Define real job.
I'm sure you started using PayPal at 14 and had people scam you with fake donations, right?
Except during the Superbowl there would be popups every time someone bought a new lexus and the players would stop the game to thank them. When individuals advertize they are demonized, but when corporations do it, spending millions to do it likely, it's viewed as acceptable and a part of business. People tune in for ads during the super bowl, and all it is, is a company trying to get your money.
With one, a person is just trying to get by, with another, the one percent are becoming richer (obviously not always the case, but still).
I have no problem with it. If one doesn't like it, they can watch somebody else.
Why would you be for making the laws less consumer friendly?
If you wish to make a living from twitch streaming, then treat it as a job and make sure you don't touch any money until a year has passed.
In my line of work we have an excellent benefit package. Health coverage, dental, eyewear etc. What sort of package would sitting on my ass all day in my bedroom playing video games hoping for random donations from strangers get me? If the options there are better, I'll start streaming "full time".
Honestly, it feels more about luck than anything else. Either you've done something that is of notable worth to the majority(espwats) or something else out of your hands assisted you.

No, charge backs are fine, doing so after 50 days is bullshit.
30 days max.
If you don't have skills (and aren't a LoL girl), then you have to have charisma*
*yelling, memes, being funny to people somehow, and good at making people feel a part of something.
A place where you show up, do a few chores and are almost nearly guaranteed (nearly because some places can screw you over) money every 2 weeks by law if you worked the hours.
One that doesn't rely on donations, probably
You need a steady income, otherwise it's just a charity
I think I've seen camgirls do that.
Errr, I mean a friend told me that cam girls do that
Who the hell would donate to watch someone play games? 2014 is a weird place.
They don't actually owe anything though.Paypal will take out whatever is in the balance now, but they can't take the money out of bank accounts or charge credit cards if I recall. At most they'll just lose their accounts. It sucks, but not really a cause worth donating to for me.
I don't even know why but when it come to streamer, youtuber, ect ... people always acting this way. There are some mean ass people in this thread.
I've seen plenty of ways to make a living that probably aren't recognized by the government. Like streaming for instance. Or commissions and freelancing. You know there's actual list of jobs that are recognized by the government of a country, right?
Yea, some streamers do stream full time. 8 hours a day and are able to make a living off of it. Including sponsorships, and even trips to get hands on time with games that are unavailable to the public. Just an example of this would beIn my line of work we have an excellent benefit package. Exactly my point. That's insane. But honestly, just be a general bad ass and kind to people. Success will follow!
Exactly my point.
Working for donations is a dangerous line of work for this exact reason, but it sucks for a 14 yr old kid who didn't understand how it works.
What I don't understand how he had a PayPal account in the first place tho. Good luck collecting the funds PayPal.

Does sending money through Paypal as a gift prevent the money from being taken back? I saw a streamer this morning suggesting people should send money as a gift because it doesn't get taxed, but now I'm wondering if he was just worried about charge-backs.

Why is a 14 year old taking donations online, and using those funds without the supervision of an adult that would know better?
So, some kid used funds from his parents credit cards without consent (probably), and they took their money back.
Paypal's not gonna do anything about it, if the dispute is real.
Streamers learned a lesson about no relying on donations as real income. They should at the least have let that money sit in paypal account for a couple of months before even thinking of using it.
Things like this is why Twitch will probably institute their own donation system soon, and ban outside systems.

If this guy is really 14, I'd tell PayPal to pound sand. He's a minor and not legally responsible for his agreement with PayPal. I'm really surprised that PayPal lets minors have accounts with them. For this same reason, I wouldn't donate to this guy. He'll be able to avoid liability for his debt. For instance, JaccaMacca is a 14 year old from the UK whom had used the money to get a capture device for his 3DS as well as a monitor. Now he has his PayPal account basically closed and owes them $720 he can't possibly have, as he wasn't partnered and this was his only form of income.
Freelancers don't have guaranteed jobs.So freelancers don't have jobs?
Not the easiest. But being nice definitely helps.I was sort of joking. I say this because I know a lot of awesome guys/girls and it's not that easy.
