Yeah, I'm not sure. Could be the full MP will be added after launch for free, they just want to beta test it? Dunno.

Depending on who you ask, either "Colonial Marines" or "anything that isn't Borderlands." Though I think the latter would only include Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever, which may or may not have much to do with Gearbox specifically. Colonial Marines was pretty obviously awful of Gearbox to do, though.

I hope that's the case.
After all they are adding Homeworld 1 and 2 races together.
There's the whole balance issue they may want to address.

I will be pissed if they try and charge me separately for the MP though.

Wow, for a 12 year old game, it still looks great. I wonder why they didn't include Cataclysm? Anyway, good to see this game get some love and hope it draws in a lot of new players to the series.

Source code lost or something like that ? A shame as, at least to my eyes, Cataclysm was the best game in the original trilogy.

I wonder if the "capture ennemy ships to victory" glitch in H1 will be patched... ^^

I remember hearing that the original Cataclysm source code has been lost.
Making the expansion very difficult to remaster.

that aside, I'm so getting it no matter what. LOVE the original and they were pretty much the only RTS I was interested in back then. any idea if we'll be able to get Cataclysm also? I actually still have the disc somewhere but would love to get it on Steam too...

No Steam trading cards listed on the pre-order page. :( Homeworld 2 is the one game I was most looking forward to having steam backgrounds and emoticons for. I hope they get added in for release.

That bit about the multiplayer beta has me super worried, please Gearbox don't half ass this release.

Otherwise Homeworld 2 cannot wait!! I just wish it came with the giant manual of old. :p

Is there a reason I'd want the classic versions? I thought the remastered ones were just 1:1 the same game with better resolution, textures etc.

We won't know exactly what the differences are until we're actually able to play them ourselves, but it's possible there will be changes that not everyone agrees with. I seem to remember some people not feeling the new art for the cutscenes.

As for resolution, since Homeworld is a PC game running on a 3D engine it's entirely possible to play the original in 1920x1080, though I imagine it'll be a lot more straightforward in the remastered version.

Also, the original has had mods made for it that probably won't work with the new version. I just hope someone makes a mod for the remastered edition that enables accurate ship scaling. It's fun to see carriers getting swarmed by tiny little fighters.

I have the CE ordered since the announcement, can't wait!

Also... Here's hoping that the CE edition releases same day...

Waiting for the reviews to see if I'll buy this at launch or during a sale, but I loved these games so much when I was younger, I'm really glad I'll get to play them again :)

I think pre-ordering games is bad and no one should do it, yet I feel oddly compelled to pre-order this. The power of a good game, I guess.

I generally understand the feeling, but Homeworld is quite literally GoaT worthy for RTS and SciFi lovers, so... How much could Gearbox screw it up?

(Hoping I don't regret those words)

It looks very nice, but too pricey for my blood. When it hits 20 though I will be all over that. I had a blast with the games back in the day even if I found them to be pretty fucking hard.

Did they lose the source code or do they simply not know who ended up with the licence?

Do they really need the source code for Cataclysm? I wouldn't mind if they ripped the audio/music and other stuff from the released game and made a remaster/remake from that. I would gladly pay $49 for it
