D'you have AMD instead of CPU? Anyway, in the install directory, there should be a file called DeusEx.ini. Open this file and there will be a line that reads: GameSpeed=1.0000. Try to play with it till you find the best number. Many users on the forums says that with 0.5000 the game plays at normal speed.
What do you mean by the first question?

I have been messing with that file and the number of CPU's when I right click on it under processes. It has CPU 0 selected by default. I currently have the game speed at 5k and it still runs the same.

It was a joke.

Try to run the game with -cpuspeed=1800 or something that works good with your CPU.

Is that in the .ini file because it isn't showing up using the find window? Nor is "cpu" for that matter.

EDIT: erm, advance launch options?

Make a shortcut for DeusEx.exe, right click the shortcut and click Properties, where it says Target e.g (C:\DeusEx\System\DeusEx.exe) change it to C:\DeusEx\System\DeusEx.exe -cpuspeed=1800.
Or if you're using steam version then right click at the game in library, Properites, Set Launch Options, add cpuspeed=1800 to this field.

Make sure mouse acceleration is off. I seem to recall that causing similar issues for me.

Say, what your specs? If you're using AMD try to find AMD Dualcore Optimizer, it could help you.

How do I go about turning that off? I'm not familiar with using it.

Are TF2 items retro-active? Aka I already bought Brink, do I get the hat?

Judging by what happened with Plants vs Zombies, you'll get the hat, and it will probably be "genuine" as opposed to a standard one. Assuming its a brink promo and not for something else.

Sorry mate, I'm out of solutions.
Seems to be working now that I installed the Deus Ex launcher. Disabled Mouse acceleration from there and it is now running at a playable speed.

Great to hear! Now, enjoy one of the best games ever created.

Solution: Buy more games!
Mr. Newell, you forgot to relogin.

Oh shit Quake 4 is gonna be released on steam? Totally getting, fuck the haters, it's not actually a bad game. Also, hoping for Morrowind
..and ET:QW...and Wolfenstein...and Brink...and Hunted..and Rogue Warrior..oh dear

Heeeeey Joe, where you goin' ... with those games in your hand???

Save some for the rest of us :P

I wish the closed beta for Red Orchestra 2 was available now. I really need a good multiplayer shooter right now, Brink likely isn't worth re-installing for its DLC and I don't think I want to go back to Item Fortress 2.

ermm, I'm having another problem. there is a little white cross sort of towards the upper left section of the screen. I don't thank that is supposed to be there. how do I remove it? ~_~

EDIT: reloaded my game and it is gone, nvm

thanks btw

That Steam survey software sucks . . . they need to give you feedback to let you know it is not hanging. It just goes into zombie mode for like 4 minutes.

I sort of want to do something a little different with my Steam avatar, but i'm having trouble coming up with anything interesting. I like Protoman being the premise, but I want a touch of originality added to it so i'm not the 10,000th guy with a megaman avatar. So, if anybody is bored and would like to come up with something, feel free to use this template. No guarantees i'll use anything, but maybe someone would like to take a stab at it?

Wait, the Bethesda stuff already in sale due to Quakecon? I cant access Steam right now since I'm in work.

Quick Question:

If I were to pre-order Deus Ex: HR Augmented Edition on Steam, will I get the extra content before the release date or on the date of release?

Thanks! :D

Alright, I have a question about bandwidth caps. I've been downloading A LOT of games through Steam lately (as well as other sites), and was wondering if bandwidth caps only include data that is downloaded and uploaded, or if it also includes things such as visiting websites and playing online games.

Visiting websites and playing online games is downloading and uploading data. Can't you check your usage?

I can but I lost all of my account info (and the "Question" it asks me to receive it: My favorite food? I have no clue what I put down) and won't be able to call customer service until tomorrow, so I was just curious.

Is 200 GB a lot or are there unlimited (and reasonable) plans out there? I'm about to download a couple of 10 GB games through Steam and that right there would be a huge dent right at the beginning of the month.

Depends on your usage and what you do. I can easily rip through double that in a month. With a fast connection that's even easier.

I've been at my dad's for maybe...3 weeks? I've already blown through 116gb up/down on a 350KB/s connection. At my apartment I have a 2MB/s connection

I could never use 200 GB in a month personally, but as I'm in Australia we don't have the abundance of streaming services (netflix etc) that would chew through that amount of data easily.

Is Europa Universalis III turn based like Civilization? I played the HoI demo but couldn't get into it because everything seemed to move too quickly, especially for a game as complex as that one.

You'd get Deus Ex GOTY edition at time of pre-order, and the Augmented Edition content when you install the game itself.

It isn't turn-based, but its pace is usually considered to be slow.

Alot of people will say the older engine games are alot more complex and confusing but it is better with EU3 and other games on that engine. So, with that you'd want to try demos for EU3 (which has a 'tutorial', which is mostly just a slideshow of what to do) or Victoria II (not on Steam, has a proper tutorial though). Basically, you want to avoid EU1-2, Victoria I, Hearts of Iron I-II and Crusader Kings because the interface might (as most say) be too esoteric for most.

That being said though, HOI3, Vicky2, EU3 and EU Rome (and soon CK2, Sengoku, etc.) all run on pretty much the same engine, their interfaces are a bit different and they all simulate different things so it's hard to say. Victoria II has a real working tutorial in the demo you might want to try and see if you like it, but almost none of that knowledge is transferable (except general interface use and maybe army control) if you want to play EU3 because of the different simulations going on.

I caved and bought it. Less than $4 and if I hate it... well I've wasted more than $4 before (hell, this week). And I still need to buy FFT and the QuakeCon sale is tomorrow... I THOUGHT I WAS DONE.

Damn you all, since I discovered steam I've bought too many games that I don't have time to play, Civ 5, EU3, X3, ...

When I get home I'll buy Machinarium.
