All those people don't own an iOS device. lol

Transport Tychoon is on iOS and works fine. I really only worry that they might got with the terrible F2P mobile route.

This cannot end well. This can only go three ways:

  • I'm almost certain there are not going to make a new PC game. If they do, it'll be 3D. RCT3 isn't half the game 2 was.
  • Alternatively, it'll be a Facebook game. Therefore barely a game.
  • Or it'll be an iPad only game with more in-app purchases than Theme Park on iOS.

(However, I'd love be wrong...)

#RCT4M could mean RCT for Mobile instead of RCT4 Mobile (or whatever the M could stand for).
And if Chris Sawyer is involved, it's probably a RCT2 port in the same vein as Transport Tycoon, as he said it's the best RCT.

In the financial state Atari is in, a completely new RCT would probably make no sense anyway.

Unless some other company is making it and Atari is just getting a licensing fee kickback. Frontier is still around and they are putting out mobile games such as Coaster Crazy.

Atari wanted $3,500,000 at auction for the RollerCoaster Tycoon IP, and no one bit.

So us long-time fans have to put up with a mobile game? Are you kidding me, Atari?

Didn't the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3DS game prove that playing this franchise on-the-go is a bad idea?

Give us a proper RC4, please!

Unfortunately I think the series died after 2, but I'd welcome a true return to form for today's audience. Spent so many hours with both 1 and 2, though things were pretty crazy once you started building multiple layers on top of one another.

I would take an iPad port of the original games merged into one with the same graphics and features of all the expansions. It would work really well on iPad since the games were pretty much all point and click button driven. Especially when building tracks and paths.

No IAP please. Just pure original from Chris Sawyer.

I'm sure this would be F2P garbage, but I don't understand the philosophical objection to mobile. Unless the series changed fundamentally in 3 (which I did not play), Rollercoaster Tycoon is absolutely perfect for mobile and the controls of the same suit the platform aptly.

Fans don't mind mobile entries on their own, they hate that they're getting them instead of RollercoasterTycoon4.

If Atari would announce PC proper sequel I can guarantee you there would be hardly any complains about separate mobile spin-off.

M probably stands for Mobile but, since they're specifying, there could be a non-mobile version.

Looking forward to seeing what it's about either way.

I'd love a new PC game but I think it's more likely going to be a mobile title and I'll happily play it as long as they don't copy EA's example and destroy it with 'freemium' bullshit. After the last Rollercoaster Tycoon title I played on the 3DS, the only possible way for this series is UP.

Hey guys, remember when we were all excited about a new SimCity? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Unless the series changed fundamentally in 3 (which I did not play), Rollercoaster Tycoon is absolutely perfect for mobile and the controls of the same suit the platform aptly.

It's perfect for tablets. It'd be pretty garbage on a phone -- not enough space to act with precision.

Guess the M means its a mobile game.

Atari has revealed that it will release an iOS and Android version of classic theme park sim RollerCoaster Tycoon in 2013.

http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Rollercoaster+Tycoon/news.asp?c=46026

That was announced in 2012.

You'll star as an up-and-coming tycoon, and you'll create your own custom theme park by designing coasters and building attractions. It's all about attracting the punters and making cash.

You can either use the pre-designed roller coaster templates, or design your own death traps from scratch with the Roller Coaster Editor. You'll also be able to share your coaster designs with pals.

Could be what Atari teased. But I'm still hoping for RCT2 for iPad. :(

On both Atari's official facebook page and the official Rollercoaster Tycoon page, a tease was posted today with the hashtag #‎RCT4M‬ with this link: http://giphy.com/gifs/puW4H9o7TuzXa

Its a looping image of a rollercoaster that someone on reddit posted a year ago.

Guess the M means its a mobile game. The bigger question is, why is there still an Atari? I would love for another Rollercoaster Tycoon game but the company exists in limbo. What resources do they have to make anything?

Atari is Infogrames. Infogrames took on the name after purchasing it.

At least the Atari with Roller Coaster Tycoon is concerned. There's bits of Atari and from what I understand the portion that owns stuff like Centipede and Asteroids spun off and is trying to sell off their IPs as all those subsidaries have went bankrupt. Atari SA which is the parent company is transitioning to mobile and web games, which would jive up with this story about Roller Coaster Tycoon 4

oh no. oh no oh no oh no

And the art style looks really good, like a modern version of classic RTC. I really hope the IAPs are avoidable. They won't be though :/

So this seems as good a time as any to ask... Is there any way to play the original on a tablet? Something like dosbox on android?

Edit: Wait I'm a member now? When did that happen? Awesome!

There are literally no features they can add that will overcome the F2P enough to make me not just reinstall and replay 2 or 3 instead

When I heard about this I thought that RCT would be perfect for mobile or tablets, as long as it wasn't full of IAPs.

So of course basically the very first thing we know about the game is that it has IAPs. Haha.

Ha.
