Uncharted 3: Subway's Deception Multiplayer Discussion [New Patch Released]

Status
Not open for further replies.
Maybe I didn't play the Subway beta long enough but the summer beta feeled better. I'm getting my ass kicked all the time. Offcourse, my skills are not that great, but it gets quite frustrating now, having enjoyed the summer beta a lot. Still gonna buy the game though, because the single player is out of this world.

They won't fix this. I hate it too, and it was present in UC2 just like it is here in UC3, only then it was for the FAL only. Here, it affects the GMAL and Para.

You have to find the point where hitting R1 doesn't slow down the ROF. Mashing the button makes both weapons slow as hell, but if you slow down your presses to a certain point, that's when you can fire off the most rounds.

It's kind of annoying.

I popped in U2 yesterday and messed around in some custom games, now matter how fast you pull the trigger, every gun has its own rate-of-fire.

I was wildly spamming R1 with the FAL and 92fs and they both fire at unwavering rates.

FAL: ...--...--...--...--...
92fs: .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

The Para9 in comparison is anything from:

.-..---..-.-...-...-..--.-.

to

.-.-........--.--..-.....--.

Their MP guys have really screwed up the most basic things so much it's making me believe they did it on purpose.

Anyone else hope for unused uc2 areas for mp maps? Borneo, Trainyard...

And for the record, I'm not trying to troll. I'm just very passionate towards these games and wish they played to my liking.

Finally rage quit today. A lot of people have unlocked the "drop grenade upon death" perk. God I hate it. It screwed me out of a treasure in the last match I played- I killed the guy fair and square, and he dropped the treasure and a live grenade. I was never able to get back to the treasure.

You must learn the ways of the Grenade Throwback.

Sure, you'll still pick up a weapon quite often and get killed, but it is oh so nice to kill somebody with their buddies bullshit booster.

Been AWOL from the MP for a week or so now; the day the Highrise/Ruins maps came out was the last I played. Have there been any other tweaks yet? Any other updates? Fixes? If not, word for when that's coming?

Go on...

I know it's something something about hitting triangle at the "right time". But I haven't figured out the "right time" yet. I don't believe I've successfully picked one back up.

If a grenade lands near you a different Triangle icon will pop up, with a meter on the side, press it when you see this and you'll scoop up the grenade and toss it in whatever direction you're looking.

It takes some practice to get the hang of but once you do, you'll be wanting people to throw grenades at you.

It's very hard for me to get used to it :(

That must be counting the character specific unlockable ones

If that includes power weapons then we have 19 right now. The rest are probably just more character weapons.

Ak-47
Naughty Dog AK
Drake's AK
Navarro's AK
Eddy's AK
G-MAL
Roman's G-MAL
Elena's G-MAL
Flynn's G-MAL
M9
Marlowe's M9
Dragon Sniper
Kal-7
RPG
Hammer
T-bolt
SAS-12
Double barrel shorgun
That big heavy machine gun that I can't remember the name of right now

Grenade Throwback doesn't work very well for revenge grenades. Good chance you'll pick up the gun or treasure instead of the grenade since they all fall within a 2 foot radius. Retarded.

Been playing a few rounds and all I can say is, "Fuck on a stick!"

I dunno, for someone who's been playing games since I was a kid, this game is confusing as hell. Too many icons on screen at once, confusing friendly/enemy skin, so much doodads that clutter the overall game and whatnot.

Add in the fact that I'm color-blind and spotting who are enemies becomes much, much harder.

Still going to try this out...I mean I am getting UC3 for the SP, but I'll give the MP more time to see if I can like it to some degree.

Anyone here who thinks the same or is it just butterflies and rainbows for you guys?

I think the double-downing of uncharted 3s multiplayer was worth it to see MoonsaultSlayer meltdown(s)

Well played ND

(jk dude :P)

^there is a colorblind option. Yes, I agree though. U2's MP was very focused and straightforward.

Where?

Honestly, I don't even know how to quit mid-game! Pausing or pressing select brings other things to the screen.

When somebody kills me, what are those next to their level? Emblems? Perks? Fuck on a stick! The game is sooo confusing!

We were labeled as "villains" but my teammate was Drake and our enemies were a mix of Chloe, that old chick and whatnot. What the hell? Seriously? Is the UC3 MP just for UC2 vets or something?

I honestly cannot understand where they're coming from or where they want to go with this. Is it something to combat CoD, BF or Gears of War? It's a twitch shooter but it takes a lot of bullets to kill someone?!

Sorry if I sound like I'm bitching, but when a videogame nerd (me) is getting confused with all the icons, whatnot on the screen...chances are it's cluttered for the layperson who just wants to sit back and play some multiplayer.

Why play this beta ? Play the final version.

Played a match with the AK47, I don't know if I'm used to the recoil or whatever but it seems it's a perfectly viable option now.

Yeah I dunno I picked one up the other day and it seemed alot better, although maybe its just me getting used to the game.

After reading other peoples' posts about this, I was thinking of doing the same. Besides recoil, anything else worth noting?

Gonna try in a bit. The Giants game isn't quite grabbing me.

I'm using the accuracy mod btw. I'm trying to find differences between it and the M9. I think the AK has more autoaim on blindfire, I'm not sure yet.

Were you playing Three team deathmatch? I think they just use your chosen free for all character in it.

My biggest issue with U3 MP has to be the maps. There is no sense of direction, I don't know where to look for enemies. Treat me like I'm five years old and tell me which areas are safe and which areas are not.

Also, the recoil feels...random. I feel like I can't compensate for the recoil because I don't know where to point my joystick. In my head I don't think that I will be able to get use my favorite gun to a point where I can say I have 'mastered' it. I won't be able to predict what it is going to do next, is what I'm trying to say. I understand that recoil is like that IRL, but in a game? Firing that M9 for the first couple of seconds feels like a rabid pit bull on a short leash, I can't handle nor direct it to where I want it to go.

The blind fire also feels inconsistent, one kill it can be very accurate and another I'll get 2 hit markers when I should get 5. But I guess that is what you get when you have a P2P network?

Yeah, I'm hardly playing the multiplayer because of that to be honest. I like things that are simple in multiplayer games. It tends to become a clusterfuck when they add loads of things and balance goes out the window as well. I wasn't happy when they added sprint, weapon mods, better weapons at higher levels etc. I'm sure people like all that stuff but I loved the way it was in the U2 beta multiplayer. It was simple, I knew what to do. I just had to remember where the power weapons were and it was fun. I'm getting UC3 because of SP too, I'll play the multiplayer too but I'm not going to take it very seriously, just mess around in it or something lol.

Wow the AK really does have low recoil.

But isn't powerful. Witnessed some crazy lag. Quite humorous too. Stealth kill in mid air, watched a guy freeze in front of me and took twice the number of shots to kill. Got a treasure out of it. Must have been loading the trinket haha.

i'm saying games like enslaved needs to be less than 60 dollars if they want to offer only short single player story. and if they do want to charge 60 dollars, then add something i consider worthwhile to buy it for that price. (i.e.. multiplayer, co-op mode, more characters to play, free future contents, etc.) multiplayer for enslaved can be the robots control by players fighting against monkey(another player) or just add guns to the game and call it a team deathmatch. many possibility, the sky is the limit son!!!

i know dark souls has online interaction, but it's not true multiplayer. if it's anything like demon soul, then i'm pretty sure you're on your own most of the times with little message here and there..

Only retards bought Enslaved full price, wait 3-4 months and price dropped!

Also it sounds like you should plan an MMO if you want maximum hours for your money. Or Lol, Guild Wars

The only map I've been having issues with is Highrise. I've played it several times and I still get lost on certain parts of the map. I'm sure I'll figure things out as time progresses.

Something strange happened to me today, was on a stage for a couple of seconds on cabins moving and got kicked out of the game! Which stage was it?

they've just changed the AK-47? Sorry I haven't had much time to play, I'd rather just play more when things are fixed a little more fun

The only instance the Revenge booster is ever useful is on a laggy double death melee.
You forgot when you get a stealth kill too. If you're getting a stealth kill and your enemy has the revenge booster, you're dead because they drop the grenade the instant the stealth kill animation begins. :/

One MAJOR problem that I've had:

Playing Plunder or Treasure Hunter...if the idol is near any weapon, I will pick up the weapon instead of the idol. WTF. It makes no sense. I don't want to pick up the weapon, I want to pick up the idol. Also, since you pick up the idol with triangle, I've had several instances where my character will throw a grenade instead of picking up the idol.

Only retards eh? Or maybe they were generally interested in the game or wanted to support NT. I agree on different prices for more single-player focused games, especially shorter experiences but try not to throw around a dumb statement like that.

Anyways, on the subject of UC I was telling my friend how awesome its going to be to start the game with like, 600,000 dollars in cash. Extra bonus's here I come.

Nope. Standard TDM. Kinda weird where each skin is irrelevant to which side. Saw it again.

Agreed! Maps feel like they were constructed to fit within the Uncharted mechanics, not because they're good spawn layouts, flanking, etc. Everything feels so random.

I can't tell where enemies are coming from, where they're going or whatnot. And I've been playing FPS, and whatnot since I was a kid!

Speaking of which, recoil is janky too. AK doesn't feel different from the M9 in terms of recoil. Sometimes it goes sideways, sometimes up and down.

Yep. I played till I was about level 10. The game is just so messed up for me.

Character gets stuck in handholds and whatnot. Can't even count how many times I've died because my character didn't want to go down a platform which was friggin' 2 feet away.

Melee is weird. Gunning and then running at someone for a melee "love tap" seems to be the de-facto move to get kills. I mean, shooting is just so all over the place that long-range affairs are relatively nil.

Throwing grenades are fine, but throwing them with precision? Forget about it.

I've been playing with a lot of level 35's - which I assume is the level cap. They have better armaments and Perks by the boatload. It's one thing to reward long-time players, but really? Gimping the overall character and not just the gun?

Movement and controls need refinement as well. I can't even count how many times I wanted to jump in a certain direction and my character went another.

I might try playing again tomorrow, but things don't look promising. The game might not be my cup of tea, but it's one thing to think about that whenever I killed someone, I didn't know if it was luck or whatnot. Heck, I don't even know how many bullets are needed to kill someone as things are so janky.

Overall, the worst bit is the shooting. I had someone try it and they also commented that it takes too long to kill someone. Not to mention hitmarkers aren't done very well in the game. Normally, an "X" appears whenever you hit someone, but in the game, there's the crosshair which has a dot and you have to LOOK to see that X. Not easy when in the heat of battle and everyone is acting like monkeys with bullet-proof vests on.

Sorry to be a wet blanket for those who like the MP, just voicing my thoughts. I just don't get where Naughty Dog wants to go with the MP. Be like CoD? Be like Gears? Combination of all? It just feels convoluted, confusing, weird core mechanics and the gunplay is just wrong...for some reason I can't think of an adjective to describe it.

And you have all these treasures, medals, weapons, etc. popping up on-screen. Yeesh! Whatever happened to just letting the player play?

I'm still getting Uncharted 3...but for the SP. MP is just a mess. People will hate me for what I posted, but I'd rather play the co-op and let the competitive rot. That's why Call of Duty and Battlefield sell by the truckload. Say what you will of both games, but they do MP right.

TL:DR I'll try the MP again, but I'm not digging it. Too chaotic and trying too many things all at once. Great concept though.

Wow, RyanardoDaVinci.... o.O 19:2 in a match where I go 6:4...what the the hell. I don't even know what makes you so much better. In a sense like "I don't know what to do different".

This is what's wrong, I feel the exact same way. Some matches ill go 11-3, and other I'll go 5-8. Point being, there doesn't seem to be a "skill level" in this game where you can do good consistently. It feels random.

You took my post and summed it up in three sentences. I agree with this 100%. How you say "the maps feel like... Uncharted mechanics" is a very nice way of putting it.

Also the recoil I agree 100% on. I know what you mean by "sometimes it goes sideways, sometimes it goes up and down."

You know, I had a tad bit of fun today. I've started tweaking my aim higher to the face as opposed to the chest and also slowed down a bit. I always thought I should run and find where the action is, aim and fire away... only to die.

Now I'm taking it slow and trying not to get bothered by people escaping my shots or teammates taking my kills. I'll just be the support guy.

Also, started playing TDM. 95% of my matches I played previously were hardcore mode. Playing with people worrying about their kickbacks and boosters seems more beneficial to me than elite pros going on killstreaks, tearing my anus apart haha. I was one of those guys in the beta though =/.

All gaffers complain. But not equally.

Those who complain at night, in the dusty recesses of the gaf forums... awake in the day to find the same inferior multiplayer experience

But the complainers of "the list" are dangerous men...For they may act out their complaints by harassing the shit out of bob cogburn

To make it possible

I went 17 and 2 one of my first games yesterday. After that I was slaughtered by a bunch of level 35ers (well my team was, but I was at the top :D).

If you want to "see" how I play, or Ryanardo, ask for the cinema file.

Lol!

The thing with this game is the spawns (more so in U2), awareness, and skill.

I'm constantly processing who's alive, who's dead, where they died, where that explosion was, what kind of explosion was it, where my teammates are shooting, where are those bullets coming from, who made that noise, etc. etc. etc.

Even the best players can get screwed over by the spawns though; if those are against you, you won't do well at all in the match. I've gone 5-15 many times because of them, you can't fight 'em.
