A game having a retail entry doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be steamwokrs, just that there are mechanisms in place to make the game registrable on Steam.

Think Dirt 3, which had that AMD promotion where a lot of people got Steam registrable Dirt 3 keys.

Or Tropico 4, which isn't steamworks, but GMG version will apparently require Steam to play. Come to think about it, a lot of non steamworks games on GMG seem to require Steam to play, such as the older Total War games, Alpha protocol or the already mentioned Tropico 4. It would seem these games really are selling better with steam integration, I really see no other reason why they would opt for those versions otherwise when it's obviously not needed.

Anyway, if it wasn't officially confirmed, or the store page doesn't say it, then my advice is to wait until release date to get confirmation before buying.

Why would he port the ipad version rather than just using the native PC version he built initially? Can you link to where you are seeing that info?

That was just a misunderstanding on The_Player, I shouldn't have even quoted that section of the post, he wasn't aware it was a Mac/PC series (i think) or that there was a demo out for that matter! It'll definitely just be the PC version.

Ah, I just now saw the earlier conversation on this as well a few posts up. My bad! Great news though, I hope it really brings a new level of publicity to his games if he gets a weekend sale or something.

Mafia II is $7.49 on GamersGate right now. It's Steamworks. Although not without its faults, I still had an excellent time with it. Enjoyed the characters, city, story. I especially loved driving around at night to Eddie Cochren, Richie Valens, and other '50s artists. In my pink car. Which was pretty fucking rad, actually.

Just, you know, for all eight of you who had an interest in this but passed it up the thousand other times it's been sub-$10.

Thanks for this - I got it for free thanks to my loyalty points, or whatever they're called.

Kept meaning to pick this up :)

Looks like you cannot buy The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Steam if you live in the UK :(

This also happened with Brink a few months ago, I feel that Zenimax as bound by retailers to limit online sale's of there games :|

That sucks. Was going to buy it retail anyway, but still. :/

As part of the Kalypso Sale, you have Crash Time 3 with a 66% discount.

Its not a great game, but its interesting for example because it support split screen racing.

And it works great with two screens.

First Screen is from CTIV (not in steam), the second one is from CTIII

Is this the full game of Aion? For someone who isn't heavily into MMOs, but does enjoy the occasional grind, is this game worth it? Even for just a month?

Hmm, what is this Crash Time?

Those and the Steam screenshots look kind of amazing.. hmm. For $3.39 I might bite.

Anyone else getting this message when trying to install a game?

"No steam content server are currently configured to deliver content for this game. This will be corrected soon. Please try again in a few mintues."

Glad Im not the only one...I tried deleting clientregistry.blob as well as changing data server locations...no luck.

Oh well...hoepfully it will be fixed soon.

So, this page is all messed up: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2327/

Package deal of Darkstar One, Patrician III, and The Great Art Race. If you search The Great Art race in the store, you can't find a price. If you look in the package breakdown, it says $59.99 which clearly isn't right. Then it lists Patrician III with 66% off and it's $1.69. Darkstar One in the breakdown says $9.99. Then somehow, the grand total for all three is $3.39.

I just wrapped up a second playthrough of Limbo on Steam and I can't recommend it enough.

The Good:
-The art. The art style of the game is simple, but absolutely stunning. The use of black/white is masterful and the atmosphere created by the visuals is thick. The protagonist animates beautifully as do aspects of the environment. A lot of care was put into how this game looks and it paid off.

-The sound. The sound is understated and it's a lot of ambiance, but it matches up perfectly with the visuals. All the sounds effects related to deaths are sickeningly satisfying.

-The gameplay. The game is a mix of puzzles and platforming and strikes a pleasant balance between the two. Limbo usually mixes the two together in a brutal fashion that leads to player death a lot of the time when first encountering a new area. While this is usually a turn off in games, it's just part of the visual spectacle here. You learn from your deaths and the game is careful to sprinkle checkpoints through out so it never becomes repetitious or frustrating. The gameplay twists added through out the game work well and never overstay their welcome.

-Minimalist story. The game doesn't need any pretentious writing so it doesn't bother with any.

The Bad:
-The new bonus area can go fuck itself. Whoever designed it failed to understand the appeal of the core gameplay. I won't say anymore so as not to spoil it, but prepare yourself to be frustrated.

-Some of the puzzles don't feel super intuitive. There are a couple that are based around timing and the timing can be a bit frustrating. There are also one or two where it's just really easy to miss something you need in the environment to continue on.

Those flaws are pretty minor though. Limbo is a fantastic, beautiful, and rewarding experience. It's easily worth the 10$ price.

Kind of related but Steam Support responded to my request yesterday and said that they are aware of the Limbo icon problem in Grid view and are investigating the issue further. :D

What the hell is going on? I opened up steam and like 5 games started a fresh install, even though they were already installed. After some tweaking only half of New Vegas needs to be downloaded again, though I have no idea what it's actually downloading since the entire install is already on my HDD. Torchlight is not installed and just gone from my computer so I actually need to redownload that.

I don't feel like plunking down $60 on the full Kalypso pack, but there are a couple games I'm interested in. Does anyone know if Dungeons or Patrician IV are any good?

I was curious about Patrician IV also and this is what I was told:

Patrician is an addictive trading sim that's let down by its poor interface. One of this iteration's big features is the auto trading interface, where trade routes can just be a list of which goods to trade in which towns and the AI figures out when to buy and sell. But there's so little feedback that you can't tell if you would be better off micromanaging. That sort of thing is all over.

But like I said, it's addictive. You start out with a single ship doing the whole buy low sell high thing. Then you get more ships and set up automatic trading routes. Then you start building homes and businesses in towns. Then you start running for political office. Then you're making major decisions that affect the whole region. The way the focus keeps expanding while staying grounded in trading means you can lose hours at a time doing the proverbial one more thing.

I'm going to pick up the DLC this weekend but since I haven't tried it yet I can't comment on it.

I don't know, this has happened two times to me recently. The other day Saints Row 2 just suddenly had to redownload about 33% of it again even though I'd been playing it the night before with no problems. Also messed up my mods, Steam is still very bandwidth-cap unfriendly.

Great, time to spend another hour getting New Vegas mods working...

This happened to me a few days ago with Fallout, Stalker and Mass Effect. I was using the new Steam beta client so maybe that's related.

Is there any reason I cant use a moneybookers account to buy games in the US? Looking at this page it says that we can t use a webmoney account from the US but says nothing about moneybookers not being allowed.

When I try to buy a game the only payment options are

visa
mastercard
american express
discover
jcb
paypal
clickandbuy

Maybe not. Saints Row 2 was never designed to be modded so the mods don't really play that well with it, FONV obviously was so hopefully your mods will still be there!

And I am not in the Steam Beta and have not been for months so that had nothing to do with why it happened to me.

Never even heard of moneybookers. I think it's implied what isn't allowed by the list you just mentioned. If it's one of the listed, it's allowed. Everything else isn't.

If you're having that much issue finding a funding source, just buy a Visa gift card from Walmart/Target/etc and use that.
