLC will be made available for the console version.

There is some on the way. It's free.

Tried the From Dust demo on 360. Surprisingly good stuff. Will most likely get it on Steam next week now.

Kind of surprised at those specs, but hey, I got the hardware for it.

Does anyone else have any opinions on Mata Hari or Ceville?
Mata Hari is pretty, has a somewhat interesting premise, but is ultimately dreadfully boring. I don't remember many of the puzzles, but I think they were largely logical. There's an awful dancing mini-game that you have to do a few times, and a stupid stealth section whose execution was idiotic. The rest is just - bland. Pretty, but bland.

Ceville thinks it's a lot funnier than it is, like the protagonist it's named after, but it's not 'quite' as cliched as you would expect a fairy tale kingdom parody to be. The alpine hippie druids (aka the Swiss) were pretty neat. The puzzles are on the quirkier side, as you might imagine from looking at it, but they are logical as far as I can remember. Every time I got stuck it was because I overlooked an item, rather than being stumped. I played it in German, so I don't know what the localization is like. It also has some technical problems on Win 7 (or the 64 bit version specifically, not sure), but it's nothing game breaking. Videos won't play, crashing upon loading a video, that sort of thing. Annoying, but again, not game breaking, as it auto saves quite often.

Thanks. I downloaded the Ceville demo so maybe I'll go from that. I have Win-7 64-bit home premium. :/

Tropico 4 Demo looks worse than the 3rd game

the textures are terribad up close, between other issues

wonder if its just the demo :/

How are the Broken Sword games? I'm looking at the triple pack...

The first two are awesome point & Clicks. The third was a 3D adventure game that wasn't so good. Well worth buying, I bought them to replace my disc copies.

It's very and very good. One of the best point'n'click adventures to me. It has both interesting story and puzzling gameplay. So yes, I recommend you to buy it, if you love adventure quests.

Still thinking about getting Tropico 3. I've never really played a city builder game, outside of Civ II years and years ago.

I stopped playing through the PS3 version of L.A. Noire, which I was extremely late in playing, when the PC version was announced. I've played through Red Dead Redemption and I would honestly rather re-buy L.A. Noire over RDR. Personally I thought Red Dead falls apart after the first third (after the epic wagon set piece) and ping pongs you all across the overworld to these random characters and meanders in what seems to be typical Rockstar fashion for the last two thirds of the game. The end segment of RDR with its false ending and Rockstar's take on Harvest Moon was aggravating and boring. L.A. Noire is far from perfect, it's got some interesting ideas that aren't always executed well but I like what it's driving towards. It's not just another mindless shooter, I like that dialogue and the investigations, as canned or limited as they can be, are the primary play mechanics. I like the fact that it's essentially a structured, linear action game that just happens to have an open world for car and foot chases or gun fights to happen in. It's kind of like Mafia II in that regard. I love the idealised 50's setting and honestly kept wishing for a PC release so I could have a more stable frame rate, better anti-aliasing and textures, a greater draw distance...provided Rockstar doesn't fuck the port up like GTA4.

If the port is great, I'll buy L.A. Noire again.

I stopped playing LA Noire at the arsony desk, haven't touched it for some time. It's not really bad, but sort of boring and pointless at times. Meh.

barf

and you'll be zooming in the game a lot, since its required for a lot of micromanagement.

Then again, very few of the other buildings (i think just the houses actually) have good looking textures:

so yeah.. no idea
