Actually, I'm in a "Head of billion dollar development/publishing company says VR is dead" thread saying "the same old arguments will be used to defend VR as it fails to take off for the nth year in a row".
I'll see everyone in 2021's version of this thread, where we'll rehash the same argument. I'm sure things will be different then, right?
Right.
Okay, so let me just lay out the facts here.
VR is dead faction:
Head of ~4,5 billion dollar company says VR is dead, whom you instantly believe, because obviously he is the CEO of a wealthy company so he must have some knowledge!
VR is not dead faction:
Valve, 10 billion dollar company heavily invests in VR, helped make the HTC Vive, made its own VR headset the Index that is so high in demand that it's constantly out of stock, creates one if not the best VR game to date, helps other companies like HP with lenses so their VR headsets are even better.
HP, 33 billion dollar company creates the Reverb G2 that also has private customers in mind because they did not expect the interest outside of business partners with the G1.
Facebook, 750+ billion dollar company heavily invests into VR because it can use this to get even more data to sell out of its users but heavily pushes entry level devices that benefit low-budget gamers to get a very good experience.
Yeah, you're right. Those 3 very profitable and noteworthy companies must be all wrong here.
I think I can fix your 4-Step plan.
1. Post "VR is dead LOL" in a VR thread.
2. Get confronted that you talk bullshit.
3. Say "it's obvious lol!"
4. Add nothing to the narrative and make a fool out of yourself.
So congratulations! You successfully reached Stage 4 of your master plan! Hooray!
