Release Date: 11/22/12 (Japan)
Platforms: PS3 and 3DS
Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Official Site: http://www.capcom.co.jp/ext/

E.X. Troopers is a spin-off game of the Lost Planet series, it is being developed by Capcom and it is currently planned to be released for the Nintendo 3DS and Playstation 3. The game is an action shooter headed by Monster Hunter series producer Shintaro Kojima. J-Pop artist May’n is behind the theme song. The game shares the same world view of Lost Planet, but features a graphic animation style and school story. Between stages, the game will use a “manga demo” style of storytelling, similar to that seen in Gravity Rush. Capcom previously trademarked E.X. Troopers in North America, but has yet to announce a localized version.

Story:
Things begin when main character Bren Turner joins the NEVEC educational institute "Academy." Bren, a trouble maker who speaks without thinking, wants to be the top Gingira Vital Suit pilot on EDN-3rd. Bren leaves his home town and makes its way to EDN-3rd. Upon arrival, though, his transport ship is attacked by a mysterious group of Vital Suits.

Bren and his instructor, Walter, take control of the Gingira VS and face off against the attackers. Although emerging victorious, Bren and crew are forced into the EDN-3rd atmosphere. Bren and Walter escape in an escape pod and land on the EDN-3rd surface.

Gameplay:
E.X. Troopers is a 3rd person action game that plays similarly to previous Lost Planet titles. Along with the single-player storyline, a multi-player mode is included, with online play available on the PS3 and 4-player local co-op for the 3DS.

I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce!
Getting the 3DS version myself since I can't see myself playing it online all that much with the other games I play at home.

Should have canned Lost Planet 2 and gone straight to this one. Looks dope

"This is not for your sake", yeah.

Yeah, it sounds like "This is not (done) for your benefit" Was that the intention? I thought the title was trying to say "This is not for you (to posses)"

I have the demo sitting on my 3DS waiting to be played. I should give it a shot over break (though my import budget's rather eaten up by Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney next week.)

Couple questions, because the split between this and the "why ain't they sticking with the Korean movie guy expy" branch has got some stuff I'd hope someone could confirm.

1) This one seems to be emphasizing balls-to-the-wall action with tight controls and fast, creative combat? But does it feel "Vanquishier" than LP1 did, and how smooth and good does it pull that off?

2) Is this just anime for anime's sake? The trailer made it look like they were intentionally running it thru the trope garden, careful not to miss nothing.

I wonder if there will be a competitive mode, because Lost Planet was actually incredible for that. It ended up being overlooked. 8v8 Team Eliminations, counter grabs, etc were all amazing in both LPC and LP2.

I think it's 3v3 at max here.

I made a JP PSN a while back and I loved the demo. Shame that Capcom will not release this and separating their games (JP games only released in Japan; Western developed games released in the West)

I played the 3DS demo for this while I was in Japan last week. It was fucking awesome - 3DS graphics are great, no excuses for Capcom not to release it here.

Except they're stupid.

Will import PS3 version.

Oh, nice one! Had no idea we'd be getting an OT :)

I'm frothing at the mouth for this, really can't wait. Online has real potential too. Going with the PS3 version, although I had thought about the 3DS one for quite a while.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Im considering picking this up just to see the design aspects of the title. And at least the price tag isnt in the 7k range for the PS3 version.

Got the PS3 Asian version and will more than likely be coming late next week or early December. Very hyped, especially since I enjoyed the demo a lot.
