SO.... does it actually improve performance?
Did you watch the webm?
Read the other thread with the title that isn't misleading. Or my and other users' impressions on how the pop in isn't as bad as the one in the OP.Can we get gifs from other sources, please?
I mean....one person continuing to have problems with a game post-patch isn't exactly newsworthy.
So I ask: Is everyone experiencing this amount of NPC pop-in? If so, I would like to hear it.
I have no agenda either way. Just want to know how widespread this is....
1 webm is hardly comprehensive evidence one way or the other.
Anyone expecting anything else was kidding themselves. What did anyone expect they could do to improve performance? It was lower quality of effects, lower quality of mods, or lower quality/quantity/etc of NPCs. There was no hidden "make this game run at a better frame rate" button they forgot to press. The game pushed the system, so literally this is what they could do or nothing.
Well, not a single button. They could have made a mandate to prioritize a stable 30 FPS from out outset and make sure they were meeting that goal every step of the way, but at this point the damage has been done and the necessary changes are probably buried deeper than a post-launch performance patch is likely to address. So yeah, the only remaining option is to make relatively quick and dirty cutbacks like this.
Dat sliding dude who just put on socks at random
Ummmm reading this thread I have the impression that many people are jumping the gun on something they haven't tried first hard.
NPC pop-in was in the game since the beginning and it was already distracting.
OP claims it's worse after the patch as a fact and with a single opinion as a source but that is highly debatable. It seems the same to me honestly.
And the new animus-like spawning animation.....it's really hard to replicate the effect, most of the pop-in happens in the distance, getting NPCs appearing out of no where so close to the player is NOT the norm in the game, usually you get better clothes or detail when you get close and there's no animus animation.
So yeah the game had and still has a pop-in problem, but claiming as a fact that it got worse after the patch is premature and should require further investigation....you know what happened when people claimed downgrades after patch 3 already....
I'm definetly looking forward to see more comments from people who have actually tried the patch which imo does a good job at fixing the frame rate problems and that was the main problem with the game, so I'm happy with it although I finished it long ago at this point. Now the game is fully playable and that's the most important thing.
That is amazing lol.
I have the patch and the frame rate is better at times but it still tanks in places it really shouldn't. The awful low quality audio is more of a deal breaker for me.
Hilarious year for Ubisoft.
I'm always confused at how popular this series is. Every other entry seems to be a complete disaster, and in general the series appears to be relatively poorly designed and uninteresting. Incredible marketing I suppose, they pump these things out on an assembly line.
Uhh
Who are you quoting and why should I be listening to him in particular when he says it's "worse"?
Really? Shitmot? Anus Creed? Yea and AC 2-R were definitely alpha builds, and so was 4.And it's just the beginning, people keep buying dem alpha builds so the money still flows, marketing strategy still works and Yves Shitmot is happy, aand they hope that people will actually forget this, which is kind of true, sadly..

This is amazing. Hopefully this will teach them to stop rushing out Assassin's Creed games every holiday season.
What is this? Patch #4 they're working on now? Jesus!
Yves Guillemots Secret Gaf Account, cool
Crossing Eden

Can't even begin to tell you how much the "You work for this company" schtick annoys me now. Because it usually is a reply to me correcting somebody.
Patch 4 is the one that came out this morning. Game still needs more patching though.
Do they even test this shit first before releasing?
I think he means the pre-release gif that showed a tree popping up in front of a car. Supposedly from the 360 version, wound up being indicative of PS3 instead I believe. That was actually GTA V

Consider that the person I replied to hasn't replied at all to being corrected about the "FC4 anti-piracy wasn't well-received" or the person who brought it up in the first place. Heck even the OP seemingly left after people started questioning whether or not this was legitimate widespread issue or just an isolated case."correcting people"... lmao
Do they even test this shit first before releasing?
So whats the opinion of the PC version after this patch? Thinking about grabbing it on the cheap but not sure if I should. Consoles just look broken at this point so hoping PC tech has enabled them to do better.
I wouldn't personally recommend it even if it were polished.

I feel stupid but I need this explained to me.
