Just finished Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem. When you finish the game the black suit is unlocked, and it actually change your moveset. It's pretty cool.

Game is really fun. I think it's the best Gameloft game because it allowed them to focus on their strenghts: graphics and gameplay. They should be doing more licenced games because that way they don't have to worry about creating original stuff (which they suck at), it's all laid out for them, for the most part anyway.

Price may be a bit steep for some people (6.99), but it was well worth it to me. It's short on content (about 4 hours) but there's some replayability with a new costume, better scores, getting all artworks and photos, etc. Besides, it's a fun game to play.

Maybe I will check Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions...

Have you tried Star Battalion from Gameloft? I think I will buy spider-man for the iphone.

or Record Label Story

or Film Studio Story

or well yeah you get me... that or re-releases of old-school Theme Hospital or RCT etc.

GADDAM GIRL, the lite version of Game Dev Story is essentially an electric subconscious brainwashing torture device that forces you to spend 3.99... and you wouldn't have it any other way....

It's on my list, but I'm waiting for a price drop.

I think they just released the game (Spider-Man) for the iPad too.

Anyone else having no sound in Nova?
I upgraded to iphone4 and now the sound works only sometimes in this game. I tried a hard reset but no luck. My old phone seemed to play it fine.

I really shouldnt buy games over 100mb, i've had The Settlers, Monkey Island, GT Racing, Madden 11 and Nova for ages and i havent installed any of them yet because i'd have to delete too much stuff.

GT Racing is over 1Gb :O

I'm having a lot of fun with cubed rally racer, is there anything else similar on the AppStore? It's a lot like rock n roll racing for the Snes, with levels randomly generated. It's pretty sweet

For those looking for a fun classic checkers game, check out Frog Checkers from Code Critical. It was just released today. My kids absolutely love it and the hardest difficulty level kicked my ass. For $.99, it is a great twist on traditioal checkers.

I've never bothered to hide my disdain for Galaxy on Fire.
I'm not 4 hours into the sequel, GoFII, and it's provided way, way, way more content and gameplay than the 16 or so hours I put into that bullshit tech demo that is called GoF.

If you've been waiting for something comparable to the old Privateer games, and a halfway decent effort as well, then GoFII is definitely something to consider!

Anyone figure out how to complete a "stolen goods" style mission in Galaxy on Fire 2?
I've gone to every station in the system I'm supposed to be searching, hit up every shop and lounge, and... nothing. :/

Figured it out.
It can be easy to overlook, but a regular store in a station within the system you're supposed to be looking for will indeed carry a "secret file" or "data file" in their commodities section. Price is usually around $1K and change, and there'll only ever be one of them to purchase. Buy it and take it back to the station where you got the mission and you're set.

I've done 3 of 'em already. Kind of a slow way to make money, but at least it gives you plenty of opportunity to mine!

For a Finer World
An iPhone MMORPG from Finland has gone into open beta (you need a Finnish AppStore Account to get it, I think): http://www.shadowcities.com/

It's basically a game built around real world locations (mainly city districts & parks) which can be conquered and harvested for energy for your global faction (Tech Mages vs Hippies, basically). Of course you battle PvE (spirits you can kill for experience) and PvP (drain opponent mana to prevent them from casting spells).

Although you can travel in the game world, your physical presence at the location (or a friendly beacon) is required to conquer it.

Mana is the currency in the game - it regenerates quite fast, but of course a few bought mana potions don't hurt...

Spellcasting is done with gestures - I was skeptical but it actually works really well.

Here's a good (but long) blog entry about the game mechanics: http://samuli.hakoniemi.net/how-to-get-started-with-shadow-cities/

We are playing with a bunch of friends and it's amazing how hooked you get.

When the going got tough and we needed to conquer a location, my friend actually drove around looking for enemy Dominators around a node. It's that addictive.

As a disclaimer, I am Finnish and I have met the game makers, but I am in no way affiliated with this project (unfortunately as this has the potential to be a bit hit, I think).

Shadow cities looks cool but I can't play games like that on my 2g touch :(

Space miner blast is rather entertaining, a very nice remix of asteroids which works really well, rather cool that the base of the game is free too.

Will jubeat for the iPad have the same songs as the arcade one? I really love that game :p

the free version comes with 3 tunes, and there are 450 yen song packs...whenever i've played it in the arcade there have been japanese songs that i've recognised (capsule etc) but i don't know anything that i've seen in this version so far.

Uhm I just got it. Really liking the game and the three songs that come with it are nice. The song packs are a bit expensive for songs that I don't even know how they sound, so I guess I will go around youtube checking them and see if I like any.

But after so long without playing it, and now without physical buttons.. I really suck. My best on Basic is a B for the William Tell song, the other two on C. And a D for WT on Advanced.. yuck!.

Replaying Doom Resurrection on the most difficult mode as I wait for Mutant Bash TV, forgot how good this game was. Though I'm not sure if I'd say it's worth the full price. MUCH better decision to price Mutant Bash TV at $0.99/$1.99. But I have a feeling Mutant Bash TV is gonna be my absolute favorite game for a long time.

Tried Rimelands a bit, looks great but not my thing (not into the whole turn-based dice-throwing combat and while the 3D visuals are nice, they definitely lack any 'wow'-factor for me).

Also been playing Samurai II a bit more and damn that game is pretty good. But my current favorite is still Nanosaur 2, super-smooth, really intuitive, great 3D graphics, great soundtrack and environments... Just a lot of fun. Really looking forward to doing some multiplayer race and battle with it too.

yeah it's a pretty difficult game at first, but i love the way it makes you feel damn near psychic when you've got a chain going.

I guess that Shadow Cities isn't on all stores. Can't find it in the Portuguese one.

Edit:

Shadow Cities is a location based MMORPG which was just released for iPhone and is currently in beta stage (available only in Finland).

Mkay :(

I was checking the jubeat store and damn.. most of the songs are horrible :lol

Only ones I like are..

Music Pack 01
天国と地獄
天体観测

Music Pack 02
bass2bass
夏祭り (got addicted to it because of Taiko no Tatsujin :lol)

Music Pack 03
情熱大 (Though they use this one for some program -forgot wich- and now it feels kinda odd)

That's 4 songs out of 12 from the 3 packs, and paying 1350 Yen for just 4 songs... eh..

This is one of the very few times I would love to jailbreak my ipad and mess around with this app and add songs. Otherwise the app quality is great. I wonder if there's something similar to this but with more songs.. Or maybe some jailbreak one where we could add our own songs ala stepmania but for jubeat on the ipad :_)

There's a pretty neat Space Invaders clone with cool animation and a good sense of humor, called Radiant, free today.

Not sure if EA MMA is still $1 buck, but I've put enough time into it now to declare it is easily my favourite fighter on the iPhone. Better than Super KO Boxing or Touch KO or Bruce Lee or Street Fighter or Karate Champ. If you want to quickly beat the snot out of someone for instant gratification, this is the game.

What's the consensus on Pix'n Love Rush? It looks aesthetically interesting.
Love it. If you like score attack games snag it up. It's one of the few games with touch controls as a platformer that I don't have any complaints about. The initial mode is 5 minutes...and trying for a higher score again and again is great. It's got a lot of charm, and the music is awesome, trying to keep it at it's highest level is a bit of a challenge too.

I've done a few more.
The file's actually called 'documents' and doesn't necessarily show up at the very top of the commodities list. Depends on what else is on offer, actually. I still have only ever seen one per mission, and they do run about $1.6K a pop.

Thanks for the heads up on this one, it is a cool little shooter. It starts out WAY too slow, but gets hella fun about midway through. A nice mix of Space Invaders, Asteroids, and Gradius.

As for the guy asking about Pix'n Love Rush, it's sort of a mixed bag. It's hard to get used to the controls. If you're patient enough, you'll get the hang out of it and have fun. It's a HARD game.

Free updates with free new content rock. I was worried that consoles had killed them off.

Challenged in Arcade mode?

That only really seems usefull if there is an online mode.

Is there an online mode that I completely missed?

"The new gameplay systems include an Arcade Wait-style mode. Turn this on, and nearby players will be able to challenge you to a fight while you're engaged in single player sessions."

Sounds like Bluetooth or WiFi.

Meh. I don't think that will ever happen. If I have a friend nearby who wants to play, well, we're just going to start up a new game. I hope it's at least a hint that online multiplayer is coming in a future update.

Hell, I'd just pay $20 at this point for SSF4 in my hands.

Why doesn't Plants vs Zombies iPhone have Endless mode? Why?!?!? That's the replay value mode.

What is the quickplay anyways? Is it just replaying the adventure levels?

SF4 iphone has turned out really well, it's always in the top 100 on the UK marketplace and all this extra content being added, so nice.

There's no purchased games list in iTunes is there? It's kind of annoying that I have to remember which games I've purchased and then hit buy and hope to god I get the "you have already purchased this app" message. Would also be nice to see which games I've purchased are universal for iPad.
