Castle crashers as a single player game is completely useless I assume?

I just played it for about an hour, and it does seem like it's a game meant to be enjoyed with friends in co-op. (crowd control / getting mobbed seems to be a bit of an issue when solo)

I figured that might be the case, but I picked up the bundle anyway, just in case friends wanna play it at some point.

99% sure it is region locked to US.
